Switch is a jewelry rental service that lets you try out designer jewelry without the commitment. You pick your favorite pieces and try them out for as long as you want with a relatively small monthly fee. Switch also offers the option to purchase jewelry pieces at a discounted member price. For every month that you’re a member, you get a $10 credit that you can use towards the purchase of a piece of jewelry at the special member price.

This is a review of the $69 Black Membership that includes 3 pieces a month.

FYI - COVID-19 Update: You can read about how Switch is committed to the safety of its team, subscribers, and community here.

Switch offers free Priority shipping via USPS (1-3 day expected arrival). Each package comes with a prepaid USPS return label, so you can leave your return for your mail carrier or drop it off at the post office if you’re the nervous type. Shipping is free both ways, and they just ask that you package your items just as they were received to return them. It’s important to save the mailer and packaging for your return.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Switch Subscription Box June 2020 Review

Everything arrived in a super slick and very high-end looking black box. Inside, there were multiple info cards explaining all the deets about this subscription. All of these cards are really informative and helpful in explaining all the facets of this service. They cover care tips, return instructions, and even a guide if you fall head over heels in love with a piece, which... does... happen.

Let's see what I picked this month!

White/Space Continuity Ring – Retail Value $675.00, Member Price $670.00

I wear a size 8 ring, and though SWITCH has a few of that size, I feel like they are mostly always borrowed. Not this time! I snagged this ring to borrow as soon as I saw it. I think the delicate gold bands are lovely and super graceful. The oval shape is topped off with a single small diamond which gives it a kind of cosmic/astrological sort of vibe. The fit is so comfortable, especially for such a large ring.

This is so unique.

Rebecca Pinto Myrtle Disc Earrings in Sterling Silver – Retail Value $180.00, Member Price $170.00

I have been on a major Rebecca Pinto binge. I just love her designs and I love that SWITCH has so many to borrow. These hand-formed disc earrings are understated, but still feel mighty special. I am way into the texture and how minimal but still high-end they look in my ears.

I love how they dangle off my earlobe.

Chains and Pearls Gold Filled Multi Pearl Bracelet – Retail Value $450.00, Member Price $340.00

My last item is a really pretty golf-filled pearl bracelet. While I love the design, and I am pearl-crazy, there were a few things I didn't love about this one. The clasp itself was almost too small to even clasp onto the chain, and I think a round jump ring would have been a smart addition to this bracelet. I also think it could have been a little longer (it is 6.75 inches), as my wrist is a pretty average at 6.5 inches. Aside from these details, this is a very cool piece! I love how each of the dangling pearls are different shapes.

All of these pearls also had such a pretty luster, too.

The Verdict: My Switch pieces for June were all really beautiful in terms of design. I am very much taken by the more sculptural and structured jewelry styles lately. I think the earrings were my favorite, closely followed by the very cool gold and diamond ring. The bracelet would have scored higher for me if there were just some slight modifications, but the style itself is spot on!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Pieces can get snatched up quickly, and the number of pieces they have per style varies. You may or may not see these pieces in their available inventory list – but you might just see something you like even more! This isn’t a “styled” subscription, meaning you can pick exactly what you want from the available list – it’s not selected for you based on an algorithm or your preferences.

Value Breakdown: In this shipment, I tried out $1305.00 of jewelry for $69 – which is about 5% of their retail value and a great deal if it works for your budget and needs. It’s pricier than Rocksbox (which offers mid-range designer jewelry) but less than Rent the Runway (which offers designer jewelry, accessories, and clothes, too).

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Right? Anything by Rebecca Pinto is swoonworthy. I own a pair of her earrings I found on eBay and I cherish them! If i ever end up having some sort of disposable jewelry income (LOL) I am going to collect so many of her pieces.
