Hi!
Does anybody know where this pan is made?

Thanks.

Mallory @ MSA

Hi! The Always Pan is made in China. You can learn more about the factory & their workers here: https://fromourplace.com/blogs/magazine/made-for-our-place

Thank you Mallory!

Victoria

Ya’ll are wild. I don’t think anyone from MSA is going to your job and smacking the pen out of your hand. If you don’t want the pan, don’t buy the pan. lollllllll to this whole thread and my lord can someone get Mallory an iced coffee so she can continue to be as sweet as possible to all these crazy comments?

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

Mallory is great no one is saying anything about her, she’s just doing her job. The problem we have is that since the site was sold they have been posting these random products instead of making posts about things like the FFF edit sale, the Fabletics 50% off sale going on now, and getting spoilers and promo codes really late compared to other sites. These comments are here for a reason, if they don’t want our opinion they can get rid of them. Sure we like “non sub” posts, but according to the comments many would rather have sub box adjacent info, not things like this.

Victoria

*last comment meant for Mandi not Mallory.

Victoria

Mallory — girlfriend, I’ve read the comments. Trust me, I understand your “problem” about a free website lolllll

Mallory @ MSA

Thanks for the kind words, Mandi & Victoria! This is great feedback – I’ll share it back with the rest of the team! 😊

Carol

I saw all of the comments and thought “this must be an amazing or awful pan”.

Reply ButtonReply

Makenzie

I’m surprised there was no post about the fabfitfun winter edit sale… yet there’s a post about this.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

Same. I noticed a lack of FFF stuff and some pretty late allure spoilers. I got an extra blanket with my winter box days ago, and had seen the post on another site days before that. I kept waiting for it to appear here and it never did.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashleigh

I agree! I figured there would be at least something before the Edit sale closed… but nope! Which I guess is ok, if you need/want an expensive new pan more than discounted (although not the best sales always) products through your subscription to fff.

Reply ButtonReply

Rugby

You seem to have known about it though.

Michelle

I have only been on this site for two years so I can’t really reference what the site used to be versus what it is now. And I rarely comment…Having said that, I think a lot of the comments here are unfair.

It sounds like MSA has been around for a while and was started by a lovely woman who had a passion for subscription boxes. I imagine, at that time, there weren’t literally hundreds of different subscriptions, mystery boxes, flash sales, pop-up sales, etc. like there are now and it started as a hobby.

Flash-forward to 2021 and the offerings are endless. Keeping up with it all requires more people to research, test/use the products, write the reviews, spoilers, etc. I enjoy the reviews on this site because they are personal…they invite us into their very real lives and share their families and pets with us as well as their successes and failures. After working a long day, it is relaxing to visit MSA and have a break from all the craziness going on in the world.

Do I hate ads? Yes. Influencers? Don’t hate them but recognize them for what they are and what they peddle. MSA is a business of people who need to get paid for what they do just like us. And since this site is free, the revenue has to come from somewhere to make that happen.

Sorry for the long post! Must be having a bad day so all the negativity just hit me the wrong way tonight. Be safe and be well!

People are still allowed to have opinions about things, whether they are favorable or not to others. I think subscription boxes are on their way out any way, but I still come on this site to see what the offerings for subscription boxes are, since that is still the name of this website. I do not like seeing non subscription things advertised or reviewed and I do mostly skip them. I had to stop by this one to see the comments. I confess, that is one thing I like about this website is the comments from others. It has been slim pickings for subscription box reviews and spoilers for a while in my opinion.

Reply ButtonReply

shakingmyhead

Maybe there should be a seperate tab/page for non subscription items that people who are interested can click on and leave the main page for subscriptions?

Kate

Thanks for saying it so well, Michelle, I completely agree.

Reply ButtonReply

Lydia

Agreed!

Reply ButtonReply

Lydia

First off- I know several people that purchased this pan and LOVE it. I’m personally grateful for this post because I was waiting for a red version. Second- I have been enjoying this site for over 5 years. I have not found it at all difficult to avoid the reviews/deals/offers that don’t interest me. This is still very easy to do and navigate. The angry mob on here trying to vilify MSA for adding more content on a FREE site is ludicrous. And *gasp* perhaps make some money to help keep the site going. Click on the articles you want to read…..ignore the ones that don’t interest you. It’s not that hard people.

Reply ButtonReply

BG

The frustration is not that the posts can’t be skipped. The frustration is spoilers and reviews that are SO LATE you can no longer get the boxes. If that was as good as it used to be I don’t think anyone would care. Spend the time writing this post getting those up.

Plus the fact that their review for this pan said it was bad after 3 months. You lose a lot of credibility trying to sell us something you said was bad.

Kate

Lydia, I completely agree with you. Thanks!

Shannon

I would think constructive criticism is a way to hear your base and improve the site. Perhaps the site is moving into a different direction. That is fine, but the loyal base is built on a certain foundation and may not stick around. At least they will understand if clicks diminish.

Also, most companies have limited resources. Spending time reviewing pans means less time reviewing actual sub boxes. There has been a noticeable shift.

Julia

I hear you that MSA is a business and needs to make money. But remember that they make money when you get boxes through their links, which is why they block an mentions of cash back sites. It seems odd to highlight a pan again that didnt get good reviews the first time around.

Reply ButtonReply

Rugby

It’s bizarre to me that people think that clicks through links would be sufficient to fund this free website. Maybe they should charge to provide this service, since they are not living up to some peoples expectations. Maybe they need more revenue. I appreciate the service they provide us for free. Just like others stated, if you don’t like certain posts, don’t click on them.

BG

@Julia – There are cash back sites ttt BG at work on beauty boxes?!? Wow. I’ll have to investigate.

Molly Honey

Why is this pan dressed like Causebox?

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

I don’t need it but liked the color so I bought it.

Reply ButtonReply

Molly Honey

I miss that beautiful blond lady that reviewed jewelry, Your Bijoux Box and Luxe Catch.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

I don’t understand purpose of one pan I rarely ever use just one when cooking. And the price just no.

Reply ButtonReply

shakingmyhead

I agree Kristin. I rarely use just one pan when cooking as well. The price is ridiculous.

Reply ButtonReply

Pilar

I heard that the coating comes off the pan and is no longer nonstick after 4 months, so I would advise against anyone buying this pan.

Reply ButtonReply

Molly Honey

The irony that this pan company heavily pitched their product to a ton of reviewers and influencers, and it’s been horribly reviewed!

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

MSA, I know I told you in the survey that it’d be nice if people were less pointlessly hateful in their comments sometimes, but I didn’t mean about this pan. I am really enjoying the unified disdain for this pan and its ongoing marketing here.

Reply ButtonReply

Blue

I’ve both praised and criticized company’s/subs but that’s because I believe people should get fair and honest reviews of things. In this case I’m laughing at the comments though. There is no middle ground on this pan. It’s universally hated.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashleigh

Love it. And I like how the response is like nah, you actually like seeing these posts. Like some sort of Jedi mind trick.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

Jedi Mind trick is exactly what I was thinking! 😆 It’s funny because every time there is a non-sub box related post, the comment section immediately fills up with people saying “stick to sub boxes please”. I understand if there is a need to run ads to be more profitable. Clearly your core base is not impressed with these type of ads masquerading as a sub box related review. Calling a pan “limited edition” does not make it similar to the limited edition beauty boxes we like to see!

Julia

Agreed! This particular pan was already posted to negative reviews. What an odd approach, to include a non deal on a poorly reviewed pan and then double down to insist people want it.

BG

Ha! Jedi mind tricks is perfect. What a job is to respond to have to respond to all these annoyed comments with statements they can’t believe. Telling us a pan with bad reviews is what we want to see because we want to know about beauty advent calendars is some #fakenews mental gymnastics for sure.

They have become too big to be able to sustain all the employees and overhead, and turn a profit, only reporting on subscription boxes. I think they just cap out and have to find other ways to make money. They should have stayed small and neich. More like a fan club than large company. I think Liz saw that it was a ton of work that you really have to do among only a few other employees or there’s just no money to be made. So in comes a social media marketing plan to buy it, and all of its audience, and turn it into a something profitable. They/she didn’t buy this to barely scrape by. This is how it’s going to make money. I think they figure they are going to lose people trying but it’s a gamble that they hope will pay off. This is a great reference site. Looks like they bought the rights to alllll those years of reviews and the access to all of us that were already here. Pretty valuable site. Too bad their throwing it away. Anyway I don’t love it anymore. And that fact, more than any ads thrown in my face, is was what sold me on these boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Mallory @ MSA

Hi there! We celebrate the fact that our female founder built a successful business and a home for an incredible community of people who love subscription boxes as much as she does. Last year, we learned that the majority of readers wanted to hear more about new non-subscription products, including advent calendars, limited edition boxes, and under-the-radar brands. If you’d like to share your feedback with our team as well, feel free to fill out the form linked in this post.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

Mallory I can’t respond to your individual post but it would have been great if those that owned the pan perhaps have done a little piece like sharing a recipe and their opinion of the pan, or better yet use the pan to prepare dinners from a food subscription review. It would have been a great tie-in.

And thank you for sharing over 50% of those that took the survey said they were looking for this type of info. Guess those don’t comment often so that is why it seems lopsided.

Jennifer

The Always Pan doesn’t classify as “Under the Radar” right now, and MSA’s been posting about it like once a week. 😉 Limited Edition boxes are usually exciting because they are “sub-box related” – either deals from brands often seen in Sub boxes, boxes curated by various subscriptions, or value bundles of items that are pretty similar to what people like from sub-boxes to begin with. The Advent Calendars are kind of like that as well – at least before the prices on them started jumping up – as they are basically limited edition boxes around a count-down to Christmas theme. Pretty much any multi-item box with a nice discount and/or good curation is going to appeal to us, even if it isn’t an actual “subscription.”

Under-the-radar products can be fun to learn about, especially if compared to a sub box item or reviewed, but if you post about a known and currently Influenster-trending product over and over and over and over again, that’s probably going to backfire a bit. The only reason I click on these frequent Always Pan posts are for the comments, lol.

As for the pan itself, according to various people and review sites who have put it through various tests, it’s not really oven-safe at high heat, the paint scratches easy on the bottom, it doesn’t retain heat well between frying batches of things, the shorter handle can over-heat, and it’s a bit too shallow to steam well with the basket as claimed. Even MSA’s posted review of it only gave it 3 and a half stars. So it does just come off as a little odd, and unintentionally humorous, that it’s a product MSA keeps pushing every week.

Though it is a slick-looking pan, I’ll give it that, with some nice color choices. 🙂

Emma

MSA asks, “Are you going to shop this deal?”

What deal? The pan is still full price.

Reply ButtonReply

Mallory @ MSA

Hi Emma! Thank you for pointing this out – we’ve adjusted the post.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Site is turning into something that it was not in Liz’s original vision of a subscription review and spoiler site. More posts simply promoting a product.

Reply ButtonReply

Mallory @ MSA

Hi Laura! We celebrate the fact that our female founder built a home for an incredible community of people who love subscription boxes as much as she does. Our goal is to make sure that we’re continuing to write about exciting brands and subscriptions that our community wants to read about, which includes subscription boxes and new non-subscription products (like advent calendars, limited edition boxes, and under-the-radar brands), according to our most recent reader survey. If you’d like to share your feedback with our team as well, feel free to fill out the form linked in this post.

I read comments on that survey and the majority said h#ll no. Strange those that wanted these post answered survey but didn’t post comment. Can you tell us what percentage of those that completed survey actually said yes?

Saucy

Not only is this not a subscription, it’s a terrible product. The manufacturer itself even says you can’t use it over medium-low heat without starting to ruin the non-stick.

Inagree! This is NOT a subscription. I’m very disappointed to see this on MSA.

But it is a limited edition. You are limited on the amount of heat you can use. But it may have value as a collectable. If I can get Kim Kardashion to sign it.

Julia

And you can match it to your lavender-colored kitchen! And you’re promoting the “slow food” movement because it replaces all your pots, so you can only cook one part of your supper at a time. And clicking the link gets someone some clickbait cash! Consider the possibilities!

Rose

I really feel like MSA was an every day part of my life. Now I find myself on MSA less and less. Posts like these make me sad for the future of this website.

My thoughts exactly!! I used to wait for the email to come and look at each item even if I had no interest in the sub. Now I open 2 {?} of the emails a week if I am bored. Every review seems glowing and really there just to get you to sign up instead of informitive and genuine. Maybe I am just over sub boxes and buying crap I never use.

This pan is so weird to me. I mean, sure you can do everything in one, but I usually need more than one pan/pot when I cook. I see it everywhere, the marketing campaign is just about how you ONLY NEED ONE PAN! Do people want to just own one $150 pan? Do they only use one pan to cook? Is this a thing?

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I think it’s so weird that the spatula/spoon thing permanently rests on the side of the pan. That little nub and hole in the spatula would annoy me a lot and was enough to turn me off from this pan forever. So for me it is a Never Pan. LOL

Reply ButtonReply

Mary L.

I’m with you. Even if it were just me in the house, I can’t imagine having a single pan in my kitchen. And I see this promoted everywhere too. They must have a great affiliate program.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

Glad I’m not the only one confused by the excitement of this pan. I was never THAT interested and then I saw the price and laughed. I guess this is a result of “influencer excitement” convincing you that you need something you really don’t?? It’s just a pan. An expensive one, but not a new invention.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

The marketing campaign has really went huge, I’ve been seeing tons of commercials for it since last month plus all the influencer stuff online. Now the Chrissy Teigen pans are amazing and under $30 at target, those are some nice pans I can get behind. lol

Stephanie

Agree and it’s this influencer excitement that’s ruining all social media. Everyone’s now is an “influencer” wanting to make money toting any random product that will make them a dollar from affiliate fees. I think this company pays a
good amount and this is why msa is featuring them even though we’ve told them we’re not even slightly interested in this crap. There’s a new level of annoyance marketing with these products.

LB

@Tat – lol. Certainly not me or you. But I hadn’t even seen ads for it or heard about it (I’m not on Instagram) until Youtubers started buying it and talking about it…supposedly with their own money. Cue my confusion….

Tat

And exactly who is excited by this pan?

tpop

Agree. A steamer and spatula are INCLUDED, not replaced. Unless you only use the bottom inch of the spoon, the “spoon rest” won’t help. Steam can be let out of any lid by leaving it a bit askew. I have 3 pans that are a similar shape, do all the same things, and together did not cost as much. And I can cook more than one thing at a time. Also, replacing all your current items isn’t great environmentally. The bamboo steamer and chopsticks costs $30 more, which is at least 2/3 more than an Asian store.

Reply ButtonReply

Molly Honey

Between the non sub box content and kate …really succeeding at running everybody off.

Hi Mallory, Please don’t. You’ve had an overwhelming LACK of interest in seeing this item AGAIN. Please go back to the sites roots, so we can all enjoy it again! 🙂

Melissa

Hi! I think I speak for many people here by saying that wanting spoilers or other information about things like Advent calendars or mystery boxes is part of why we come to this website. They’re at least related to subscription boxes because what’s in a subscription box used to be a mystery until you opened it until companies started releasing spoilers.
If I wanted to buy new kitchenware, I’d look at reviews in Consumer Reports or another reputable source.
This pan has mediocre reviews, especially regarding it’s longevity. The “all-in-one” gimmick seems to be the only draw.
If you want a pan that will last forever, buy cast iron. If you want less maintenance than cast iron, buy Le.Creuset, Stain or something similar on sale.
That said, and I’m not trying to be mean/pick a fight/cause internal strife, but when you reply to our comments, could you please make statements that don’t sound like a script? It’s off-putting to say the least.
