GlossyBox December 2020 Review

GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, its value, and a tip on how to use it. This month also featured a few pieces of literature along with coupon codes.

MineTan Coffee Scrub, 30 g - Retail Value $15 (buy full size here for $19.95)

I have very dry skin pretty much year-round, but the cold winters make it next-level dry. It often feels as though no amount of lotion helps it, which is why I find using scrubs every few weeks to be super helpful. I absolutely loved this scrub! It has a bold coffee smell so I decided to use this in the morning which helped to wake me up. Some of the top ingredients in this scrub include coffea robusta seed powder (coffee), aqua (water), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) oil, sodium chloride (salt), and sucrose (brown sugar). The scrub works to help dry, flaky skin, uneven skin tone, breakouts, and even stretch marks. I used this in the shower on wet skin, rubbed it into my skin in circular motions, and then waited 5 minutes before rinsing it off. The process of using a scrub can always be a bit messy, but I will say that the scrub coming in this pouch made it even more challenging. I was fumbling a bit to get the amount that I wanted out. The scrub was amazing though, it smelled great and really helped to remove that itchy dryness from my skin. When I got out of the shower I lotioned and was left with silky smooth skin that has felt much better even days after using this scrub.

K-Glo Smoothing Coconut Bio-Cellulose Eye Mask - Retail Value $6.00

Anyone else's eyes super puffy after the holidays? Mine have felt – and even looked – puffier these past few weeks from too much wine, sugar, and too little sleep. So I was really excited to see this cooling eye mask. The mask is made of 100% coconut gel material and includes coconut juice, birch sap, and hyaluronic acid. It works to smooth and hydrate your skin while combating dark circles, wrinkles, and puffiness (yes please). I used this before bed on clean skin for about 20 minutes. I can't say that I noticed a huge difference after just one use, but I do think I looked slightly less puffy the next morning. If nothing else, it was a super relaxing and cooling mask that smelled amazing and helped to calm me down before going to bed.

CBDFX Lavender Foot Mask - Retail Value $9.99

I have been neglecting my feet in a big way for almost a year and it is really starting to show. I was honestly SO excited to give this mask a try! I started by soaking my feet and used a little foot scrub to try to get some dead skin off before using the mask. Each bootie opened and slipped onto my feet easily and fit me perfectly. There is a lot of oil on both masks so I had to be careful to not get any on my floor or rug or furniture. I left them on for 20 minutes and immediately put socks on once I removed the masks to help lock in the moisture before heading to bed. I can honestly say that these masks really helped my feet! They have felt soft for days! Plus, they smelled amazing with a bold lavender scent that left me feeling so relaxed. The masks are made with 50mg of broad-spectrum CBD which has anti-inflammatory benefits, along with coconut oil, and sweet almond oil. I loved the way these masks made my feet feel and look, and I just might have to buy a few more for myself to have on hand!

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt, 40 ml - Retail Value $8.48 (buy full size here for $53)

My husband has become obsessed with these purifying scrubs thanks to the Holiday GlossyBox! I have super thick curly hair that I don't wash every day, so when I do wash, I need a really solid shampoo that is going to suds up and thoroughly cleanse my hair. My husband, however, has long hair that is very fine. So these scrubs work really well for him, and they allow him to not use as much conditioner because they leave his hair feeling so hydrated. He didn't love this scrub as much as the one I received in the Holiday box only because it didn't lather quite as much and was sort of difficult to work into the hair since it was a thick sea salt texture. This scrub works to remove buildup, soothes sensitivity, and eliminates flakiness on the scalp. The scent was really fresh and clean, not as floral as the Holiday scrub. While these aren't for me, my husband is already asking me to buy him a full-size because he is really liking how it works with his hair and how it has made his hair look overall after using. I can honestly say that his hair has not looked healthier!

Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream, 0.25 oz. - Retail Value $18.00 (buy full size here for $58)

My skin is very dry and while I used to not get bad breakouts, I have been suffering from breakouts the past few months. I was really excited to see that this cream works really well with dry skin that is also sensitive to hydrate without clogging your pores. It is lightweight enough to use in the morning and evening while giving long-lasting hydration. I have only used this for a few days now but I am really loving it! It is super light but has been leaving my skin feeling extremely soft, I haven't had any breakouts recently, and it is leaving me with a healthy glow that I really love. I don't feel like it is lasting as long as I would like, my face seems to feel dry by early morning which normally doesn't happen, but I might just need to use a bit more in the am. That is what is so great about new products, you get to learn and test to find how it can work best for your skin!

Nudestix Gel Color Lip & Cheek Balm in Posh - Retail Value $26.00

Normally this shade would be all me, but I was not thrilled with how it looked on me. I don't normally like so much shimmer on my lips so that could be why I wasn't in love with the color. It is made with vitamin E and plant oils that make the balm go on so smoothly, leaving my lips hydrated and soft. So while I didn't love the look, my lips felt so good with this balm on so I plan to give this another try with different eye makeup to see if I like it more.

Verdict: This was my first monthly GlossyBox and I am hooked! I am always looking for ways to exfoliate and hydrate in the winter and this box gave me everything that my skin needed for this time of year. I was able to wake up with a morning coffee scrub that left my skin feeling so smooth for days, the deep moisturizing cream has been saving my skin so far by hydrating without causing any major breakouts,  I also had no idea how badly I needed a foot mask in my life but I am hooked now! The lavender oil forced me to kick back and put my feet up after a long day with my kids while the mask worked its magic on my super dry feet. I normally don't love eye masks, but the K-Glo mask left me feeling a little less puffy after a long holiday season. While I didn't love the lip balm, I am going to give it another try, and the purifying scrub made my husband so happy! The products this month have an estimated retail value of around $83.47 which is not bad for a $21 box. For me, I don't get a ton of time for myself, but boxes like this really remind me that it is ok to take that time even if it is just me at home using a foot mask. I loved the overall product curation that felt perfect for the season. I really can't wait to see what my next box will bring!

I wish they would sell these boxes without a subscription. I would have gotten this one but don’t want to deal with the headache of a “glossybox subscription” and all that entails.

It is possible to pay by the box. Look fantastic is a sister company of theirs, I had a glossy box subscription. You can take surveys to earn credits to spend later or you can also use it at look fantastic. If you just want the box of the month, pay monthly and cancel anytime. So if you don’t want all boxes, you can choose throughout the year if you keep looking at it! Hope this helps

That would be awesome! I subbed one month on the first because I really wanted the box. I waited until the last day you could unsub and not get the next month’s box. Well I never got my box. When I contacted them they said I had canceled and they’d refund me. It’s not cool to trap people into multiple months of a subscription! That was the end for me. I do love reading reviews and seeing unboxings of this one though.

I have super thick long hair too that I wash about once a week. For that reason, I love scalp scrubs. But I shampoo first. Since I always shampoo twice, if I’m using a scalp scrub, I make that my second shampoo.

Taryn, I take my “one serving “of coffee scrub and put it in a cosmetics type jar(plastic) for the shower. Less mess and then I just rinse and dry for next time.

That’s the prettiest Nudestix shade I’ve ever seen (but I love shimmer and sparkles). The warm tone would look terrible on me, but it looks fantastic on Taryn.
