Birchbox is one of the original beauty subscription boxes and is a great way to discover new makeup, hair care, and skincare products without breaking the bank. I received one of the two curated Clean Beauty options.

FYI: Starting in June 2020, in addition to the surprise sample box option, there will be two curated boxes offered in greater quantities than the previous curated options: The Clean Beauty Box and the Katia’s Picks box. Get all the details here.

Birchbox Review November 2020

As always, this month’s Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

ARROW Detangling Texture & Protect Spray 1 fl oz – Estimated Value $7.06 (Buy a full-size 3.4 fl oz for $24.00 here)

This Arrow Detangling Texture & Protect Spray is designed to easily detangle, moisturize, and smooth all textures of hair. It provides lightweight texture for the perfect style every time and protects hair from any heat styling. The product has a unique light, spicy musk scent. After spraying onto my clean, damp hair, I was able to easily comb through any tangles to the ends before blowdrying. Formulated with baobab seed protein, avocado oil, and mango seed butter, this product is perfect for defending against heat damage, hydrating, and general ease in styling.

Generation Skin Hydration Marine Algae Eye Patches, 1 Pair – Estimated Value $1.63 (Buy a full-size 30 Pairs for $49.00 here)

I am a huge fan of under-eye patches. I’m almost always tired and looking for a way to get rid of the grocery bags under my eyes. Generation Skin’s Hydration Marine Algae Eye Patches are formulated with marine algae and hyaluronic acid to firm, soothe, plump, brighten, and hydrate your under eyes. I stuck these eye patches in my skincare fridge and popped them on before an early morning Zoom meeting and they woke me right up. My under eyes were less puffy and the delicate skin there was left super soft and hydrated. The consistency of the patches was very nice and not overly slimy, but they stuck well under my eyes and didn’t slide out of place. After using, I felt wide awake, alert, and enthusiastic!

too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer, 10 ml – Estimated Value $7.20 (Buy a full-size 50 ml for $36.00 here)

This too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer is a powerhouse multitasker with five uses. The product can be utilized as a serum, a neck cream, a moisturizer, an eye cream, or a sleeping mask. The moisturizer has a rich, creamy texture that is also light and airy and a light delectable, warm scent that somehow reminds me of a spiced latte or a chai. After use, my skin felt dewy and bright, and not greasy or sticky. The product went on smoothly and absorbed quickly. I’m a huge fan of K-beauty, and this product was just as exceptional as others I’ve tried. Formulated with egg yolk, this little powerhouse is anti-aging and collagen-infused to firm, hydrate, and plump skin.

Kiss & Smink The Everything in Santorini, 5 g – Full Size! Retail Value $20.00

Kiss & Smink’s The Everything in Santorini is truly a multi-purpose product. This cream stick can be used to deliver a delicate cherry red flush to your cheeks, lips, or eyelids. I found the biggest color payoff to be on the lips and I love the delicate natural flush it brings. It is beautiful and natural, with a subtle shimmer that makes it look like your lips are reflecting bits of sun rays. I like to keep this on my desk to bump up my house troll look in between Zoom meetings. The texture is creamy but lightweight and didn’t leave me feeling like I had chicken grease all over my lips.

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black, 0.3 ml – Estimated Value $16.50 (Buy a full-size 0.4 ml for $22.00 here)

I love Eyeko eyeliners. I feel like almost everyone does. The company just makes a great eyeliner with a wonderfully precise felt tip applicator. This Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black is no exception. The dark, dramatic color gives my tired, sleepy morning eyes a bold, defined, confident look. The narrow pen tip that I’ve come to love from Eyeko brand eyeliners is perfect for precise application, even if you haven’t had your first coffee yet, and is inspired by traditional calligraphy pens. With this applicator, I find that I have excellent control over how thick or thin I want to make my liner. We’ve all been there… You mess up the liner and you keep trying to fix it and it gets thicker and thicker and thicker until, well, let’s just say it’s not a good look. The formula applies smoothly, doesn’t smudge, and lasts all day long.

Birchbox Jade Roller, 1 Piece – Full Size! Retail Value $12.00

This Birchbox Jade Roller is a Birchbox exclusive, a product designed by Birchbox specifically for subscribers! We all know the benefits of using a jade roller… The ancient Chinese beauty ritual that helps to reduce puffiness, boost circulation, and stimulate lymphatic drainage. I love to keep my jade rollers in the fridge for a nice chill that tightens and drastically reduces puffiness from my under eyes to the rest of my face. The roller is very well made and feels heavy and sturdy. The handle is compact; perfect for travel and on-the-go use. The stone feels cooling and refreshing on my face. I’m happy to see that Birchbox is incorporating lifestyle products and beauty tools in their boxes. I really enjoyed the unexpected change-up.

Verdict: I really enjoyed this month’s Birchbox! I love that I received the Jade Roller as a beauty product in the box. It’s excitingly different, and something I couldn’t have predicted. The Generation Skin Hydrating Marine Algae Eye Patches was another item I truly enjoyed this month. I constantly try to find a way to care for the delicate skin under my eyes, and these gel patches are an easy way to incorporate an eye care step into my skincare routine. The delicious warm scent of the too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer made this product incredibly enticing to me and wonderfully enjoyable to use. I’m all for anything that will firm up my skin and prevent aging. The Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black is a great main staple product and useful addition to this month’s box. The Arrow Detangling Texture & Protect Spray worked well to ease the detangling process of my curls and had a unique but pleasant scent. Lastly, Kiss & Smink’s The Everything in Santorini gives my lips a lovely flush and a natural glow. The total retail value of this box is $64.93! That is amazing for a $15 box, and I am super impressed with the incorporation of lifestyle/beauty tool products.
