Fit Snack Box is a subscription box containing snacks that each has at least two of the following characteristics: GMO-free, high protein, low sugar, gluten-free, organic, raw, vegan, and/or all-natural. (That is, any given item might be low in sugar and vegan, or organic and gluten-free but not vegan, etc.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Fit Snack Box May 2020 Review

The information card was a bit flashier this month, as a full-color folded brochure with lots of coupon codes. But there was still a workout and a list of items in the box.

Sometimes there are also coupons and/or product literature, but not always.

Swisse Me Boost Me Coffee Energy Blend (120 g x 2) - Buy 8 for £14.99 (about $19.01)

We received this in a different flavor last month. I do kind of like the idea of exploring different varieties of a product/brand in different months. Because if you don't like one, it may just be a one-time experience with a certain flavor, but others may appeal to you more. And especially with a product like this, which is from overseas (but they ship worldwide), you may not want to buy multiple cases of product without trying it first. Anyway, moving on. This has coffee and yogurt so, while I don't like coffee, I was sort of hoping the yogurt would add enough of a dairy flavor to make it palatable. Unfortunately, it really tasted like coffee to me, so I couldn't finish mine. My husband did finish his. He says he does not understand people who mix fruit flavors with coffee, and that is definitely noticeable here (whereas the yogurt, not so much). Anyway, your mileage may vary depending on your own particular tastes, but this was not for me.

Swisse Me Boost Me Pear Energy Blend (120 g x 2) - Buy 8 for £14.99 (about $19.01)

I was all ready to try this and then I happened to read the ingredients. Ugh. Collagen in a pear smoothie? So, I couldn't have it. (Collagen is a byproduct of meat and/or poultry processing and is not vegetarian.) My husband was a willing guinea pig and he found the flavor of this one good and he finished the pouch quickly. He says he is not really a fan of pouch snacks, and I understand that, as neither am I (except once after I had oral surgery, ended up in the ER from bleeding all day, and didn't want to chance solid food for awhile). If you want some protein and are not vegan or vegetarian and are also not a fan of the texture of protein bars, this may work for you, though.

Plantfusion Complete Meal Chocolate Caramel (2 servings) - Buy 10 servings for $37.35

OK, so I like this enough that I bought the full-sized tub awhile back, but I will never finish the full-sized tub because I keep getting samples of it in Fit Snack Box and sometimes Vegancuts Snack. This one is vegan and I think it blends quite well. Full disclosure, though, I put this into smoothies instead of making meal replacement shakes as 200 calories per serving is just not enough for a meal for me. But it works really well with the other ingredients I use, like unsweetened almond milk, cacao, matcha, hemp seeds, and frozen fruit. Also by making smoothies I can make one package last longer, which is nice since this is a little expensive per serving.

Ultima Replenisher Electrolytes (3 pack x 2) - Buy 20 Stickpacks for $19.99

This is another item I see in a lot of boxes, so I've tried it before. I tend to like the berry flavors more than the citrus ones, but that is a personal preference. It is nice to get a couple to try here if this is a new product for you. It is starting to get hot outside and sometimes if I am feeling a little dehydrated from walking or some other outdoor activity, it is nice to have a product like this around the house. It's also easier to transport because you can just get a bottle of water wherever and add this to it (not that anyone is traveling right now, but when travel starts back up again, that is something to think about). Anyway, I get more excited about electrolyte supplementation during summer when I am more likely to need it, so this arrived at a good time. (I kind of wish it wasn't sweetened with stevia, though.)

Ekoa Pure Mango (1.25 oz x 2) - Buy 12 for $19.99

The first ingredient in these is dates and they really just taste like dates with very little mango flavor. That is not necessarily true of some of the other varieties, but if I hadn't seen the package, I would not have known there was any mango in here. They are not too sticky and if you are looking for a bit of natural fruit sugar for an afternoon pick-me-up, though, these would be nice, but I feel like the banana and coconut ones taste more like the fruit advertised on the packaging.

Foods Alive Chocolate Macaroon Power Snackers (1 oz) - Buy 3 oz for $6.99

In a similar vein, I would not have known these have any coconut in them if not for seeing the packaging. They do have a chocolate flavor, as well as visible seeds. I rather like the texture, which is quite cracker-like for a raw food, although be forewarned that it will stick to your teeth like nothing else, and no amount of drinking fluids is enough to wash it away (I had to use a Water Pik).

Mozaics, Cheddar (0.75 oz) - Buy 8, 3.5 oz bags for $29.99

These were probably my favorite item in the box. I have had this brand before, but not this flavor. It was actually cheesy, and of course I like the base, which is largely potato with some veggie bits. I don't know that I would want a whole case of these, but I might buy an individual bag every now and then if I saw them in a store.

Lesser Evil Egg White Curls, Huevos Rancheros (1.5 oz) - Buy 6, 4 oz bags for $23.99

OK. These are mostly tapioca starch and egg white. They don't taste bad and the texture is a little rustic but not terrible (there is some chewiness from the egg whites that is not present in their other product, Paleo Puffs). But the way they look. Seriously nothing like the picture on the package. They remind me of extra large deep fried grubs in terms of appearance. Also, these are super spicy and will give you dragon breath, so just be forewarned.

Verdict: The May Fit Snack Box had 13 items (counting doubles separately) for an average value of $2.22 per item. I think this was, overall, a good box. I discovered a few new items (power snackers and egg white curls) and a few new flavors of known products (Mozaics, Swisse Me, Ekoa bars) as well as getting more of an old favorite (protein powder). Almost everything was vegetarian, as well, which is nice for me, personally. And I was kind of happy not to see any meat sticks this month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Boxes ship out around the 20th of the month (mine went out a little later than that in May) so it is too late to get May’s box.

Value Breakdown: At $28.90 for this box, you are paying about $2.22 per item.
