Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. In fact, it's one of our readers' top picks for Best Fitness Subscription Boxes of 2020! The VIP Membership is $49.95/month and allows you to choose from outfits and sets that have been put together just for members at a discounted price.

You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $24.00 for new VIP members. (It's unclear if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Put simply, this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages like other services do. (But they will automatically charge you if you take no action.) You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

FYI, COVID-19 Update:

Ready, Set, Ship: Our shipping times are now 100% back to normal & select retail stores have reopened, but health & safety is still our top priority. Read more here.

Fabletics VIP Membership Review - September 2020

If you read my review last month, you will know that my shipment arrived a little later than expected, but did show up, unlike the previous month, so I was curious to see how September would pan out. On September 1st, I meant to get up at 3:00 a.m. to get my order in before the website started crashing, but being it was my first day back to work after summer vacation, I completely forgot and ended up not being able to order until around 4:00 p.m. when much of the inventory was sold out. BUMMER!!! Next month I will be absolutely sure to set my alarm on the eve of October 1st for my ultimate picks! While they were sold out of my dream outfit, I did manage to find an alternative that I liked almost as much. I do have to say this month's shipping timeline was fantastic this month as I placed my order on September 1st, and received it on September 5th...speedy!! Let's see how it worked out!

Sync High-Waisted Perforated 7/8 Leggings - Retail Value $49.95/VIP Member Price $39.95

While I am more of a dark color leggings sort of gal, I couldn't resist the cute and unique perforation this pair of light grey heather leggings featured! Unlike the Oasis High-Waisted Twist 7/8 Leggings I chose last month, these felt more like a thick pair of tights to me than a pair of leggings. Made from 92% nylon, and 8% elastane, they came with a label stating: "Due to the delicate nature of this garment, please be sure to hang dry and avoid wearing jewelry that may easily snag the fabric." Ugh...that is a little more maintenance than I am looking for in a pair of leggings! I also noticed that last month's leggings fit me perfectly, while these almost seemed a bit small. I don't know if it was the light color or material, but I felt like you could see every dimple and crease in this pair compared to previous months. I am a fan of the perforated legs, as that detail is absolutely adorable, but wished these would have come with a pocket. While these worked fine for my daily workouts and lounging around the house, I do prefer last month's leggings to these.

Loveday Tank - Retail Value $39.95/VIP Member Price $29.95

Because I am always looking for a deal, I tend to check the $49.95 outfit section first when ordering from Fabletics. Because my first pick outfit was sold out in my size, I chose my backup which included the above leggings and this lilac purple top. This soft and snuggly lilac top is a pretty traditional tank, but has slits up the sides, tacked sleeve seams, and is quite loose in the armpit area. The model pictured on their website shows it worn loose, as well as tied in a knot. I tend to like my workout gear on the loose side, but hate humongous armpit holes! I truly wish these fit a bit more snug as I get self-conscious about my bra hanging out. Other than that, I felt the shirt fit well and was comfortable to walk, run, and lounge in. I also think it will look cute under my black Nara hoodie I received last month once the weather cools down!

Here is the full outfit. While I generally gravitate towards darker fabrics, I found this lilac and grey outfit to be a welcome addition to my workout gear!

The Verdict: Like I said above, this month's leggings just weren't my favorite, but now I know what type of fabric to look for in the future! Besides the huge arm holes, the tank top was exactly what I was looking for, and I really found that I liked the lilac color, especially when paired with a black bra. I couldn't believe the incredibly fast shipping this month, but I definitely need to remember to get up extra early for my first choice pick! I can't wait to see what Fabletics has in store for us in October. I'm hoping for something in orange with pockets!!

Can you still get this set if you sign up today? Possibly, as all items are still available but in limited sizes.

Value Breakdown: If you were to order all items separate as a VIP member, your order total would be $69.90, but because it was offered as a set for $49.95 I saved $19.95!

Super review, Becca! I like your honesty about the process and the items. I’m not a fan of humongous armpit holes either, but the color of the tank is lovely on you.

Can I ask: what do people do with 12 workout outfits/year? Do you wear them for casual wear, or do you workout every day and only repeat workout outfits 2X/month?

Reply ButtonReply

Amy Nicole

Yeah l think most people consider these to just be normal clothing. I have never subscribed or purchased from fabletics but it seems to be considered casual wear.

Sometimes I workout, or play outside twice a day. So, that’s not even a weeks worth!

MissJ

Hmm. My conclusion of you is you don’t workout. At all 😂

Charlotte

I work out five days a week and I don’t have special workout clothes.🤷‍♀️ Just leggings and t-shirts that I also wear for lounging in.

Honestly, unless you’re doing something really high performance, I don’t think you need special “workout outfits.” Just admit you like looking cute at the gym.

Lawden

I go to a group fitness gym ( Orangetheory) and go give days a week so 12 outfits isn’t even enough for me lol!

MissJ

Lol, you have more than 12 outfits for throughout the year, right? I workout 6 days a week, so there’s 6 outfits right there. It’s nice to have variety and different things depending on your workout. It’s really not that many.

@Beth Ellen: my big take away from this thread is that some folks only do laundry once or twice a month….

Beth Ellen

Or we work out so hard that our clothes are drenched afterwards and we can’t let them sit around for a week before washing them. I run 20-50 miles per week and I have four pairs of running leggings for winter and maybe six pairs of running shorts. I don’t know what I would do with more. I guess I don’t think of working out as something that needs an “outfit.” It’s fine if others do, but please don’t think people who don’t buy a dozen cute “outfits” to work out in are not working out.

Lisa

I haven’t been with Fabletics in over three years and after reading your review it looks as though they have even more problems now. I’ve been with Ellie since last August and love them. They do have website issues, just like Fabletics but no shipping issues so far this year 🤞. Highly recommend Ellie if you don’t love Fabletics. Their prices are better and they offer a ton of cute outfits to choose from each month.

Gabbi

I want to try Ellie but according to their size chart, I wouldn’t fit in their tops or bras because of my chest size. In Fabletics I wear an XL top and XXL bra so I’m kind of confused at the size translation. How do you think the size difference is?

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Yeah, I think Ellie is maxed out at XL. They do have a chat feature on their website or you could email them with the question on when they plan to offer a more all inclusive size system.
