Tribe Beauty Box "Italian Summers" August 2020 Review

Here is the info sheet for the box.

Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch, 24 ct - Retail Value $6

I've used these hydrocolloid patches before, and I am kind of meh about them. They aren't as sticky as some of the ones I prefer, and the smaller sizes of some of the patches don't usually fit my huge pimples. That being said, these are definitely some of the more affordable pimple patches you will find on the market, so I think if you have acne-prone skin with frequent breakouts that result in whiteheads, these may work well for you.

Nomad Cosmetics Lake Como Palette - Retail Value $27

*Subscribers were able to choose between this palette or the Glamlite Cosmetics Kaliente Palette

I was pleasantly surprised by this palette. I remember at some point long ago being told that blue eyes shouldn't wear blue eyeshadow, but this palette is packed with some gorgeous blues I was excited to play with. The performance on both the mattes and shimmers were great - the mattes had good pigment and weren't patchy, and the shimmers applied well with a brush instead of requiring a finger application. I don't really know what to make with the yellow shades on this palette, but man, do I love the blues. My favorite is the slightly shimmery Spezzato which is unlike any other eyeshadow I have in my (very big) arsenal.

Here are the swatches. You can see the eyeshadow look I did further down in this review.

Jaboneria Marianella Oak Moss & Coconut Body Shimmering Oil, 2 oz - Retail Value $36

I love a nice body oil, and considering I have pale legs that some would call "pasty" I don't mind adding some shimmer to the mix. These are made in small batches, and I enjoyed the earthy fragrance from notes of oakmoss, coconut, and mulberry. You only need a little bit, too- this has coconut, argan, and marula oil to nourish your skin, but if you're not careful you'll cross the line from glossy to greasy.

Luxie Beauty Duo Fibre Powder Brush #516 - Retail Value $25

I am no stranger to Luxie brushes, but I am being genuine when I say "the more the merrier." I can say with past experience of this same brush that it holds up well in performance as well as being cleaned, and the dual fibers make this work for both powder and cream products.

Luxie Beauty Precision Foundation Brush #660 - Retail Value $23

This is designed for liquid or cream foundations, but I prefer a denser brush when I want a seamless liquid foundation application. I think this would also work well for a blush or setting powder even though it's not marketed that way, or as an initial application of foundation before I go back in with a beauty blender to finish the job. The brush is well-constructed, and the bristles are soft.

Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek in Rendezvous/Swipe, 2 x 2.1 g- Retail Value $22

This is a great makeup item if you're on the go. It includes two balms (a clear and a berry shade), and the berry shade can be applied to both lips and cheeks while the clear shade can go on lips, any dry patches, or to smooth over some unruly brows. Mine actually arrived slightly broken - the performance of the product wasn't affected, but the small broken plastic piece meant that the bottom level won't latch to close properly. A quick email to customer service was all it took for them to offer to ship a replacement.

Here I am wearing the Rendezvous shade sheerly applied to the apples of my cheeks as well as my lips. For my eyes, I applied Spezzato all over my lid before blending in a mix of both Aquarama and Bella Figura in the outer corner. To finish, I took the shade Mozzafiato with a liner brush and applied it as an eyeliner. What do you think?

The Verdict: I thought this month's Tribe Beauty Box was much better than the previous one I received. I really enjoy stepping out of my comfort zones with the Lake Como palette, and the performance of the shadows were much better than the palette in the last box. The other palette subscribers could have received is from Glamlite, and that is a brand I have been seeing allll over Instagram lately. I appreciate that Wander Beauty, Luxie, and Cosrx are all brands that I have name recognition with, and overall I thought this box was nicely curated with quality products. The total value isn't something to sneeze at, either - everything adds up to $139.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I think we were told not to wear blue eye shadow back in the day because there was only one blue shade in a single package and no one knew how to apply it.

This is the box to beat in my opinion and a lot of others like Harpers Bazaar and Pop Sugar.
This sub is female owned and delivers Indie brands in a purposefully curated sub. I love this box and Billi B, the owner. She gives tutorials on the choice items before choosing. Remarkable young woman.

I love that eyeshadow on you!

I am always drawn to palettes with teals and blues, but I almost never wear them. I feel like they require more skill than I have or something. I don’t know, It seems like pinks, oranges, yellows, corals, etc. are more forgiving. Nomad shadows are so good though.

Please tell me you’ve finally watched “The Princess Bride” after the Fortune Cookie review, right? I totally get that you guys are inundated with products to schmear and promote, but some context is still cool.

Personally, this box is too eye shadow and high maintenance focused makeup for my taste, but to each their own. Might be a generational thing.

People can wear whatever makes them happy 💌🎶

I usually don’t wear blue eyeshadow.. But why not? I have blue hair and love a blue lipstick. 🎼🎵

I love this attitude!! People should wear what they want and what makes them happy. I pick makeup that inspires me and that I get excited to put on. I don’t really let anything else influence my beauty choices at this point in my life. Life is too short for all that
