Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. In fact, it's one of our readers' top picks for Best Fitness Subscription Boxes of 2020! The VIP Membership is $49.95/month and allows you to choose from outfits and sets that have been put together just for members at a discounted price.

You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $24 for new VIP members.
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Put simply, this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages as other services do. (But they will automatically charge you if you take no action.) You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call Fabletics customer service to do so.

VIP Membership Updates:

Recently, I received an email stating that my VIP Membership was changing...for the better. What does this mean? According to the FAQ's on their website, they will be dropping new styles every week instead of every month, and each month, when you are charged the $49.95, you will be issued a member credit, which is redeemable for any item or outfit up to $80!

FYI, COVID-19 Update:

Ready, Set, Ship: Our shipping times are now 100% back to normal & select retail stores have reopened, but health & safety is still our top priority. Read more here.

Fabletics VIP Membership Review - January 2021

This month was interesting... it was my first experience with the new changes to the VIP membership and there are definitely some positives and negatives to the whole sitch. First of all, I found new styles dropped on January 1st. That's typical, but because my account wasn't yet charged, I didn't have a "member credit" yet, so I wanted to wait to order. After day 5, I contacted customer service to see when they would be billing my account to receive my credit. I was told it would be somewhere around day 7-10. Finally, on day 8 I received my credit and went online to order. In the FAQ's they mentioned dropping new styles weekly, so I figured I would have new items to pick from, but didn't really find that to be the case. On the 1st I created a favorites list based on my size, and by the time day 8 rolled around and I had my credit, none of those outfits were available. It went from 2 full pages of outfits selected for me, to 1 partial page. I have to admit, I was a little bummed. That being said, since I ordered, I have noticed new outfits in my size, so I may have just jumped the gun. I like the fact that the membership credit can be used on outfits up to $80, but can see a downside if you don't want to purchase an entire outfit. I'm excited to play around with dates and options in the next few months and am excited to see how this new system all pans out. What were your experiences? Be sure to share in the comments and check out what I received this month below.

High-Waisted SculptKnit Legging - Retail Value $59.95 / VIP Member Price $49.95 or purchase as Take Care 2-Piece Outfit - VIP 1 Member Credit or $69.95

Made out of 90% nylon and 10% elastane, these moisture-wicking, chafe-resistant leggings compress and contour in all the right places. While I generally prefer a thicker legging, this particular pair is extremely comfortable, light, and high-waisted – perfect for a yoga session or run. This pair of leggings does not feature a pocket, which I admittedly was bummed about, but stayed up through my entire 4-mile walking workout video. As for the color, I felt the name "rose brown" was a bit misleading... per the pictures on the website, I was under the impression that these would be more of a dusty pink, but found them to be wayyyy more tan/brown. While I enjoyed the fit, I felt the color left me looking like I wasn't wearing bottoms at all! I might have to give these a try in the fluorescent pink color for better contrast.

Luna Long-Sleeve Pullover - Retail Value $79.95/ VIP Member Price $64.95 or purchase as Take Care 2-Piece Outfit - VIP 1 Member Credit or $69.95

I'll be the first to admit, crop tops are not my favorite. I would much rather have a full-length sweatshirt, but this charcoal gray shirt stuck out to me, and I just had to give it a whirl. Made from 70% Rayon, 15% Cotton, 11% Polyester, and 4% Elastane I fell in love with this silky, soft fabric. This shirt is loose enough to be flattering, while also trendy. I like the high collar and felt it covered my mom-belly just right. Because I am cheap, I would never spend the retail value on this top, but as part of the outfit, I think it was a fair deal, and have found myself lounging around the house wearing it, while also using it for exercise.

Isn't this pairing cozy as can be? I love the fit and feel of those leggings, but I feel like some of those photos look as if I'm not wearing bottoms!

The Verdict: This month of Fabletics was interesting. After a delightful December, I was hoping to be wowed by the new VIP membership program in January, and sadly I can't say that I was. While I did end up getting an outfit I liked, my top faves were sold out at the time of purchase. Now, after a bit of research, I see I should have held out a bit longer, but at the same time, I didn't want to chance it. This particular outfit was a really good deal, as I received the entire outfit for $49.95 instead of $69.95, but I probably won't dare to wear the leggings out of the house becauseof the color. The crop top ended up being a win for me this month, and even though I prefer longer lengths, I have gotten a lot more use out of it than I thought. I can't wait to see what type of styles they drop next month!

Can you still get this set if you sign up today? Possibly, as all items are still available but in limited sizes.

Value Breakdown: If you were to order the items without using your membership credit, you would pay $69.95, or $20 more than the monthly $49.95. Check out all of our Fabletics reviews and the best 2020 workout clothing subscriptions for women and men!

I really like Fabletics. I think the quality is good and I wear my leggings often. They are super comfortable and have been on regular rotation during the pandemic. I normally wear mine with an oversize tunic or hoodie to cover my backside. I love the variety of colors etc.

Thanks for commenting Debi! I like the idea of the oversize tunic, especially with my fleshy colored pair, especially for heading out in public! I am excited to check out what Fabletics will have in store for February. I’d really be interested in some red leggings….let’s hope I can get my hands on some!

Thanks for commenting Marissa! I’d be game for a pair of those sculptknit pants in light blue! I’ll have to keep my eye open for another pair because they are extremely comfortable and functional!

I love the sculptknit pants! I have them in light blue and they are sooooo great at staying up even on my size 10 self. Less forgiving than other styles but great for squats and runs without adjusting. I agree on the color of those, i like them but they are NOT rose
