Overall Favorites

Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from a variety of outdoors, beauty, food subscriptions – and more. Here are our favorite subscription box items from November 2020:

Carlos's Favorite:

The Item: Batman Fold-up Backpack

Cost: This item is exclusive to the Subscription

From: DC Comics World’s Finest Collection

Why I love it: Like everything in this subscription, this backpack is a branded, exclusive item from the DC universe. While not huge, this pack is great for a day trip or packing the kids up for an overnight at grandma’s. I’m a big Batman fan and I like the idea of someone asking me where I got this item so I can tell them about the DC Comics World’s Finest Collection subscription.

Lindsey's Favorite:

Home Chef Thanksgiving Sides - green bean casserole

The Item: Caramelized Onion and Green Bean Casserole

The Cost: Home Chef meals for 2 start at $6.99 per serving, and shipping is free for orders over $49. Holiday Sides start at $2.66 per serving.

From: Home Chef

Why I love it: Would you believe I’d never had green bean casserole before this box? I’ll happily eat anything put in front of me and love trying new things, but somehow green bean casserole fell into my blind spot for all these years. I was excited to see it included in Home Chef’s “Thanksgiving Sides” box, and I couldn’t wait to finally try this holiday staple. I usually err on the side of healthy with my Thanksgiving veggies (my go-to's are roasted root vegetables and sautéed garlicky greens) in hopes they’ll balance out my more decadent favorites (like stuffing, corn pudding, and mac & cheese), but consider me casserole-converted. Home Chef’s green beans were rich, creamy, and delicious.

Megan's Favorite:

sketch box with art supplies

The Item: My entire November Sketchbox!

The Cost: $35 + $5 U.S. shipping.

From: Sketchbox

ACTIVE DEAL: Save $5 off your first box!
CODE: SKETCH5

Why I love it: Let's just say that the pastel and almost springy shades in this month's box gave me major nostalgia for warmer times outside. I kind of really, really needed that this season!

Christen's Favorite:

Camp Life Outdoor Essentials karmik outdoors gear finders

The Item: Karmik Outdoors Hi-Viz Decals

The Cost: $3.99 each

From: The Camp Life Outdoor Essentials

ACTIVE DEAL: 15% off your first crate. No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why I love it: I was pretty pumped to learn about these lost & found decals when I received them in my Camp Life box, and my enthusiasm for them has only grown in the weeks since. I love that they’re small but high-visibility and that they have a built-in reward for if and when someone finds and returns your gear. I ended up buying three packs as Christmas gifts for friends and family members!

Becca's Favorite:

The Item: Mosaic Tray Kit

The Cost: $39.95

From: Adults & Crafts

Why I love it: Prior to this, I have had little experience with grout, and this subscription has given me the ability to be able to design my own pattern and create my very own mosaic serving tray. While a bit intimidating at first, the instructions were easy to follow and guided me to a great looking finished project. I had a lot of fun with this project, and see more tiling in my future!

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

The Cost: Retail Value $16.00 (on sale for $12.89 in paperback)

From: Book of the Month

Why I love it: I love a good cheesy romance and 2020 seems like a year where this kind of fictional escapism should be welcome. I really enjoyed the main character, who was somewhat like a less awkward Bridget Jones, and this story of how she found romance with the man who she grew up thinking had stolen her luck since birth. I enjoyed the way the story was told and how the events unfolded and while yes, some parts were cheesy and maybe a bit predictable, it was still a great read. I found it comforting and sweet and it was nice getting caught up in their little world for awhile!

Jessica's Favorite:

The Item: Deep Magic Shower Steamer

The Cost: Box Exclusive - purchase other shower steamers here.

From: Fortune Cookie Soap Box

Why I love it: I love aromatherapy with my showers, and this little puck of goodness was scented with rosemary, mint, and garden herbs. This added a refreshing zing to my steamy shower, and I would happily use more of these if I could get my hands on them.

Ragan's Favorite:

The Item: Kitty Cat Cooling Rack

The Cost:Retail Value $18.99

From: CatLadyBox

ACTIVE DEAL: 20% off your first box
CODE: MSA20

Why I love it: I have never received an item like this in a subscription box before, so there are definitely novelty points. But I made a pie recently and I had a chance to use this and it's great for a pie.  It's smaller than some of my other cooling racks and just makes more sense for certain baked goods. (The whole box was pretty great this month and it was  hard to pick one favorite.)

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
