We know you love our monthly favorites posts so we're doing a monthly post highlighting our favorite BEAUTY discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite skincare, green beauty, and makeup items from the past month:

Marne's Favorite:

The Item: LeahLani Skincare Aloha Ambrosia Morning Moisture Elixir

The Cost: $56.00

From: Laurel & Reed

Why I love it: This facial elixir leaves my skin simply glowing and it smells so florally fresh for Spring!

Ragan's Favorite:

The Item: l’Khana by Source Adage

The Cost: Buy a full-size 50 mL bottle for $160

From: LUXSB

Why I love it: I always like discovering new perfumers and I also really like unisex scents. This includes grapefruit, which is my favorite citrus note, as well as musk and pink peppercorn. Pretty much the same day I tried this I went and ordered a sampler set from Source Adage because I was interested in some of their other fragrances after exploring their website.

Naomi's Favorites:

Curology The Moisturizer Front for Cocotique May 2020

The Item: Curology The Moisturizer, 25 ml

The Cost: Estimated Value $29.95

From: Cocotique

Why I love it: This moisturizer is a definite win! I love the gel texture and how lightweight it is. There is no fragrance or oily base. I keep it in my skincare fridge and apply after cleaning. It feels amazing on a hot sticky day and doesn’t clog my pores or give me breakouts. The packaging is very sleek and modern; the focus is on how great the product itself is and not hyping it up with distracting packaging.

Kneipp Body Oil Beautiful Shape Front for Cocotique May 2020

The Item: Kneipp Body Oil Beautiful Shape, 100 mL

The Cost: Retail Value $22.00

From: Cocotique

Why I love it: I am obsessed with body oils! I have used every single drop of the Kneipp Body Oil already. I used it right after getting out of the shower and it smelled absolutely fantastic, with a light natural scent and a hint of fruitiness. It did not leave a greasy layer on top of my skin and absorbed quickly, leaving behind soft moisturized skin.

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: Neon Rose Rosemilk Lotion

The Cost: N/A

From: Wicked Good Perfume

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 15% off your first month
CODE: MSA15

Why I love it: Is anyone surprised that I picked something from this sub as my favorite beauty item? I just love their products and while the two perfumes I received are both amazing, this lotion is the one I find myself reaching for! It has a milky consistency that absorbs well and it leaves my hands feeling so soft. The scent is tangerine, pink rose, geranium, mimosa, palo santo, and vanilla. I noted the fresh roses with some tangy citrus notes and geranium on the finish. It is such a nice spring scent and there is even a woodsy hint thanks to the palo santo.

Abby's Favorite:

The Item: Soon Beauty Biocellulose Brightening Face Mask

The Cost: $22

From: MoonBox by Gaia Collective

Why I love it: This mask was an indulgent treat for the skin! It was very refreshing without having a lot of added fragrance, and it treated my skin to a little extra TLC with arbutin for brightening, niacinamide for clarity/enlarged pores, and hyaluronic acid for hydration. My skin had a glow for a few days after the treatment!

Christen's Favorite:

The Item: DermaE Microdermabrasion Scrub, 2 oz

The Cost: $32.50

From: Moms + Babes

Why I love it: I liked that this product was non-GMO, cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free off the bat (plus it came in a nice glass jar!), but I was blown away after the first use. Its ground crystal exfoliant buffed my face so satisfyingly and I felt really refreshed after. So happy to have this to use when I need a little brightening!

What do you think of our beauty favorites for May? What other favorite discoveries would you like us to round up each month?

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

That DermaE scrub is awesome. When I finally work my way through my stash of facial scrubs that will be the one I repurchase.

So glad you agree. My husband broke his ankle a few weeks ago and he’s noticed the skin on that foot is peeling when he takes his boot off. I said, “I have just the thing!” 😅 It’s really a great product!

They’re BOGO 50% off right now! 🙂

It also goes on sale at Ulta for buy 1, get one half off regularly. I know because I’ve been using it every day for years.

Connie

The Leah Lani from the Laurel & Reed box was fabulous. I will definitely be ordering to always have on hand. Laurel & Reed has become one of my favorite beauty boxes.

It’s soooo well-curated!

Marion

No makeup again! 😂

I wonder if it’s because you guys are using less makeup during social distancing.

I don’t get any makeup most months. But yeah, also haven’t worn any since my last day in the office which was March 13.

Marion

😂 Yes, but you’re still the outlier amongst all the skincare!

I remember you used to review a box called Orglamix. What happened to that one? Did they stop sending boxes?

Christen Russo

I think that’s it, Marion! I received a few lip glosses this month that I really like but haven’t used again since trying them the first time. In recent months I’ve put out a special call for makeup favorites to the review team, but the skincare faves just keep winning out!

Marion—you might see one of those lip glosses to which I referred pop up for me in June’s faves, keep an eye out in a couple of weeks!

Kate—I’ll keep asking our reviewers to let me know what their makeup faves are and we can keep our fingers crossed for June!

Marion

Aw, well, I hope you guys get the chance to use more makeup soon & fall in love with some more products!

Kate

maybe they could do one of each
