I wish there were photos that showed the scale of the items, like the vase and the earrings. It would make it easier to choose. Or maybe they exist somewhere and I’ve missed them?
Also, I’m assuming the suede is real suede, but if it’s not that would be helpful to know. (I to try avoid buying leather.)
I’ve appreciated the communication about changes to the box during this crazy time.

I think this box is lovely and well curated. It seems to carry thru on the inspiration without being overly literal. The company obviously cares about the quality of its items as well as the opinions of its clientele while trying to offer a collection with the widest appeal.

I went with a different quarterly box this season because I was very interested in its hero item, not because this box isn’t appealing. Sorry so many had such a negative reaction here…

I loved the qingdao box and am looking forward to this box. I was a little disappointed with the the wipes but as Kevia mentioned, it is meant to be an extra item. I really like the vase and the earrings are interesting. Overall I appreciate Kevia’s style and aesthetics.

I am always excited when Journee ships. It’s my only sub and I love it. I will stop there for fear of being accused as a “fraud” because if you get this box regularly, you understand my love for it and the people behind it.

I am excited, too. I came on here today trying to find out when customization would be. Sounds like soon since customer service said “later this month.” I love all of the items spoiled so far and can’t wait to see the surprise items. This is my favorite box too. Everything is always beautifully designed and wrapped, a real treat to unbox. I have received two boxes and thought everything was very good quality.

Hi Aimee – I’m with you. I’m really looking forward to this box. This one personally may not be my aesthetic so far, but I’ve been over the moon with the quality of all of them and I look forward to expanding my horizons. I know I’ll be happy about it in the end because I know the quality of what Kevia curates and sends. I’m looking forward to the water bottle and the vase. It’ll look good in my office.
I tell everyone about this box to the point where I’m starting to wonder if I work for them! I’m sorry you got jumped on for gushing about JourneeBox because I get it. I’m just as excited as you are and this isn’t my only sub. It’s just my favorite. Don’t let the negative nancys get you down – you keep on being a happy, shiny light!

Thank you, Misty,
It takes more than a few comments
to bring me down and I will spread
my love for Journee however I please.
Every item in a box may not be loved by
everyone but the items are always
of such high quality they make wonderful
gifts or “go missing” (my house). 🙂

Shine on and have a blessed day!

This will be my second box, and I’m hoping it is as great as my last. I love that the items are unique (since I have a lot of sub boxes, I sometimes get duplicates from my other boxes). The water bottle is not for me, but wipes will come in handy nowadays (and in general). The vase looks really nice and versatile and is my favorite item so far. The jewelry is not my favorite, but sub box jewelry is never the best in my opinion, since jewelry is just so personal. I’ll probably give my mom the earrings. One thing I really like about this box is how they try to do a theme to tie the items together. A lot of subs just seem to throw random items in (maybe whichever supplier gives them the best deal?) Bottom line, even though I don’t live everything, I’m going to stick with this box since it is unique and thoughtfully curated.

So I agree that this box doesn’t seem nearly as exciting as earlier boxes, but I totally disagree with the idea that it’s a dud!

The earrings aren’t really my style, but the “Rust Cliff Face” earrings would be something totally unique in my jewelry collection that would match a lot of my color schemes but bring a new dimension to my style (the “River Rapids” earrings would look absolutely terrible on me, but I do have a few friends who could pull them off – granted, they’re definitely a “look” – that I could gift them to).

It was my understanding that the wipes were an afterthought addition to this box in light of the current times. I could be wrong on that, so don’t jump on me if I am! But if I’m right, I view it as being really thoughtful and supportive. They’re reaching out to their base to do what they can in their way during all this and I’m not going to complain about a goodwill gesture.

Okay, the water bottles… totally played out. I agree: what am I going to do with yet another water bottle? And these aren’t my style. And the glass will make them heavier and less practical. And the colors are dumb. But I’ve been attempting new hobbies while sheltering in place and realized this week that I have permanent paints that would stay on both the glass and the silicon. So I’m going to make the most of this “dud” and redesign it so it will be bold and beautiful and unique.

Finally, I don’t understand what any of you are saying about that vase at all! That vase is gorgeous! Again, something totally different than what I have, but I could easily blend it into my home. I think it will be super versatile for a lot of aesthetics.

Is this my favorite box? No. Is it a dud? Absolutely not! I think the previous boxes have just been so awesome that expectations are high. I’m curious about what’s still to come in the box and can’t wait to find out what countries/areas this box will cover going forward (crossing my fingers for Botswana, Latvia, Argentina… if anyone from Kevia is reading this 🙂 !

I signed up because I liked previous boxes and had great customer service while I was debating an annual subscription. I decided I like the surprise and that if I wanted something I would choose for myself, I’d just go shopping. This gives me the opportunity to try new things I wouldn’t have picked out myself. At least that’s my take. Stay safe, everyone!!!

The shape of the vase is very reminiscent of Hopi pottery – I think it’s a strength rather than a weakness that it would fit in a variety of homes, and I appreciate that Kevia is careful around issues of cultural appropriation. The quality of everything in this box is incredibly high and I’m betting these items will look even better in person!

I agree with a previous poster that this vase has a simple warmth to it, and I view it as a positive. I do not have any other Native American art or pottery in my home, so this simpler piece, paired with some lovely greens, will go better. I enjoy a minimalist esthetic and this piece appeals to my perspective, and allows me to highlight the plant life I choose to display within it. This is also a gender neutral piece of pottery, which is great for a subscription box. However, I also see how this would not appeal to everyone.

Well…this always happens. I research a sub box at length, love the past boxes, and just when I’m ready to pull the trigger, waaaaaaaw waaaaaaaw.
This one is a dud.

I have cancelled my subscription after the China box due to lack of money. I don’t regret doing so, unfortunately…

Hi, when customization will be open?

Thank you! By the way, my order of delicate and classy (I think that was the description) mystery jewelry showed up and it is just as described. Thank you and the Kevia Team for a beautiful collection. Now, I’m tempted to try other classifications. 🙂

Does this vase really say “southwest”? It could be put in one of the Scandinavian sub boxes and passed off as “the minimalist, modern, clean-lines Denmark aesthetic” and no one the wiser.

Not a fan – my brother worked for park services in the Canyon for years, so I visited regularly. These items are garbage and not worth the money. This is a total gimmick. – The earings are pathetic and do not represent any Southwestern or Native American jewelry I’ve ever seen in that area. Also the pot is generic looking. You can buy better items at any gas station in Arizona. The water bottle and wipes are also chintzy. Dodge this bullet

Kevia

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to clarify a few things about the Grand Canyon box. First, the box is not supposed to represent Native culture or even the Southwest arts directly. It is based on the natural elements found in the Grand Canyon:
Clay
Sandstone erosion of the mountains and caves
Geode stones (not spoiled yet)
River water patterns
Or essential items for making the trip (glass water bottle)
Our sourcing with a Navajo nation business for the box was disrupted by COVID-19, but even these items were based on native plants and agriculture. Without the input and partnership from Native people I was not comfortable moving forward with culturally specific designs. In the packaging we do however use some patterns that are inspired by both regional art and geographic terrain.
Second, the box has a focus on sustainable materials, turquoise has been over mined and as a non Native designer I don’t source turquoise within the US. Also, the wipes are a free 7th item add-on for this box. I designed them when quality alcohol based wipes were hard to find, which is actually still the case. At the time, I wanted to do something other than send a generic coronavirus statement email. In terms of size, alcohol in larger quantities are considered dangerous goods which limits the size of dangerous goods that we can include with the other JourneeBox items (DG can’t ship via express service). Obviously taste are going to differ, I don’t expect that everyone will like the designs. However, hopefully a bit more information about my intention, the items can be seen from a different perspective. Finally, for current subscribers, the quality and cost of goods for this box are the same as previous boxes. The packaging design will continue to elevate the unboxing experience and there is box upgrade surprise. That’s my two cents, I hope everyone is safe and well.

Journee Well,
Kevia

Kevia, thank you for being a truly admirable business owner. Seriously, I am impressed by every post you make and message your company sends out. I hope that the commentary on this box isn’t getting you down!

Svetlana7e

Thank you so much for the explanation. I think it is well rounded box and I am happy that it includes useful and unique items. I will definitely use water bottle, it looks very slick and elegant. I will use earrings for sure, they are unique and one of the kind. The vase will fit in any decor and it is basic but classy. Happy with the box!

Priscilla

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. I truly appreciate your perspective and efforts to remain respectful of other cultures and sustainable in your product sourcing. It means a lot to me, and makes your box and business well-worth supporting. I can’t wait to receive this and future boxes.

Carol

This box is one of the best curated, fascinating unboxing experiences out there, hands down. Kevia, herself, is a class act and no I have not met her and don’t work or have any affiliation w/o the enterprise. Particularly in this challenging time in two major streams in this country, she is a truth teller and honest. Supply chains are disrupted and no one should expect every item to hit their A+ rating. We are too diverse and tastes are widely divergent. Please be kind. Enough acrimonious issues circulating. This is a first world issue and we are fortunate to even consider these boxes.

h

Glad to hear that there will be a surprise in store. I am beginning to regret not starting with the previous box, to be honest.

Laura

I too,am looking forward to this box. The level of quality of this box has always been amazing. I have ordered a lot of stuff from Kevia and everything has always been extremely high quality. And, I’m excited to get some wipes! 😊

Kristin

Kevia I am actually pleased with the box! I look forward to receiving it.

Sandy

I agree – with every spoiler I’ve been scratching my head more and more. I’m so surprised at how – not to mince words – lousy this is, when past boxes have been really nice, some of them extremely nice. This is really unimpressive. Those earrings are just ugh. And a box of 15 wipes? Is that supposed to be a joke or what?

Reply ButtonReply

Alicia

Agree! Thus far, this is the weirdest and most underwhelming box.

Cassie

I’m really bummed since I love the Grand Canyon, and this could have been so amazing. Instead each thing has been a miss- just when they got me to sign up for annual in the spring (that was amazing)

That excitement from getting to open such a themed box has me almost wanting to not skip. But I actually need nothing and the fact wipes are being treated as a prized box item is rubbing me the wrong way

h

So they send an email to choose between the earring choices, and possibly the bottle colors? Does anyone know when, and when it ships? This is my first box. 🙂
