Cocotique “We’re All in This Together” May 2020 Review

Card Front for Cocotique May 2020

This month’s Cocotique box is the “We’re All In This Together” edition, featuring the Dove Amplified Textures collection. I love how socially relevant this month’s theme is.

Card Back for Cocotique May 2020

The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Bonus Item: Canvas Tote

The box also comes with a reusable tote bag each month. I love this element! I think it is commendable when brands promote less-waste options. The cute little saying, “We’re All In This Together” is incredibly relevant and inspiring.

Dove has launched an all-new Dove Amplified Textures collection, and with the Cocotique subscription box, you get to among the first to try it.

Dove Amplified Textures Moisture Recovery Mask, 10.5 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $6.99

In last month’s Cocotique box, I received some products from the new Dove Amplified Textures collection, and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality. This month I received some more products from the Dove line, including this Moisture Spa Recovery Mask for coils and curls. I love hair masks and am incredibly excited to receive this product! It smells absolutely wonderful and is infused with honey, coconut oil, and shea butter. The mask is formulated with no parabens or dyes, and was designed to intensely nourish and strengthen hair while reducing breakage. It made my hair feel silky, hydrated, and shiny. This is a wonderful example of a subscription box product that I would purchase again.

Amplified Textures Hydrating Cleansing Shampoo, 11.5 fl oz – Full Size! Retail Value $6.99

This Hydrating Cleansing Shampoo for coils, curls, and waves cleanses hair without stripping it. The product is lightweight and works up into an awesome lather that has a natural light scent and rinses out fully without leaving behind a filmy layer. This product is formulated with moisture amplifying aloe to help remove product buildup and restore shine for clean, healthy feeling hair. I personally love any product that contains aloe, and this one is no exception. Aloe is my absolute favorite natural ingredient.

Amplified Textures Super Slip Detangling Conditioner, 11.5 fl oz – Full Size! Retail Value $6.99

To go along with the shampoo, I also received the Super Slip Detangling Conditioner for coils, curls, and waves. With a sweet coconut scent, I found this conditioner to definitely be not only moisturizing but also helpful in detangling tight curls. The product is formulated with coconut milk and provides slip for a quick comb-through on wash days. Using this product after the shampoo, I noticed hardly any shrinkage in my curls and an added bounce and shine.

Curology The Moisturizer, 25 mL – Estimated Value $29.95 (Buy a full-size 50 mL for $59.90 with a bi-monthly subscription)

I’ve always wanted to try The Moisturizer from Curology but never wanted to commit to using their whole system. This moisturizer is a definite win for me. It is lightweight, gel, and water-based with no fragrance or added scents; perfect for my sensitive skin. It goes on smoothly without leaving behind a sticky residue and makes your skin feel soft and hydrated without the heavy feeling of oil or oil-based creams. The packaging is very sleek and modern. I enjoy the simplicity of the dark blue bottle with the basic white text. It’s like the focus is on how great the product itself is and not hyping it up with distracting packaging.

Kneipp Body Oil Beautiful Shape, 3.38 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $22.00 (currently on sale)

I am obsessed with body oils, and the Kneipp Body Oil Beautiful Shape sandalwood fruit and grape seed oil is an absolute dream. I used this right after getting out of the shower and it smelled absolutely fantastic, with a light natural scent with a hint of fruitiness. It did not leave a greasy layer on top of my skin and absorbs quickly, leaving behind soft moisturized skin. This product is lightly scented enough that it did not irritate my eczema patch. Formulated with high-quality grape seed oil, rich vitamin C, and essential fatty acids, this product can firm, smooth, and strengthen skin while hydrating.

Brazilian Bare Shave Syrup, 1 fl oz – Estimated Value $3.50 (Buy a full-size 4 fl oz for $14.00)

This Brazilian Bare Shave Syrup is unique: part shaving cream, part shaving gel. The texture is so fun, almost reminds me of actual syrup. The product has no synthetic fragrances, which makes it ideal for shaving any part of the body, wink-wink. It’s formulated to eliminate ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and shaving irritation, while giving you the closest shave possible. Now that the summer months are here, it’s time for me to clean up my hairy house troll body in hopes that the quarantine will lift and I’ll be out having fun in the sun.

Trilipiderm Skincare Sample Box, 0.14 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.51 (Buy full-size products for between $14.95-$50.00)

I am not a huge fan of sample packets like this; you can like moisturize one-eighth of your body. To be honest, I’m probably never going to use these packets. I find getting product out of them to be aggravating to say the least. But the Trilipiderm skincare line utilizes natural plant-derived ingredients that not only hydrate but also prevent dry skin. The products are definitely luxurious, rich, and creamy, containing SPF and vitamin D. If you’re looking for a natural, ultra-sensitive moisturizing line for summer sun skin protection, definitely check out this brand.

The Verdict: This month’s May 2020 Cocotique box is not only a great value but contained great seasonal products. My absolute favorite is the Curology gel-based moisturizer, which is perfect for summer. I like to avoid creamy, oil-based moisturizers when it’s hot out. The Kneipp Body Oil not only smells amazing but is quickly absorbed into the skin, perfect for replenishing and softening skin after a day outdoors. The Recovery Hair Mask is another one of my favorite products this month. Spending time outdoors can definitely take a toll on your hair and having a solid hydrating mask will keep your curls healthy and shiny in all seasons. The shampoo and conditioner are a great combo, and I’m happy to have received the matching set in this box. The Brazilian Bare Shave Syrup is another product perfect for the summer months, when a close shave is not only ideal but necessary. The Trilipiderm skincare samples are not ideal for me but I do admire the brand and their natural ingredient lists. Many of their products contain SPF and vitamin D, which is great for the upcoming months. The bonus bag included also had “We’re All in this Together” printed on the front, which I find inspiring and unifying in this time. The estimated total value of this box is $78.92. I think that is an amazing value and I love how this box sends skincare, body care, and haircare. I think the variety is great, and especially with everything going on now, it may be ideal to have everything you need for your skin, body, and hair care come right to your front door. I’m certainly a fan of this box!

I’m a sheet mask loving, skincare obsessed, animal loving foodie. If I’m not waiting for the mailman to bring me some new subscription box, I’m probably working out, writing, or getting cursed out by my parrot. P.S. He was a rescue; I didn’t teach him that.

  1. The box is worth the curology moisturizer alone!

  2. I got a different variation of this box. I got a watermellon bubble bath instead of the moisturizer.

  4. This is a better box for me than Ipsy. I have been looking for a box that caters more towards me. I have been disappointed in them lately. I am going to subscribe to get in on the May goodies.

  6. Great review 🙂 I’ve been really liking their recent curations; they’re reminding me of how they were back when I subbed for a few years ending a couple of years ago. It’s definitely making me consider re-subbing again. Even though I feel it’s still worth it at full price, I think I’ll hold out for a sub discount 😉

  7. Love the review, thank you!
