GlitzGlam August 2020 Review

This month's GlitzGlam Box came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a menu of items available for purchase on the back.

UCANBE Sweet Party Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $9.99

This Sweet Party Eyeshadow Palette by UCANBE is in the colorway Berry Cola. Hello Summer and Fall, because this eye palette is serving colors for both! Upon opening this palette, I was incredibly impressed by the color options. Both pigment and shimmer shadows are present, allowing for a ton of fun eye makeup looks. Swatching was fun! The colors are so vibrant and a little goes a long way!

Eyeshadows: 1, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15.

While there are no specific names for the colors in the palette, UCANBE lists the colors as numbers and splits them between eyeshadows and pigments. Even the lightest shades really show on my skin!

Pigments : 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 14

Get into these colors! I'm not a huge fan of red, but this red (#5) is probably my fave shadow out of this palette.

Hikari Iridescent Glitter Gloss in Pink Lady - Retail Value $17

This Iridescent Glitter Gloss by Hikari in the color Pink Lady is giving me major Grease Pink Ladies vibes! Eye-catching, this color is pretty pigmented, and though it says iridescent, expect a pink hue to come through more than a little bit.

While I prefer neutral glosses, I wasn't disappointed with this item. It glides on really smoothly and it smells so good (kind of a like a cupcake)!

The enclosed card stated that this gloss was color transforming, so I tried it out on a matte lipstick I had lying around. The first swatch is the matte lippie by itself. The second swatch is the matte lipstick with the gloss over it. The second swatch definitely has more of a pink glimmer highlight to it, which I'm really loving!

Tie Dye Eyeshadow Brush - Listed Value $3

I love tie dye ANYTHING, and this eyeshadow brush by GlitzGlam is no exception! It's a standard makeup brush: cute design, soft bristles, and small enough to fit in any makeup bag or purse which is always a nice plus.

The enclosed card said this brush is great for "packing on shadow or blending" so you know I had to try! The first swatch is a simple brush application of eyeshadow. The second swatch is built on a bit. The second swatch is more dense for sure, but it also took me a lot of packing on to get just a smidge of a more dense look. I would depend on this solely for a more brush and go look, since the bristles are so soft.

Kara Beauty Fabulash Faux Mink Lashes - Retail Value $5.99

DIVA! These "fabulash" lashes are by Kara Beauty and they make me want to find an event to go to, throw on a ball gown, and blink and wink all night JUST to show these off! They are so soft, and the multi-dimension gives added glam. Kara Beauty's website stated they can last up to 10-15 wears. I can't wait to take them up on that!

The Verdict: Overall, I am very pleased with the items in this month's GlitzGlam Box! My favorite of the bunch is definitely the eyeshadow palette. The colors are fun, super pigmented, and wash off so easily with soap and water. I was really surprised by the iridescent glitter gloss! While not completely crazy about it at first, I really like it combined with a matte lipstick to add that bit of glimmer and shine. The total value of this $15 + $2.99 shipping box lands around $35.98, which is double the box cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Sadly, no, because they are preparing their September box. BUT, you can shop on their website and get similar items!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $17.99 ($15.00 + $2.99 shipping), and I estimate that I received $35.98 in value. That means each item approximately breaks down as follows:

  • Eyeshadow - $5.00
  • Gloss - $8.50
  • Brush - $1.50
  • Lashes - $3.00

Lilah, do you get to choose the palette you want? I like the Diamonds palette but would not be interested in Hearts. TY

Hi Patsy, we don’t get to choose, but there is an option to get both. It’s under the “Double the glam” tab for an additional $12.

Make up reviews are so much more beneficial if you can actually see the product in use. I would have loved to see a full face with this review or at the very least a picture of the eye make up and lashes.

This box did not have one single item that was Not made in China!

Hikari is the same private-labeled stuff as Be a Bombshell, INT, & South Mane. I personally don’t trust their stuff after Be a Bombshell sent out a bad mascara in Ipsy, & handled the backlash very poorly.

Tiffany Nicole, the September palette is the Rude Cosmetics Face Card Palette. You get either the Queen of Hearts or the Queen of Diamonds. It’s very cute. I just signed up 🙂

Tiffany Nicole

Do you know which Rude Cosmetics palette they are sending out in September? I got a Rude Palette from Fashionsta last year and really like it so I wouldn’t mind signing up for this box and getting another

Stephanie

Really? It’s all made in the PRC from unknown companies.

Rude is an American brand, which I absolutely love, but they are made in China. Look at your packaging, it will say made in PRC. So many brands are made there. I still love and support the brand though.

Judith Acosta

Not always, They’re sending a Rude cosmetic palette in Sept, that’s a Made in the US brand
