Rocksbox Jewelry August 2020 Review + First Month Free!

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and renting service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy the pieces they love most at a discounted price. Right now, you can even get your first month of Rocksbox membership for free! (Read on to learn how, or check out our list of other free subscription boxes here!)

FYI – COVID-19 Update: You can read about how Rocksbox is committed to the safety of its team, subscribers, and community here.

Upon subscribing, you’ll take a “style survey” so Rocksbox can suggest jewelry pieces that fit your style. You can also browse their catalog and add pieces to your wishlist. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your wishlist.

Try on the items from the box and wear them as long as you’d like. From there, you have two choices. If you love any of the pieces enough to want to keep them, you can put your monthly “Shine Credit” towards your purchase.

Or, if you’re ready for another style, return your box using the free shipping label and reusable envelope you got with your shipment. Shortly after, you’ll get a brand new box of jewelry to enjoy!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Here’s the info booklet that came with the jewelry set. It includes a product list with retail and member-specific pricing. Also included was a jewelry care card.

A free return shipping label is also at the bottom of the box.

FYI: The outer envelope that Rocksbox ships inside doubles as a return shipping envelope! Be careful as you cut it open—there’s a second adhesive strip that can be used to reseal the envelope for its trip back.

Kate Spade Geo Gem Drops – Retail Value $58.00, Member Price $58.00

I think these have been on my wishlist for literally over a year! I was really thrilled to see them finally arrive inside one of my boxes. They are just as pretty as I had hoped, and such a statement without being large. I love the watermelon tourmaline-esque crystal. It catches the light beautifully and the green to pink fade is really unique but somehow goes with everything.

Pretty! (Excuse that blemish spot! Times are tough on my jawline.)

Rudiment Divisadero Huggies – Retail Value $75.00, Member Price $63.00

I have two holes in my left ear and I am contemplating a few more just to be able to layer cute studs and huggie-style earrings like these! I love this style because since there is no open post, they don’t stab you in the neck if you sleep in them, and I sleep in similar earrings nightly. The mix of the turquoise-colored stones and the edgier black is such a fun look. I am also kind of into asymmetrical earrings right now and I could really have fun wearing a different color in each ear at the same time.

Love ’em!

Kate Spade Resin Hoops – Retail Value $88.00, Member Price $88.00

My last earrings were a larger resin pair with a reversible design. My ears are closer to my head so swapping these back and forth made them look like two different earrings, one tortoise and the other olive green. Though these were larger, they were really lightweight. They look pretty chic with nearly any top I own!

If this isn’t a fall palette I don’t know what is.

The Verdict: My Rocksbox pieces this round were all earrings, which is actually just fine with me! They are really the only things that make a massive statement on Zoom and the right paid can make a sweatshirt look very chic! I don’t think I could pick a fave from these selections this month because all were so different yet totally perfect for my style.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer’s tastes and what’s available at the time. You can, however, give the Rocksbox stylists a nudge by adding your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

COUPON: Use code mysubaddictxoxo to get your first month free!

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21.00 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $221.00. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing (including the buy-all-three-items discount, and the $21.00 of Shine Credit [the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases]), my $10 forever credit, and the $10 buy-all-three discount, that price drops to $163.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. The jewelry looks great and very wearable. I enjoyed registering and selecting my first 3 pieces.

However, and this is a big “however,” despite using the code “MYSUBADDICTXOXO” which is supposed to make your first rocksbox subscription box free, I was charged $22.68. To be clear, I applied the code during checkout. Indeed, the code reduced the price from $21 to $0. In fact, there was zero indication that there was an error with the code. Nevertheless, rocksbox charged me $22.68.

    So, be careful!

    • Hey Tina,
I noticed that too, but that is just their authorization and the $22.68 was always a pending account that never actually went through. That amount fell off my account. 🙂
