Essentials Crate January 2021 Review

Glass Straw Set (similar found here for $7.99)

I have liked reusable straws for a while, and now that Starbucks has basically done away with straws, additions like this to my life are even more helpful and welcome! This set of 8 includes 4 straight straws and 4 curved. Also inside this kit are 4 helpful wire cleaning brushes which you really kind of need for these sorts of straws, especially if you use them for smoothies or juices that are not easily washed out. Everything came carefully packaged in a kraft box that you could also keep for storage, and the kit included a grey pouch as well.

Reusable 12 oz Glass and Cork Cup (similar found here for $26.00)

I was so surprised at how heavy and nice this cup was. There is some serious heft to this little thing! While it likely isn't going to be large enough for the serious coffee drinkers out there, as a tea lover, the 12 oz size is perfection. The top is made out of thick silicone and I haven't had a single leak issue. The glass body is wrapped in a thick cork which protects your hands from getting too hot or too cold.

Glow Flow Energizing Matcha Latte Mix, 5.8 oz (about 15 servings) - Retail Value $24.99

I am a matcha fanatic, and a mix like this is perfect for making on the go. As someone who gave up Red Bull a few months ago, I really look forward to a little zing from tea/matcha. I am not super familiar with adaptogens but I did see ashwagandha on the ingredient list, and this is one of my favorite natural de-stressing supplements. It really takes the edge off some of my worries! Also inside is coconut milk powder, mushroom extracts, vanilla, and more. I tried this with water first and found it, well, gross. But try it with vanilla almond milk and prepare for a treat! You can enjoy this hot or cold.

Adjustable Milk Frother (similar found here for $24.95)

Our final item is a cute little milk frother that also comes with a whisk attachment. We actually already own one of these and Will absolutely loves it. Ours is battery-powered while this is rechargeable and seems a bit more powerful. Will likes to froth up thick cream from whole milk to top off his coffee in the mornings and I like to use it for protein shakes or powders, like the matcha above. The nice thing about a frother like this is that it seems to work well with both real milk and plant-based milks. Sure, the fat from the real stuff creates a smoother and more dense foam, but I get fluffy results with my almond milk too. The whisk attachment is awesome for beating eggs, too.

I would recommend not filling the included glass up too high if you plan on whisking. It makes a mess in a smaller cup! But YUM.

The Verdict:  Essentials Crate is starting to feel like one of those very curated and very pretty boxes. Everything inside felt super cohesive this month and I loved the neutral colors and packaging. It all came together to feel very luxe. Each item included this month felt super high quality and even though none of the items were what I would necessarily consider basics, they have become things I have used daily since I opened the box. The value this month was hard to quantify, but based on the costs of similar items, I think there was certainly value in this box. And the fact that everything is both beautiful, reusable, and practical adds even more value in my opinion!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
