July 2020 Dapper Dog Box Review

Each box comes with two info cards, one listing the featured item of the month—the Dapper Dog monthly bandana—and the other has some social media info as well as a little more info about the charitable nature of this box.

Murray is ready to dig in!

Pupcakes and Party Animals Bandana

Every month Dapper Dog includes a festive double-sided bandana. This style is simple to tie and fits perfectly around my dog's neck. This month's theme is "Pupcakes and Party Animals," featuring two cute party-themed designs.

Here is the bandana modeled on my BFF (he is my 9-year-old Corgi-Maltese); the medium size fits him to a T! This "pawty" theme is so cute and colorful!

Petlou 10″ Ice Cream Cone Toy – Retail Value $8.04

Dapper Dog sent this same toy out last July, too, but I am glad to revisit it because Murray loves it; his uncle Scoot tore his old one to shreds! Murray is really gentle with toys, so he was pretty ticked at Scoot's misconduct.

Reunited and so happy! This double scoop has one squeaker, and this soft plush is perfect for Murray to chew, but I would not recommend it for any heavy chewers out there.

Taj Ma Hound Cookie

I think this was supposed to be a happy birthday bone, but ours was broken and melted. I ended up just putting some in with Murray's breakfast this morning, and he actually picked it out of his food and ate it for dessert! Such willpower! This bone cookie is not listed for sale on their website, so I linked their other cookie treats above. All of Taj Ma Hound’s treats are made with restaurant-quality ingredients and a yogurt-based icing.

Puppy Cake Mix in Peanut Butter - Retail Value $6.99

I was excited to receive such a different type of treat this month, even though it put mom to work! It came with two pouches: one was the dry cake mix and the other was the icing.

The cake mix only required an egg, water, and oil; it was super easy to whip up 8 cupcakes for Murray, which actually smelled pretty tasty. Only using the recommended amount of water caused the icing to be very clumpy and sticky, so I doubled up which turned this icing into more of a glaze.

My Pup Cakes turned out great, and Murray enjoyed these big, soft treats.

Petlou Happy Birthday Toy

This Happy Birthday bone is pretty cheesy, so of course, Murray loved it. It is a great size to lop around in his mouth and to throw for fetch. He also likes the squeaker which is pretty easy for him to find and squeeze repeatedly.

Happy and noisy!

Verdict: Dapper Dog's July box was a different unboxing experience, but I thought the cupcakes were a fun addition to the box. I did, however, really miss getting a bag of training treats this month, which I think could have really offset this box's cost. I really liked this month's bandana and toys, but I don't think this month's box was worth the cost since this month's treats are already almost gone.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Those toys look great for a small dog but what are you offering for a 55 lb or larger dog

I hope Uncle Scoot doesn’t get a hold of the new toy! So cute! Murray is adorable. I’ve never seen doggy cake mix! (or pupcake!)
