Fortune Cookie Soap “Just Keep Swimming” May 2020 Review

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box.

Aqua Scum Whipped Cream, 1 oz - Estimated Value $2.75 (Buy the 4 oz version for $10.99)

I love the whipped cream lotion formula from this company, so this sample is already gone. Along with leaving my skin soft, smooth, and non-greasy, this had a really lovely scent of lychee, apple, and peach nectar.

Jellyman Scent Diffuser - Retail Value $12.99

I love these scent diffusers- they come sealed with a plastic cap that can be hard to pry off, but once you do that this makes a great scent diffuser for areas like sock drawers, closets, or cars. The scent profile for this includes notes of black cherry,  watermelon, guava, strawberry, and lime. I love watermelon in literally any format, so this smelled like a summer smoothie and I am happy to have it adding smells to my life.

Whale Talk Deep Conditioner, 0.5 oz - Buy the full-size version for $12.99

I forgot how much I love the FCS conditioner formula until I used this. It has a very thick texture and feels heavy when you're applying it, but it rinses away to leave soft and smooth hair that was noticeable after one use- and I use deep conditioners almost every time I wash my hair. This has scent notes of  strawberries, black currant, jasmine, grapefruit, and fresh avocado, and I honestly am tempted to purchase more of this deep conditioner while I write this review.

Shark Bait Toilet Bombs, 2 ct - Buy a full-size jar for $11.99

These are a bit of a miss for me simply because Duchess would throw a fit if I left the only toilet in the apartment closed for the night for this to do its thing (the queen must have multiple water sources- who am I to tell the cat what to do?). I left it for a few hours and appreciated that the scent of oranges, vanilla ice cream, and sandalwood-infused strawberries was actually pretty subtle. This + a toilet brush made me feel like a domestic queen, which is the furthest from the truth but sometimes it's okay to lie to ourselves (trust me, I'm a lawyer).

Intervention Fortune Cookie Soap - Retail Value $3.99

This soap is small but mighty. It smells delicious with notes of coconut and pineapple, and even though I didn't use it every time I showered it didn't disintegrate into mush from the shower steam. It doesn't dry my skin out, and I enjoy the overall novelty of this.

Fin.Noggin.Duuude. Shampoo Bar - Buy a 3.5 oz bar for $9.99

My hair dries out from shampoo easily due to my curls, so I didn't love this- but don't let my incredibly picky hair keep you from trying this if you're curious and don't have temperamental curls with a dry scalp. This had a scent of lemon-lime soda, orchids, and white chocolate, and while separate they may sound strange but together the scent was pleasantly unique.

The Verdict: Alright, who's ready to watch Finding Nemo with me? In all seriousness, I loved this month's box. It gave me two of my favorite FCS products in the whipped cream and deep conditioner, and as a whole, this box gave me great nostalgic vibes. I always appreciate the fact that this is a low-cost monthly subscription that brings me joy while still also providing useful products, and my bath-and-body-loving heart has a definite soft spot for this subscription.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I love getting those scent diffusers! Way better than getting a roll-on perfume each month, imo.

Didn’t they already do this theme/scents a long time ago??? A recycled theme?

FCS listens to customer requests and brings back themes that are very popular. When you see a recycled theme, it is because customers asked for it. There are several FB groups where the owners post asking for feedback, product suggestions, etc. They have the best customer service I have ever experienced.

I’ve only been subbed to this box for a few months so this was my first experience with their deep conditioner. I have waist length dry, curly hair that is very fine and thinner than I would prefer so I have a difficult time finding a deep conditioner that plays nicely with my moody, hateful hair. The conditioner in this month’s box was AMAZING! It left my hair so smooth and silky but not at all weighed down or greasy looking. I will be buying more asap!

You may want to get your cat a cat water fountain, rather than lettering her drink out of the toilet. They’re pretty inexpensive, and an easy way to keep fresh, running water for your kitty.

You can buy a cat a crystal fountain lined with diamonds and live fish swimming in it. But if the cat wants toilet water, it will do everything in its power to drink that stanky toilet water.

Haha that’s the truth!! Mine used to only drink from the faucet in the tub. I had to leave it on a slow drip or he’d sit by the tub and 😢

If FCS keeps up this assortment of products, I’ll have to resubscribe!
