I’m really happy that ExfoliKate is in this box. The size they’re offering is actually worth $85, it’s listed wrong here. I think if you are excited for the hero product, it’s worth getting. If not, then it’s too much of a gamble on what else you might get. I need to cancel/pause all my subs for a while cause we have sudden home repairs to deal with, but I might keep boxy for just one more month to get my Kate Somerville choice next month. It’s just such a good deal!

I’ve been getting some really good boxes and even if there’s an item in the box I won’t use it’s something I can gift.
Speaking of adding bigger named brands that need to get rid of some inventory. That’s an upside for sure. I love Clarins and I have a lot of their makeup, skincare and self tanning products. I would love to see Boxycharm put more of their brand in the boxes. I would be happy to see Clinique, Este Lauder and especially Shiseido or Kevyn Aucoin. I am also a big fan of K Beauty so getting the latest KB brands to try excites me.

I’ve seen influencers complain on Youtube because they aren’t familiar with a brand in the box. They just want the makeup brands they know about. That irks me. There are a lot of great brands out there not at Sephora.

I received two items in this month’s box I might not have tried that I really like. The Real Her brow pencil. I have a ton of brow pencils but this one is hands down the best one I’ve tried and it really looks like my sparse brows are full but not painted on and it’s super easy for me to use. Then I got the Minetan serum. I have a lot of their tanning products but I wouldn’t have thought to try their serum. I don’t think I even knew they had one. It’s nice on the skin and I’ll continue to use it in rotation with the Ordinary and Cos de Baha serums.

The Clarins lip oil has been seen in a couple different Boxy subscriber surveys.

I’m paying attention cause I’ve had + loved a few of the travel size versions, lol.

Thank you for the information. I love Clarins a swell, and especially like Este Lauder. I’ve used Este Lauder and Clinique for a really long time, seeing these items in the box would also make me really happy. They can be pretty expensive.

My comments aren’t posting. My first Boxycharm was February 2016. It’s changed a lot. It’s better in some ways but I unsub a lot more often now. I used to get stuff I used more often. Now it seems as if I get a lot of good stuff but I don’t have much of a use for the stuff and I give it away. Like purple lipsticks and sheet masks and heavy duty face washed for more oily skin and the same plain boring neutral eyeshadow palettes or heavy scented creams. A lot of stuff that’s boring. What happened to the Charm of Boxy. I don’t know. Maybe it’s my age being 50. Or maybe it’s because the industry is changing a lot.

Cons: seems like they switched up the filler items to try & trick subscribers. Before, they would send filler stuff from brands that at least existed for a while & were known quantities, like Bellapierre & Jonteblu. Now, they work with people who spawn multiple private-label companies that seem to pop up every time they want to put a product in BoxyCharm, & they always claim a ridiculous retail value. (eg – Faccia skin moisturizer, Illuminati eyeliner set, KAB cosmetics lip kit)

They also sent out surveys a while back asking for subscribers opinions about BoxyCharm-branded products that haven’t been in boxes yet, but were truly awful. Since they have yet to appear, I’m sure they’re coming down the pipeline.

They still don’t customize based on your quiz, & still often send the wrong shade or item. (this month while reading unboxing posts I’ve seen: mismatched concealer shade, mismatched brow shades, & incorrect choice item)

Pros: Like the Ipsy CEO mentioned in an interview, it seems Boxy is also reaping the benefits of a slowdown in beauty consumption during the pandemic, & is able to work with brands that would not have been in a subscription box before (eg – Marc Jacobs, MAC, Clarins) & have more trendy Korean brands as well (eg – Glow Recipe, Saturday Skin, Kaja, Touch in Sol).

I also have had MUCH better (like, exponentially better) customer service from them recently (when I contacted them about a damaged item from a pop-up sale). I feel like I’ve seen others describe positive CS experiences more often, too (though that might be a confirmation bias on my part).

Thank you for the information. I’ll try them for a couple months. But sort of sounds like they aren’t as good as they used to be. I may get more benefit from just saving my money and buying what I want each month.

I think it’s a month-to-month type situation. If you like the “hero” item, Boxy is definitely a phenomenal deal. The catch is the “if you like it” part, lol.

Oops, this is supposed to be a reply to Angie.

Thinking about rejoining BoxyCharm, hows everyone’s experience with them the last year been?

Great! I love Boxycharm and I have all 3 boxes. The brands can be mostly found in Sephora and it is worth the price in my opinion. It is a lot of Too Faced, Tarte, Fenty, Iconic London, Sunday Riley, Glow Recipe and also introduces you to some newer, high quality brands, as well. I use mostly everything and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I just received a questionnaire today about future items I would like in my box: It was a lot of Fenty products-loose setting powder, a white setting powder compact, makeup refreshing spray, mascara, gloss bomb lipglosses and eyeshadow and the other brands were tarte-bloom palette, lights, camera, lashes mascara again (it was in some of this month’s boxes), lip paint, and NARS-lipstick, blush and climax mascara–I think this was for September or October’s box. All of the choices looked amazing and I’m sure everyone would love to use the products.

Thank you for the information. I went ahead and resubbed. I really like how they have the option to choose an item a month, I chose the exfolikate. Wish I had known this last week because I just bought the exfolikate the other day for 85 dollars at Sephora lol. Plus I bought an extra from the “pop” sale they had. Def a huge bargain.

I’ve had zero problems with them. I get the Choice items I select and while I don’t love every product in every box that’s basically what you sign up for when you subscribe to what’s essentially a monthly mystery beauty box.
