Birchbox Review - July 2020

As always, this month's Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

Beauty Protector Protect & Volume, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.94 (Buy a full-size 8 oz for $23.50)

Ahhh, this scent is so nostalgic! I used to subscribe to Birchbox when they first started up and way before I ever wrote an MSA post. This was one of the first brands I ever got inside a box, but it was their leave-in conditioner spray. This has that same yummy fragrance! This is a styling spray you can use on damp hair before styling. Since I don't ever really do anything to my hair, it probably didn't truly have its moment to shine, as my idea of "doing my hair" is air-drying. It did add that lovely perfume to my tresses and some shine, and gave me a little less frizz.

Dr. Pawpaw Ultimate Red Balm, 10 mL - Estimated Value $3.20 (Buy a full-size 25 mL for $8.00)

I love Dr. Pawpaw balm! And this tinted version is the bee's knees! It gives my lips the most lovely flush of red, and not in a shy way either! This is a tint that shows up and looks like you've been enjoying a cherry popsicle. No scent here, just instant lip hydration and smoothness.

I love this SO much!

Floss Beauty My Everyday Eyeshadow in 'Tokyo', 1.5 g - Full Size! Retail Value $16.00

This pretty shadow would look just as good as a highlighter as it would a shadow. It is a frosty and shimmery peach with great coverage. The texture is also super smooth, and I personally found fingertip application had a better result than a brush, if only because of fallout. Happy to see this is a full-size item this month!

Here it is swatched! FYI: Naomi also got this same shadow in her Birchbox this month. Click here to see her thoughts and her swatch!

Luxie Beauty 245 Small Shader Rose Gold Brush - Retail Value $15.00

I like to use flat brushes like this to pat concentrated color onto my lids. They really work well with a wet shadow application if you want peak pigmentation! This brush has synthetic fibers and is cruelty-free. The peachy colored wooden handle is very cute.

TIRTIR Rosemary One Essence, 20 mL - Retail Value $4.40 (Buy a full-size 150 mL for $33.00)

I am an essence lover and I don't think I have ever had a rosemary formula to try before! This one feels very nature-centric as it is 100% Jeju rosemary extract. It only takes a few drops to gently pat into your skin. It does indeed smell just like fresh rosemary needles. Essences are a nice extra step between cleansing and serums that help your skin absorb extra products after you use it.

TIRTIR Bubble Toner Sample Pouches - Buy a full size of your choice for $26.00

Our last little item is a 4 packet foil samples for different types of bubble toners! These are so cute. I first tried the cica, well, because, CICA! There is just enough inside for one application. It was a bit messy, but I poured the liquid into my palm and then carefully patted it onto my face. It does have a slight bubble sensation and made my pores feel extra oxygenated. The cica formula was calming so it would likely be my top choice as someone who suffers from redness. But honestly, all of these were pretty great!

Verdict: This Birchbox has an estimated value of around $41.54 without the toner sample packs. It's not bad for a $15 box. It was nice to see a full-size shadow inside and of course, I am stoked about that larger sample of that Dr. Pawpaw balm. I also really enjoyed trying all of the sample toners. Multi-sample foils like that are a lot of fun! The rosemary extract toner was another highlight and though I probably won't use the Beauty Protector spray often, it smells and works great!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Maybe. This box has variants, so yours might look different than mine.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Joy-Not the Other One

This was a great box! I was a little disappointed in my Birchbox this month. I usually love it though so one so-so box is no big deal. After reading this I immediately went to amazon and ordered that Dr. Paw Paw balm. That looks like EXACTLY what I have been looking for. My lips are crazy chapped right now so lipstick looks kind of gross on them but I really want some color. This looks awesome. I also use the Dr. Lipp Balm colors but this looks like it has more Actual color. The Dr. Lipp is pretty sheer. Thanks!!

This has more pigment than the Dr. Lipp for sure!! It also lacked that lanolin flavor, which was actually really nice!
