Our IPSY Glam Bag Plus June 2020 Review

Here is our info card complete with all of our items.

Our bag this month is a poolside pattern with sunbathers lounging. Hope they remembered sunscreen!

Now, on to the items!

Thrive Causemetics Lip Mate High-Shine Reviving Topper in 'Effie', 6.8 ml - Retail Value $24.00

I am always happy when I get a product I love from a brand I love! I am a gloss addict. Before mask wearing became a thing, it was my go-to for an effortless no-makeup look. My face might be bare, but at least I have lip gloss to make it looks like I tried, just a little! I still find myself wearing glosses often and this one is a stunner. It is filled with (hard to photograph) iridescent shimmer in blue, orange, pink, and purple. While it is pretty clear on the lips, those sparkles give loads of dimension on bare lips or when layered over a color. I also love the hollow style doe-foot applicator that snatches up the perfect amount of gloss.

The electric shimmer is notoriously hard to capture, but this one must be seen in person to appreciate.

FLESH Flesh to Flesh Highlighting Powder in 'Jump', 8.8 g - Full Size! Retail Value $28.00

I can't decide if the branding for this brand is really cool or a little creepy, but everything I have tried from them I really like! This is an incredibly soft and smooth highlighter with just a little bit of a golden champagne sort of glow. It leans more towards the natural side of things, and literally gives a soft shine and shimmer rather than anything super dramatic. The packaging feels quite nice too, and I appreciate the large mirror inside!

This is a pretty heavy swatch, but with a large powder-style brush, the look is much more diffused.

Ciaté London Marbled Metals Eyeshadow in 'Wicked', 4 g – Full Size! Retail Value $24.00

This little pot of purple shimmer was really interesting! It looks like chunky glitter inside, but when you use your finger to apply it the chunks smooth out to a much smaller silver glitter on a metallic purple base. It is very smooth and super pigmented! While I am not sure I would have chosen this shade, I have to say it is gorgeous and I am going to tuck it away for a dramatic night look. Maybe a date night look? I really miss restaurants.

She's moody!

NACIFIC Fresh Herb Eye Cream, 1.01 fl oz – Full Size! Retail Value $30.00

I have loved every NACIFIC item I have tried and this cream is no exception! It is an eye cream but I thoroughly enjoy applying it to my whole face. The texture is a creamy gel that absorbs easily and leaves a softness and no film behind. Inside is niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and adenosine, and together they plump skin, lock in moisture, and help with fine lines. This citrus-scented gel is also perfect for tossing in the fridge for an extra cool application.

JayJun Cosmetics Wakepure Sheet Mask, 6 masks – Estimated Value $15.00 (Buy 10 for $25.00)

Finally, our last item is a set of six sheet masks from Korean brand JayJun. There are three formulas here: a nourishing avocado, calming shiso, and brightening seaberry. These masks were all totally loaded with serum and they fit well. I did notice they leave a little texture behind, but some light moisturizer helps with this and the softness my face felt was totally worth it. My fave was the avocado!

Verdict: This month, my IPSY Glam Bag Plus has a value of $121.00 which is fab for a $25 box. I also loved everything inside this month too, and thought the brands were really nice. I am a sucker for Koren skincare, so the sheet masks and dreamy eye cream were both faves. The remaining items were all makeup, and as someone who likes both glosses and highlighters, I am very happy with my selections from FLESH and Thrive. The Ciaté eye pot was also a pleasant surprise that I liked much more than expected.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely start with July as your first month. As of publication, there was no IPSY waitlist!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $25 meaning you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Thrive Causemetics Gloss $4.96
  • Flesh Highlighter $5.79
  • Ciaté London Shadow $4.96
  • NACIFIC Cream $6.20
  • JayJun Sheet Mask Set $3.10

Alternatively, each item has an average cost of $5.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

No one likes it critic however in your review of this bag the card included mentions in nothing about any of our products which was a huge disappointment to me absolutely huge

I got my bag pretty quick this month.
Purlisse watermelon aqua balm (my choice)
Araceli eyeliner in black (great quality but it’s just hard to get excited about another black eyeliner.)
Dr. Brandt face primer (I bought this in a Boxy pop up recently so I’ll give this away)
FARAH eye brush set (this is my 4th eye brush set from sub boxes in just 4 months)
Ciate London eye shadow in Entwine (very pretty shade)

My add on was the Hanalei sheet mask duo. I purchased both sets. I really enjoy this brand.

Ipsy has their pop-up sale going on and there are some pretty good deal

Charlotte

Yeah, I grabbed the makeup set with the Seraphine Botanicals Sakura + Sage cheek/eye palette. I don’t *need* another pinky-nude palette, but I love everything from SB that I’ve tried, and for $10 it’s a cheap thrill.

Reply ButtonReply

Page

Charlotte,
I saw the Seraphine palette was still available in ADD ONs last night so I purchased it. At $10 I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve never tried the brand.

Page

Thanks for the heads up. I purchased the 24/7 hydration set for $20. A great deal!

Also Beth

Pretty annoyed that I spent $20 on the “Staycation Set” last sale, which is identical to the “Staycation Trio” but without two sample size products. I didn’t pay $10 for a primer sample :/

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

Also Beth- I read your follow up. 😉 Then I went and checked and you’re right, the Benefit primer is full sized. Good deal!

Also Beth

I know that nobody is going to ever read this follow-up but this actually just arrived and instead of the itsy bitsy primer sample listed in the description it included a FULL SIZE $32 primer (and for some reason two ipsy bags instead of one 😂). Taking back my bitterness, this was like Christmas even if I never would have chosen this primer on my own!

Samantha

I have ipsy and you do not get full size products for $25 a month. It’s small/trial size products. You have to pay more for full size products. But they are great products regardless!! I love it!

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

Ipsy Plus does send 5 full sized products, each month. Ipsy Ultimate sends 8 full sized products and 4 deluxe samples. The regular bag is the one where its mostly sample/deluxe samples, with some full sized products, on occasion.

Reply ButtonReply

Brenda

I say that about almost every bag every month. It seems like glam bags are always bigger/nicer than gbplus IMO.

Kristina J

Did anyone else get a cloth drawstring bag instead of make up bag? Mine arrived today, was the same print. They sent me a survey by email to comment on what I think of that bag instead of makeup one. 600 points for doing survey.

I LOVE the bags. My best friend works for the school system, so we put pads, lanty liners and tampons in them and 1 or 2 random “extra” sample items from ipsy of whatever box I sub too and dont want, and we put a couple pre packaged whipes in them with a positive note to have a good day. We make them up like once a year and she takes them into the school nurses office and if the girls start their period in school and need something, she just hands out the bags we have made, so it’s kinda private and it brightens their day. I WISH I could get more bags for a reasonable price because she said that they run out a lot and we have been trying to come up with options to finding more. I’ve went to local goodwill because I’ve heard people say their goodwill sells bundles of old ipsy bags like 20 for 5.00 and we have 2 stores near us and they want a 1.00 or more per bag (they for some reason price them different) . So I hope they keep sending bags because it makes me feel good to know that the girls that need it get them and it puts a smile on their face and she said they get so excited about the little extra sample stuff and that some families don’t have extra money to buy them a little something, so they refuse the bags and are excited to get a lip balm, or lip gloss or face wash etc .

That’s so nice!

Jamey, I have a BUNCH of assorted bags from Ipsy and Clinique, so if you could please give me an idea of what bag size you prefer and an address to ship them to, I will happily send what I can.

Reply to babyzillah at att dot net.

Pink5

Wow, interesting.

My first choice would be no bag, but a fabric drawstring bag would be preferable to what’s currently sent.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

I got the Haus gloss instead.

It, too, has no scent. I was disappointed with the swatching in the pictures. I got “Ethereal”, which looked like a dark rose, but arrived as a pink sparkly. Once applied, it does resemble what ethereal is supposed to be like. It is a good product, though.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I love the flesh packaging, but it def gives me 70’s porno vibes, haha.

That Wicked eyeshadow is gorgeous! I got the champagne shade, which I would be more excited about if I hadn’t received about 5 of the same shade the last few months! I’m still glad I didn’t add on the Wicked for $12, because the pots are pretty small for that price.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Even though I don’t sub to Ipsy, I was able to get the eye cream during their last chance add on sale (or is it called their Flash sale?). I haven’t received my order yet, but its consistency looks nice, and I can’t wait to try it 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Luna, there’s a pop-up sale starting tomorrow that you may be able to shop.

Reply ButtonReply

Jamey

Marion.

THANK YOU you for this info!! I didnt know they did lives or showed beforehand “daily deals” I just made an Instagram last week and the layout is kinda confusing for me trying to figure it out. It don’t help much that I dont “go live” or like my picture taken….lol

Luna

Thanks Marion! Yesterday, I saw it was going to happen today too, and like with all of Ipsy’s sales I was super pumped! 😀 However, I clicked on it this morning, and I was shut out this time since I’m not a subscriber. 🙁 Wah! I think I jinxed myself with my prior post, lol! They had some good stuff for really cheap too! I hope you were able to snag some awesome things! 🙂

Marion

What MzBev said! I watched the Instagram live. They also put “sneak peeks” of monthly items that are mostly the same as spoilers from the website, but give further info on how to use them, what texture they are, swatch them, what they smell like, etc. There’s usually only 1 or 2 new spoilers, but I like the extra info, & occasionally I end up buying an extra add-on based on what they’ve said about the product in the Instagram lives. Another thing they do on Instagram live streams is on Mondays, they have a video going over all of the ipsy offers that will be available in the shop that week.

If you don’t like watching videos, there’s someone on Reddit who generally posts the lists of products from Instagram lives to both r/BeautyBoxes & r/Ipsy.

Joy-Not the Other One

MzBev,
Thank you so much! That is good to know. I thought maybe I was just missing it in an email or card insert or something. I’m guessing LIVE is a Facebook or some other social media thing? That would explain my lack of knowledge. 🙂 Thank you again!

MzBev

Joy-Not the Other One, Ipsy had a live yesterday afternoon. Julia went over some of the pop up sale items and announced it, at the same time. Not sure if that’s how Marion knew about it, but its how I did.

Joy-Not the Other One

Marion, do you mind me asking how you knew about the pop-up sale? They are my favorite and I just check IPSY everyday hoping they will randomly show up. It would be so nice to know ahead of time. And thank you for mentioning it today! I have had glam bag for almost a year and I get emails from IPSY all the time, I have just never noticed one mentioning the pop-up sale, only daily deals.

Jrose

Mine just shipped out. I have those sheet masks coming. The avocado ones I plan on using on my husband, I am allergic to avocados. I wish there was a allergies opt out. I can’t wait to see mine I have six add ons all deluxe samples for skin and hair.

Reply ButtonReply

sparker

That Ciate is beautiful! Wow.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I also feel creeped out by the Flesh branding, but I really like their products. Their lip products are particularly good.

Reply ButtonReply

Casey

I just figured out that flesh is just part of revlon.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Does the Thrive lip gloss have a scent?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

No scent! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Awesome, thanks!

Redwoods301

No, all the glosses from the brand have no scent!

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Good to know! (I’m very picky, lol.)

Jacki

I will be receiving the eye cream as well. I’m still waiting for my box to ship.

Reply ButtonReply

Daisy

Jayjun masks are great quality, and a well known Korean brand! A set of six is a nice addition to a box. Remember when they included 2, no name masks as a full size in the Ultimate bag? 🙄

Reply ButtonReply

ATB

I almost got the Ciate shadow as an add on and now I wish I had – I love shadows like that as eyeliner!

Why is the GBP bag the same size as the regular bag? I was hoping it would be at least a little bigger.

Reply ButtonReply

Brenda

I say that about almost every bag every month. It seems like glam bags are always bigger/nicer than gbplus IMO.

Reply ButtonReply

Kate

This box looks great! I’m sad to say I got the ultimate and imo it wasnt as good as this plus. I need to go back to plus. But the FOMO!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Jamey

I’m shocked they are still doing ultimate with so many cancelled and issues with not really sending quality products for the price. Or at the very least moved it to every 3 months…but they just have enough subscribers to keep it going. I got them randomly for 4 months and cancelled because the value of what I got sent wasn’t good or things I kept.

Reply ButtonReply

Joni

My Ipsy GB was supposed to be delivered on 6/13, wasn’t, so I checked the tracking and it hasn’t moved since the 5th. I really wish they wouldn’t use DHL. I emailed CS, so I guess we will see what happens.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

Yep same. Mine has been enroute to dhl for 7 business days. I think Ipsy hasn’t really shipped it yet.

Reply ButtonReply

Kyxo

To give you guys some hope I had the same exact problem, but it has finally updated! After I emailed them and everything too, but they insisted I waited 15 days before they could step in, but were very apologetic. I was afraid it was definitely just lost in transit some how. It said “en route” to DHL center on June 7th and didn’t update until the 17th saying it was in Kentucky at the DHL center finally. Then on the 18th it claimed to be in Massachusetts, now finally on it’s way to me in Rhode Island. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So annoying, but at least it updated! I hope it does the same for you 😊

Pink5

A couple of months ago I whined about DHL on Ipsy’s Facebook page and asked if they could flip me to FedEx, which they did.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Mine hasn’t even shipped!

Reply ButtonReply

Cristina

Mine either.. Yea its been in the same route to no where 😂😂 i always got the reg glam bag so im extra excited for this one.

Alice

Same

Reply ButtonReply

Nikki

Same exact situation here, hasn’t moved since June 5!! I emailed customer service as well, they said shipping is taking liber and tracking is not being updated, but my box has never taken this long!

Reply ButtonReply

Kyxo

Same thing happened to me but it finally updated! From June 7th all the way to the 17th it didn’t update it claimed it was in Kentucky at the DHL center finally then on the 18th in Massachusetts, now on its way to me in Rhode Island. Someone else in my house already got their regular bag though and I get plus. Mine doesn’t take this long either, but I hope it works itself out for everyone else too.

Lisa

Mine hasn’t moved since June 5th either!

Reply ButtonReply

inkchick

I got the Wicked eyeshadow as well and love it. If you dab it on lightly with your finger, you can make it sheer enough even for daytime, so it’s very versatile. I also got sunscreen, which I’m very happy about, along with the eyecream you got (happy about that too), a Haus gloss (which I like), and the Bliss makeup remover stick, which will be great for when I can travel again. All in all, a pretty decent bag this month.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Bag twin!

Reply ButtonReply

Miss Pippa

I would be very happy to receive the exact box you did and thanks for the great review. For now I am sticking with GlamBag because I am buried in products I love and I will never be able to use them all (Did I need the Tarte accustom kit? Did I get it anyway?). I plan to buy the Thrive gloss in Effie & the Ciate shadow in Wicked because I will use both. Your pictures sold me.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

The feedback on the swatches is so good to hear! We used to take them in studio, but since we have been WFH I have been trying to make sure the ones I take are helpful still and reflect the product as accurately as I can. I am really happy to hear they are still helpful!

I also still find myself buying products even though it literally makes NO sense. Its a passion, and I have very little power over it sometimes 😂 I hope you enjoy both!

Reply ButtonReply

h

Have read good reviews of the eyeshadow, and your swatch looks beautiful as a dramatic one-color look. Agree with you on missing restaurants. That’s why I tolerate the heat of NOLA…to eat here. Anyways, I normally like JayJun masks. Sorry that those weren’t total winners. My bag is a little better than most. Mine from last month, with Sunday Riley Good Genes, still hasn’t shown up, and they made me wait until they ran out of stock…so sick of this IPSY and Boxy horrible shippers and then shipping junk when it was so obvious that the bags were missing before three weeks after the date of expected arrival. Sorry for meandering off topic.

Great review, as always. You definitely gave a thorough description of each item and swatch. Thank you.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

My hometown! I still live close. We’re neighbors!

Reply ButtonReply

h

Well, howdy, neighbor! So nice to see some fellow NOLA peeps on here! My parents just moved to the North Shore, so I have been making a few trips there and getting a little familiar. We have a farm that we kept horses when I was younger, in Folsom, so I somewhat familiar with it when it was not so built-up. The traffic! I am spoiled with being right between downtown and uptown NOLA, 5-10 mins from anywhere. It’s so pretty on the NS.

Wendy

Your bag looks great!

This was the first month ever that I didn’t receive the correct bag – I got a glam bag and not the plus. Regardless, everything in the wrong bag was not me at all. None of my add ons showed up either… I’m not salty or anything.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Eep, that is no fun. I hope Ipsy can remedy the error and MIA items. <3

Reply ButtonReply

Miss Pippa

I hope they make this right for you. I had two wonky boxes in a row a few months back. I emailed customer service and they took care of everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Debi

I enjoyed my box as well. Ipsy is always a good value. I wasn’t crazy about the sheet masks and black eyeliner I received this month, but the other 3 products made up for it. Im confused why I continue to be inundated with categories of products Ive opted out of. I also don’t understand the craze over sheet masks – I just can’t stand putting these slimy, wet masks on my face 🤣

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney Earl

If you’ll email them and tell them they will permanently opt you out of up to 3 categories. I’m the same way with bronzers. I do not use them and wont use them and I kept getting them , so I emailed them and was told this is what they do for their customers who DO NOT want certain items. 🙂 Good luck!!! I’ve always gotten AMAZING customer service from Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

Aidan

I got items I opted out of (eyeliner and mascara) in 3 of my last 4 plus bags. The other month I got one in my ultimate. When I emailed them they said they couldn’t guarantee opt-outs. I get that some months I might get one, but 3/4 of the time?! And before someone says it’s because I chose something, I purposefully did not choose anything and still got them. That’s part of the reason I skipped June (plus the dismal sneak peeks).

Megan K.

This was the first month of a new profile personalized to me, so I am still getting the hang of what products come and which don’t. I did notice a clay mask in my Ultimate that I totally opted out of, so we shall see how this goes for me. At least it was a deluxe sample size!

Reply ButtonReply

Amelia

I’ll take your masks 😂

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Dani, you are not alone. I hate sheet masks. I have a drawer full of them. Not only slimy, but how do they fit into my skincare routine? I don’t know what to use after…

Reply ButtonReply

Page

Hi, Michelle! I understand how you guys feel about sheet masks.

I will apply one in the mirror while my bath is running at night then leave it on while I soak in the tub. Any product that oozes through I just rub on my hands and they get a nice skin treatment as well. Doing them while in the bath one night a week works great since you don’t have to deal with the mess and when you get out of the tub you can toss the mask which is usually dry by then and less messy and you’re ready for any night serums and creams. (I always wash my face before applying the mask)
I actually keep my large collection of sheet masks in a wicker basket by the bath tub. So remembering to use them one night a week is easier. Ha Ha.
