Allure Beauty Box June 2020 Review

A handy booklet has all the product info inside.

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera, 10 mL – Estimated Value $7.60 (Buy 50 mL for $38.00)

I tend to like these lightweight Belif creams and this one a summertime dream with an added aloe element to a cult fave! This does have denatured alcohol pretty early on into the ingredient list, so if you are avoiding alcohols, keep that in mind. More on this here! This formula has a lightweight scent and a lightweight texture to match, and, of course, it feels amazing if you keep it cold in the fridge.

Yensa Super 8 Lip Oil in 'Pink Shine', 0.23 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $28.00

I tried this lip oil a few months ago, and I am going through it pretty fast! It gives my lips just a bare wash of pink and SO much shine. It also has a sweet scent that reminds me of candy. Inside are nourishing oils from coconut and avocado seed, as well as vitamin E. Needless to say, this minimal lip boost fits right in line with my minimal routine these days, but it looks equally as great on top of a bold lip shade.

Glossy!

Dashing Diva Gloss Ultra Shine Gel Palette - Retail Value $8.00

My nails are just terrible. Professional gel polish doesn't even stick to them for more than a week and though an acrylic overlay did manage to add length without peeling, it is just too much $$$ and work for me right now. I usually just end up repolishing every 3 or 4 days with normal polish. These stickers were intriguing because they are like a gel polish sticker, and application was easy! First, wipe your nails down with alcohol or acetone. Then, simply pick out the correct size for your nail (in my case I used all the small ones pretty fast), apply, then buff the excess off with the included file. My nails are so small and short I can easily get double the use here if I cut the individual nail covers in half! These did end up lasting longer than regular nail polish normally would and the nail art aspect was adorable, so I enjoyed these a lot.

Especially loving that cute ring finger design.

Purlisse Watermelon + Charcoal Purifying Cleanser, 3.4 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $35.00

FYI: Subscribers will receive either this or a full-size Context Vitamin C All Day Eye Cream.

I know loads of people love this cleanser, but for me personally the watermelon scent was a lot and it was super sweet! It does feel like summer though, I will admit. I loved the formula itself a lot more than the scent. It is infused with charcoal to purify pores, vitamins A, B6, and C, oats to calm irritation, and white tea antioxidants. If you already have dry skin, reserve this for every few days, because it does such an effective job of cleansing that it can make your skin feel a little tight! It was pretty awesome to see such a popular product in this box, and in a full-size tube to boot!

La Roche-Posay Active C10, 5 mL - Estimated Value $8.33 (Buy a full-size 30 mL for $49.99)

FYI: Subscribers will receive either this or Shangpree Gold Black Pearl Eye Masks.

Our last item is a lightweight cream with loads of antioxidants, vitamins C and E, and hydrating and soothing elements. It also should have a brightening effect over time due to the vitamin C which should help fade dark spots! It does have a light fragrance that I kind of liked, and it also had wonderful absorption on my face, making it great as a daytime cream. This little tube should last quite some time since it takes just barely a little bit to cover my face.

Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $98.30, which is great for a $15 box. There were also two full-size items this month, one of which was worth over double the cost of the box, so this is automatically an awesome value. I was thrilled to see my fave sheet mask make an appearance, and I also thought the nail covers were a cool thing that I don't often see in boxes. The lip oil was a hit and I am happy to have a new tube. Both of the facial creams had textures and benefits I liked. All in all, I think June was a pretty wonderful month for Allure's beauty box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Did anyone receive the Context eye cream? I want to subscribe for the July box, but considered getting this one too, but the last thing I need is another cleanser lol. I thought that maybe if I waited until late in the month, I might get the eye cream, but all of the unboxings that I have seen have been the Purlisse.

I guess at this point I’ll just wait until July to sub, but I also was hoping to grab the free Tarte mascara and I don’t know if that expires at the end of this month.

Yes I got the eye cream. I wanted the cleanser. Haven’t tried it yet, I have too many eye cream already Allure send eye cream pretty regularly. I would swap.

Stephanie

No guarantees Carol but you have a better chance getting the eyecream if you’ve never subbed to Allure before. This eye cream was feature in their box a while ago and since Allure guarantees no repeats most of their subscribers received the cleanser since a lot of us have a reoccurring subscription.

I myself have a lot of cleansers too so I use this as a body wash.

Carol

Thanks for your reply. I have subbed on and off, but never received that cream. Using it as a body wash is a good idea though!

Did anyone get the TonyMoly snail 24k mask? That one is my fav, but it seems like everyone got the Starskin.

Tara W

Sadly, I got the TonyMoly (through Allure). I really wanted to try the Starskin!

I LOVE the nail stickers and I use them exclusively because a) no drying time and b) I can do them anywhere and c) they last a long time, especially if I prepped them a bit with a fiber base coat and give them a light roughing up with an emery board, and light coat later ( sometimes a few days later) with clear topcoat.

Thanks for the tips! <3

Loved this box so much I ordered a second one just to get another bottle of that cleanser. I love the smell and the fact that it doesn’t burn my eyes or dry out my skin. Also a big fan of the Belif moisturizer. My daughter loves the nail stickers and lip oil. Winner of a box for us.

Omgosh, this is why I LOVE MSA. Reviews always make me so much more excited about my boxes!

You made my day Lori! Glad to bring the hype!

Yeah my nails are so weird those always look weird on me! So cute on you though… One of my fav boxes I did get 2!

Great box this month! I’ve used and loved everything already with the exception of the nails (thought they would be crappy like other nail stickers), and after seeing your pics, I’m trying this weekend. Loving the La Roche Vit C cream too..smells great and def can see a difference in brightness.

I thought this was a great box. I liked it so much I ordered another through amazon only last week and it already arrived just yesterday. I have the lip oil from Ipsy and enjoy using it so I will be super happy gifting my extra two tubes knowing they are winners as well as at least one of the Purlisse. I have liked all the Starskin products I have tried and am looking forward to trying the mask. I cracked open the aqua bomb to sniff and am liking the aloe take on it, it looks like it will be refreshing and light. La Roche-Posay is a solid brand even though the tube is tiny. I think Allure is knocking it out of the park lately! Super happy! 🙂

That Starskin mask is my fave mask ever! Let me know what you think!

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

The lip oil is a mainstay for me now. I used Ipsy points to snag another.

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

I loooooooooooooove the lip oil too!

Reply ButtonReply

JEM

I did the exact same thing yesterday!!

Alice

Great minds!

This was the box I got.

I was kind of amused that the Purlisse box and the nail set packaging were just a teeny bit too big for the standard Allure box.

I was a little disappointed to get the LaRoche Posay cream instead of the eye masks. The masks sounded so fancy I wanted to try them.

Reply ButtonReply

Tami

I actually liked the eye masks so much I ordered the full size. I have a problem with puffiness under my eyes and I noticed a difference right off. So they work for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I agree about the eye masks. I had the worst time getting them to stay in place!

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I just tried mine last night, and thought they weren’t too shabby. Besides making my undereyes look nice (flatter, brighter, & smoother) I really liked they didn’t move down on me at all which gel eye masks can sometimes do on me. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was that they didn’t leave any serum behind. One thing I love with eye masks is being able to apply excess serum around my eyes, plus I like the feeling of added moisture or hydration which I didn’t think these did.

Errmmm

Don’t be envious, the eye masks aren’t all that. I’d much rather have gotten the LaRoche Posay cream!

Thank you so much for showing the Dashing Diva product in use! I have stopped biting my nails and after a month, they are almost (finally!) the length of yours. I was excited to get these but I was not sure how they would look or if they worked at all. They look great on you and I can’t wait to use mine now. I had no idea you were meant to put different patterns on different nails, but it looks so professional and fun. Thanks again for another great review. I am loving my Allure box (which I got thanks to your May review).

Stephanie

The nail stickers fricking rocked! Regular nail polish chips in a day for me and I hate reapplying all the time so I normally go without. I’ve had these on for a week and they’re still going strong. My new bestie!

Reply ButtonReply

Maria

No joke. I tested it one one nail. It’s been over a week. I’ve been doing some cleaning with steel wool, gardening and built a fire pit. No gloves. That nail is still pretty.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz

These nail stickers are the only thing that I have considered purchasing more from considering every Allure box I have ever gotten! I’ve had mine on now for two weeks and they show absolutely no wear (aside from the growth of my nails). I could use a nail trim but I don’t want to spoil my cute manicure!

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

Me too! This is the one thing I will be purchasing more of. I hope you got the email from Allure with the 20% off the nail stickers.

This is one of my favorite Allure boxes ever.

PudgeKat

Me too! Such great items this time that I’m going to repurchase as staples. Great finds!

I absolutely LOVED this box! The lip oil is EVERYTHING!! I like it so much! I had saved aside the nail decals for an extra for my daughter’s birthday…but they look so cute on you!! I usually just polish my toes. I keep my nails really short and bare, usually.
I haven’t tried the purlisse yet, but I’m very excited for the product! I really like the 2-minute scrub/mask…so, I bet I will love this too!
I really like using sheet masks and eye masks, so I cannot wait to use these!
All around, just a wonderful box!

I usually look at nail art as an instant give away product, so I’m so glad you shared your experience. This June box has my attention now!

Reply ButtonReply

Lindy

Does anyone know the Amazon variations?

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I got the Starskin, Purlisse and the eye gel patches.

Quick note about the sheet mask, once you apply an oil NOTHING else can penetrate. So what you said isn’t accurate I’m afraid. Whatever ingredients that are in the mask will actually penetrate the skin with the oil on first. A better way would be to apply the oil right after removing the sheet mask to lock the ingredients from the sheet mask into skin. Water (like sheet mask ingredients) cannot penetrate an oil. That’s why oil is always the last step in a skincare routine.

Reply ButtonReply

Courtney

It also depends on if the product has an emulsifier in it, as most do. Think
Of it this way; if what said was accurate, any oils in any product such as the inclusion of argon or Neroli or any of the botanicals would just sit on top of your skin, which we know is not the case as most skin products contain a combination of water and oil ingredients.

Reply ButtonReply

Tina

I was surprised when I read the step by step guide. It clearly states on the back of the package to put a few drops of oil to your face before the mask. Weird.. I thought it would block everything but then again there are people who use oils before moisturizer so I guess it still works?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan Kirkland

Going to agree to disagree with you on this one. That absorption has a lot to do with molecule density, size, and also your skin hydration levels. Oil isn’t a total barrier to water based ingredients, especially if you massage your face while wearing the mask. As someone with super dry skin it is one of my favorite things, especially with all the weirdness my face is experiencing with mask wearing.

Jenn

I was also really happy to recieve the Purlisse cleanser. Havent tried it yet because I already have 5 open cleansers but I am excited to use it. I really like the lip oil too. I’m really excited for the Peach and Lily serum in the July box.

Joy-Not the Other One

Thank you so much for trying the nail covers!!!! My nails are exactly like yours and while I LOVE to paint them, it is usually a pretty frustrating endeavor that ends in wailing and gnashing of teeth when one to two days later everything chips off after all my hard work. I have tried EVERYTHING from specialty base coats that claim to be sticky so that the polish will adhere to super-duper polishes that promise they won’t chip for a month. I’ve even had them done in the salon with gel paint several times and it always chips THE NEXT DAY on at least one hand. The only real success I’ve had is with a line of press on’s from KISS that are SUPER SHORT and very natural looking but I reserve them for occasions because its just a lot for everyday, especially right now.

So, needless to say I was so excited to see these in this month’s box but I was immediately skeptical that they would work for me since my nails are below the tips of my fingers. Also, I have tried this brand’s (Dashing Divas) press on nails on three separate occasions and they are really not great. But these decals look AWESOME on you! I’ve been putting off trying them for all the reasons above but after seeing yours I cannot wait to use them. Thank you so much! 🙂

Oh also, I got the under eye gels instead of the La Roche-Posay and they were really great too. I keep a stash of eye gels in the fridge and I tried them last Sunday and I was really happy with them. This month’s box was just really great.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

You are most welcome Joy! I figured I had to try them because so often nail art looks like it won’t work for tiny nails like ours. Also when nothing sticks to your nails its frustrating to even try new things sometimes. I hope you enjoy these like I did. Maybe we both found a new mani solution!

I enjoyed this box. Got the eye masks. Can’t wait to try out nails. I’ve used this type of product before but not from this company.

I wish I could you the nail palette, but my nail beds are just so small. They look good on you. I plan to give to my niece.
