Love With Food Deluxe July 2020 Box Review

The box comes with a card. I would say these have to do with themes but the snacks don't seem selected based on themes at all:

On to the items:

Beanitos Hint of Lime (1 oz) - Buy 6, 5 oz bags for $21.21

These have been making the subscription box rounds for a few years. So long, in fact, that I remember the old formula and packaging, which was a bit better, because they used to have a better texture and more chips in the bag. But, they are still pretty good, and this is one of my favorite flavors, and one of the few tortilla-style chips (these are made with navy beans and a bit of rice flour) I actually look forward to eating plain.

Country Archer Beef Stick (0.5 oz) - Buy 9 for $15.75 (found here for $13.50)

As you may know, I am quite over the meat stick trend, since I have been a vegetarian since August of 1993. Also my husband will not eat these. So I am stuck holding on to it for awhile because our office is not opening anytime soon (that's where I'd normally hand things like this off because there are a fair number of keto people there). At any rate, it seems like there is about one meat stick per month so if someone in your house likes those, more power to you.

Bobo's Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Bar (2.2 oz) - Buy 12 bars for $26.99

I know I complain about the Bobo's Oat Bites being dry every time we get one, which is often, but I liked this a lot more. The texture was much better and it wasn't as dry. And, as you can see from the mass of melted chocolate on top of the bar, there were multiple chocolate chips in here. (The melting is Love With Food's fault for sending high chocolate content items in July.) This was a nice discovery and I would be happy to see some of the other flavors in future months.

Moon Cheese Cheddar Believe It (1 oz) - Buy 12 bags for $19.99

I don't remember if I've had the cheddar kind of this before or not, but I've definitely had pepper jack and gouda. The thing about this cheese stuff (all brands) is that I can eat about half a serving before it gets too salty for me to handle. I guess it is good that I share subscription box snacks with my husband, to get a second opinion (in this case, his is the same as mine). Also I can't tell a strong difference between the flavors, but like, I can definitely tell gouda from cheddar if eating regular cheese.

The Good Bean Sea Salt Chickpeas (0.75 oz) - Buy 10 bags for $10 (found here for $9)

These have a decent texture for crunchy chickpeas (in case you were wondering, there's such a thing as TOO CRUNCHY, and that's when they're so hard you're worried you'll chip a tooth, but these are not like that). Sea salt is kind of boring as a flavor, though. I would like to try these in a different flavor, maybe something with a little spice. (This is a multiple-time repeat item.)

Bare Toasted Coconut Chips (0.85 oz) - Buy 6, 3.3 oz bags for $25.14

I will admit, I can't really tell the difference between different brands of coconut chips, but also, I like all of them. These didn't have any particular flavor added so the coconut really stood out, but as it happens, I am a fan of coconut flavoring, so that is fine by me. I kind of wish the pieces were bigger but since all of the coconut chips are like this, I figure there must be a reason.

Janis and Melanie Brownie Cookie (1 oz) - Buy 12 for $12 (found here for $11)

Janis and Melanie snacks show up in Love With Food every now and then although this is the first time in awhile, and this is a new item for me. It is soft (yay) and the chocolate flavor is great. I thought it was just a little dry but that it would be great with ice cream. Also this prompted me to go to the Janis and Melanie site and order a bunch of tea cookies and cheese straws.

Love Corn Habanero Chili (0.7 oz) - Buy 15 for $18.60 (found here for $16)

The chili flavor was not overly spicy but it had a nice kick. These were also not as hard as I expected them to be (a good thing, as I don't want to go to the dentist with a chipped tooth right now). There was a little bit of a weird undertaste and smell to them that I can't explain, perhaps it has something to do with the variety of corn they chose because I feel like I have experienced it with other flavors of this product as well.

Prince of Peace Mandarin Orange Ginger Chews (4 oz) - Buy 3 oz for $1.99

I think we receive these in Love With Food a little too often. They are OK, and the flavors are usually different, but I already knew about this brand because they sell really inexpensive but good green tea, which I buy 100 bags at a time. At any rate, my husband is eating these because my permanent retainer has come unbonded from two of six teeth already (in MARCH...) and I don't want it to get worse as we live in a major COVID spike state and I don't want to go to the orthodontist's office to get it fixed right now.

The Perfect Granola Coconut Cranberry Granola Bar (1.4 oz) - Buy 10 for $13 (found here for $11.50)

In general, this was good. The flavor was nice and it was a new brand/item for me. There were little hard bits in it (maybe the sunflower seeds?) that didn't really work with the overall texture, but mostly I was a fan.

Hemp Yeah! Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt (1.59 oz) - Buy 12 bars for $27.48

I think this might be another new item (or else rebranding of an item I've received before, as these are from Manitoba Harvest, the same people who make Hemp Hearts brand hemp seeds). It also had a generally good flavor and little hard bits that I wasn't so fond of. Still, this is not a multi-time repeat item and I do appreciate that.

Kibo Chickpea Chips, Mediterranean Herbs (1 oz) - Buy a 12 bag variety pack for $19.99

Google informs me that I have visited this product's website 4 times, most recently on July 7. I have definitely had these multiple times before, but I think it was mostly in Fit Snack Box and not Love With Food? Anyway, I do like them. As they are made with chickpea flour (and a little rice flour and soy protein), they are a bit rustic in texture. The flavor is super strong, in a good way. It's not just a hint, you can taste the herbs.

Nairns Oat Grahams (1.41 oz) - Buy 5.64 oz for $5.09 (found here for $4.12)

This, however, is a multi-time repeat item. These are super plain (they have a hint of oaty sweetness) and a little dry. I would maybe dunk these in a hot beverage or put peanut butter or something on them. They do hold together pretty well.

Sunmaid Sour Raisin Snacks, Blue Raspberry (0.7 oz) - Buy 7 bags for $6.99

I guess these taste OK? I would probably just as soon eat regular raisins. The weird food dye choice was an issue here, it looks like someone bled all over some golden raisins and packaged them up. (Looking this item up, I guess it is vegetable juice so it is natural, but the color is still rather unappetizing.)

Ocean's Halo Seaweed Snacks, Maui Onion (0.14 oz) - Buy 12 packs for $9.99

I think I am the only person in the world who likes these, but I buy them by the case from Amazon. In fact, I had two full cases and one partial case at home when this box arrived. Also I wrote a bunch of reviews and redeemed the points for 60 packages from the Love With Food Rewards Pantry. This is my favorite brand of seaweed snacks and this is my favorite flavor. I eat one package a day with lunch and I think it helped increase my thyroid hormone levels from low/normal to the middle of the normal range. (I mean I have actual bloodwork from before and after I started regularly consuming these.) I probably don't get much iodine in my diet otherwise and I think these have helped. (I did not open them because they take on water quickly and become soggy and then they do not taste very good. But they look just like the picture on the package.)

Zest Tea Energy Tea, Blue Lady (1 bag) - Buy 15 bags for $10.95

This has 150 mg of caffeine, which is a lot, but I tried it (making sure to remove the bag fairly early on). It was pleasantly fruity but not too tart and it helped me have a productive morning working (from home of course) without giving me the jitters. I don't regularly want to consume 150 mg of caffeine because I'm on blood pressure medicine, but I think it is probably OK every now and then.

Ultima Replenisher (6 stick packs) - Buy 20 packs for $19.99

I am starting to accumulate a lot of this because another snack box I review sends it EVERY MONTH. I don't often need extra electrolytes although my basement exercise room is getting warmer and I sweat a little more now, so have been putting this in my water during my workouts. Right now, raspberry is my favorite flavor. This has potassium, which can help balance out sodium, and calcium as well as magnesium (taking too much magnesium may result in calcium depletion but taking both together can help overcome that problem).

Zee Zee's French Toast Grahams (1 oz) - Buy 12 for $12 (found here for $11)

This brand shows up often in Love With Food although I think this is a new item. They are really quite a bit like vanilla cookies with some maple flavor. Not bad, but the starchiness kind of sticks to your teeth. From this brand, I think I prefer the soft-baked bars the best. I do kind of like the little characters pressed into the cookies, though.

Verdict: There were 18 items in the July 2020 Love With Food Deluxe Box for an average value of about $1.11 per item. I feel like this is one of the better boxes we've received lately. Although there were some repeat items, some of them (ginger chews, raisins, corn) were in different flavors, and there were a lot of items I hadn't tried before, including the brownie cookie and all three bars. Also of course I was very happy to find the seaweed in the Rewards Pantry.
