JustFab is a monthly clothing, shoes and accessories subscription that allows you to shop in two ways - you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Style quiz to note your size and style preferences.
  • Each month, JustFab releases a new collection and they will curate looks that match your preferences which you can view in your personalized Boutique.
  • Shop those looks at 40% off what you’d get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $39.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you’ll also earn points that can be applied towards future purchases.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

JustFab June 2020 Review

I get a lot of questions about how this subscription works and since it is a bit confusing I figured I'd walk you through the process:

Signing Up

The first step to signing up is to take a short quiz to answer some questions about your style, or you can just skip that and go straight into registering for an account with your name, email address, and your shoe size. Then they will take you to your "boutique" which are some items they recommend for you. While the $10 offer seems like it can only be applied to shoes, it will also take 40% off any clothing or accessories, which will be the price shown in red. Of course, once you go to check out, they may offer you some additional deals, so I recommend finding a few items and seeing how much you can save! Just a warning- they do sell out of items, especially in certain sizes, so if you are in love with something, don't hesitate!

First Purchase

Just for fun, I added these slide sandals to my cart. Now you can see they ring up as only $10 so long as you select that you are joining their VIP membership. I've also included the terms of their membership program. FYI - I have successfully canceled an account in the past without having to call in.

Here you can see the difference between the VIP savings (left) versus just shopping without a membership.

Monthly Membership

Each month you can avoid paying the $39.95 membership fee by simply going into "My Account" and then selecting "Skip the Month" and once it says "You've Skipped" you can just forget about this until next month with no obligation to shop or buy. You could also shop that month to avoid the credit, but I much prefer skipping and then shopping at my leisure, or even better, waiting for a sale to shop! Also, you get points for shopping and for reviewing items you've purchased which can be redeemed for a % off or even just $ off which can add up fairly quickly. Although, sometimes the way the credit applies to sale items can get a bit tricky, so you may have to play around with it a bit to make sure you're getting the best deal.

Summary

  • It's $10 for your first pair of shoes or 40% off clothing or accessories for your first purchase.
  • Set a reminder to skip each month so you don't end up with a credit you don't want.
  • Shop the sales!

Now let's get into my items for this month!

Inside my package was a coupon for Function of Beauty.

Poplin Maxi Dress in White - Retail Value $59.95, VIP Price $49.95

This month I only purchased one item and I had a lot of reward points racked up (you earn every time you make a purchase or write a review!) and so I cashed some in to get this dress for 40% off the VIP price. If you have read any of my clothing reviews, you probably know that I don't do white since I have three messy kids aged 5 and under, and I myself am a bit accident-prone, but this dress was calling to me! It just looked so pretty and we are planning to get some professional family photos done at the beach this year and white is pretty much the only color that would coordinate with everyone else, so I took a risk! The material is stiffer than I expected and it's also a bit weightier than I expected but I think that's a good thing; it doesn't make it feel as delicate as a lighter fabric would. It is made from 97% cotton and 3% spandex so it only has the slightest amount of stretch to it.

I really felt like I was posing for prom here, but this dress is long and flowy just like I had hoped. Please excuse the horrible back tan (we went hiking last weekend and I got a little burnt) but I love how low it goes in the back, although I could not get my bra to go low enough to hide it so this will be something I have to address. Also, it gaps a bit at the sides - I guess my chest isn't big enough to fill it out, which isn't usually a problem for me. If I can figure out a way to either bring up the straps a little bit or take it in on the sides it will be a perfect fit. It's very comfortable to wear and thanks to the way the skirt is layered it allows for a lot of air-flow which is always nice! The cottony texture also makes it feels a bit more casual even though the dress itself has a romantic feel. What do you think?

The Verdict: This dress retails for $72.95 ($49.95 with VIP prices), but I cashed in my reward points to get 40% off bringing the total down to $30 and after shipping and taxes my total was $37.91. I really don't like paying for shipping, but I couldn't find anything else from JustFab that I really liked this month that was in my size (it felt more limited when I shopped for some reason!), so I opted to just pay for shipping since the savings were pretty good with my discount!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this dress is still available as of publication!

ACTIVE DEAL: Get your first pair of shoes for $10! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Value Breakdown: The total retail value for this dress $72.95, and the VIP price is $49.95, but after taxes (and free shipping) my total was $37.91. That's a discount of about 48% off retail and about 24% off VIP.

Hi Brandi,
Thank you for the interesting review and for explaining how it all works. I think the dress looks lovely on you. You’re right – it would look even better in the top section by adjusting the sides a little. It looks really blue in the outside pictures. If you’re wanting to make sure you’ve got a cohesive look across the whole family it might be worth doing a practice shoot with everyone wearing what they will be wearing on the day, just so that you don’t end up with clashing whites. And I had a similar issue with my back 2 weeks before my wedding. To fix it, I just had Mr Mimosa put spf on my tanned zones and then sun baked for a couple of hours. Fixed it right up!

Thanks so much for reading and for the great advice, Mimosa! 🙂 I’m hoping I’ll get to spend some time outdoors and even out my tan before then and that’s a great tip!

Cute! It will look great in beach pictures, too. The heavier fabric will be perfect because it will still be blowy but holding its shape and not blowing around uncontrollably and messing up the pictures. A tip for the tan lines – if you want to get any photos taken of all your backs and that tan line is still persistent (I’m pale, too, and know how a bad tan line can linger all summer!), there’s an easy way to temporarily blend it. Once you are dressed, cover the top of the dress with a towel and tuck it in. Use a matte powdered bronzer (since this is your back, you’ll probably need to have your husband help!) and apply it to the pale area specifically. Gradually build up and blend out and you won’t even see it in photos! I’ve used this trick for weddings, both brides and bridesmaids, and proms in high school. It totally works. Since you’re so fair, start with one of your lightest bronzers (meaning this isn’t the time to dig out that sample of bronzer you got that’s way too dark just to use it up!) and build it a bit at a time.

Thanks so much for the great tips, Chelsea! 🙂 I’ll definitely keep that in mind – hopefully the hubby will be able to do it correctly! Lol
