BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs.

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the medium size, which is recommended for dogs 20-50 lbs. We recently changed the size because Tucker, our Standard Poodle, is the most playful pup in the house when it comes to toys.

FYI: Two of my dogs are quite old! Piper (the minpin) has to eat soft food and has trouble with hard treats. Charlie is a pug and a glutton who will eat LITERALLY anything. They both still really enjoy toys, though it has been years since either of them managed to destroy anything.

If you have a younger pup or just one who needs toys of the rough and tumble variety, I highly recommend trying the Super Chewer subscription (read our reviews to learn more!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

November 2020 BarkBox "Dogsgiving" Review

The details behind our items this month were printed inside, on the box lining.

The October box included 2 toys, 2 bags of treats, and a chew - this is close to what you can expect with your monthly subscription, though it does vary for everyone once in a while.

A lot of these items are marked as 'Sold Out' on the BarkBox app - but they have a little 'As Seen In BarkBox' section of the BarkShop where you can grab items featured in monthly themes.

Gobble Gobble Turkey Treats, 4.5 oz - Retail Value $5.00

Heck yeah! Nothing like turkey treats to kick off the holiday spirit. Truthfully, my dogs will eat anything that is a treat (and I caught Charlie trying to eat a rock once) but I love that these feel festive. They are a rectangular thin shape which means they are easily broken into smaller pieces for Piper!

Piper is about 800 years old but she still begs really cute! Charlie would honestly eat anything offered to him.

Turkey and Sweet Potato Jerky Treats, 4 oz - Retail Value $5.00

These were a little tough for my little lady Piper but the boys absolutely loved them. Tucker has a thing for sweet potatoes and he seemed to especially enjoy the jerky texture and chewiness here.

Speaking of cute beggars...

Oven-Barked Turkey Toy - Retail Value $10.00

This toy made me laugh out loud when I saw it. It is a two-piece adventure. The first piece is an incredibly crinkly turkey with a large squeaker inside. It is hollow because it also comes with a can of dog food that you can insert into the turkey. The can is just one GIANT squeaky! Tucker made the best use of the giant can, while the others enjoyed the crinkle factor of the turkey.

This can immediately captured Charlie's attention, mostly because it is super loud and he is into that. Piper was quickly also interested. I had to move it to the couch because Charlie is losing mobility in his back legs and playing on our slick floor isn't ideal for him. (our Ruggable was in the wash!). Piper soon had taken over both the turkey AND the can.

Mashed Puptatoes Toy - Retail Value $10.00

I personally didn't love the design of this toy (and I wasn't even sure of what it was at first) but the dogs LOVED it. I think this is mostly because the crinkle factor is huge here. The entire blue bowl portion is crinkle city. There was also a nice squeakiness here and the plush sherpa-like texture of the potatoes were both hits too.

As a turkey consolation prize, I offered the mashed potatoes to Charlie. He was a fan! All three pups ended up cycling through all the toys until they all fell asleep on the couch.

BARK Chicken Stick Chew - Retail Value $3.00

This is Tucker's fave part of the box since he never has to share it. He enjoyed this one while we were alone in my studio late one night.

Verdict: BarkBox always delivers an adorable November box. I loved the food-themed toys and treats and so did the dogs. The favorite toy was by far the turkey + canned food combo. It was hilarious as well as super playful! The dogs look forward to this box every single month and it makes me really happy too!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first theme will be the December box!

Value Breakdown: At $35/month + free shipping for this box, each of the 5 items has an average cost of $7.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m confused as to why the price for this box is listed as $29 in the intro, and then it’s $35 in the value breakdown.

I ‘bit’ and ordered for my dogger. He doesn’t play with toys often, but he loves that can. I put a treat between the can and the turkey, and he worked for 10 minutes to get it out. I’m impressed with the customer service. I was able to switch to toys only, and I made the comment that the mashed was too big, and they sent a replacement toy. 23lb Parsons Russell, he’s on the edge of small and medium, so I appreciated their help.

Megan, I adore every picture of your pug! Our sweet pug Louie passed away last summer at age 17. I fondly think of him every time I see your pup : ) Same wild eyes, lol!

In November, Barkbox sent our things in a BAG. Very strange. Also, our add on toy was not included. I had a great experience with their chat customer service and was credited a free box for my troubles.

I just received my December Barkbox, and they sent us a SuperChewer box for a M-L size dog: We have a 6 pound yorkshire and a regular Barkbox sub! I again chatted with customer service and they are sending a replacement.

I LOVE Barkbox–their toys are so fun and creative and their treats are made of fantastic ingredients. But as I can attest, something is definitely going on with the fulfillment side of the business. If this replacement is also incorrect, I may need to skip a month or two until they are back to their usual hecka awesome selves.

I have to agree that that tongue is truly just spectacular! I got the turkey leg and the mac & cheese, and my little Yorkie just adores the turkey leg! He is obsessed with it and I think it’s his favorite toy of all time, and he has at least 100 toys, I know, I know, it’s ridiculous but yes my first puppy and deserves it!!!

Although I agree, I really didn’t like the design of the mac & cheese or the mashed potatoes because they just didn’t look too much like what they should.

I am glad the dogs liked the mashed potatoes more than I did, for sure.
And I also love that silly little tongue!

I think they are pretty cute too! I always joke that if someone ever broke into our house they would only see dog pictures. 🐶
