Style Plan by Frank And Oak is a clothing subscription for women and men from Canadian brand Frank And Oak, who often uses recycled and organic materials coupled with eco-conscious methods to produce stylish clothes that you can feel good about wearing. Each month their stylists provide a selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories to choose from that fit your unique style. Once you receive the pieces, you can keep what you like or return what you don't with the $25 styling fee only being charged if you keep nothing.

This review is of the Style Plan by Frank And Oak for Men, which has no styling fee for a limited time (normally $25) and free shipping.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Style Plan by Frank And Oak Men's Review - April 2020

It's important to note that for a limited time, Frank And Oak is waiving their $25 styling fee and has extended their return policy to 30 days! That means you can sign up for the Style Plan for free and only pay for the items you hold on to.

*As a reminder, you will get charged for everything in your Style Plan box up-front when ordering and will receive a refund for anything you end up returning.

The other great thing I'd like to note is that they've added a button on most of their items to "Add to my next Style Plan box". This allows you to add items to your Style Plan box without the help of a stylist. Not every item has this feature, but many do. This is good news for picky people like myself who would end up chatting with my stylist most months to add items for me that I was interested in trying but weren't included in my box.

This month's Style Plan box came with an info sheet that reminds us where to find your order breakdown in your account and how to reach out with questions.

The Stanley Short-Sleeved Poplin Shirt in Black, size small - Retail Value $$59.50/Member Price $53.50

Made with 100% organic "good cotton," this poplin shirt is really handsome and perfect for spring. The print on the shirt is a little hard to see online, but Kurt ended up really liking the tiny dotted black squares against a white background. This short sleeve button-up shirt is a great middle-ground between a casual tee and a dress shirt. From afar it just looks grey, but then up close you're able to see a unique pattern. He found the length of this one a little longer than a standard button-up but he says it works with the rounded cut of the hem.

Slim-Fit Hemp T-shirt in Powder Blue, size small - Retail Value $39.50/Member Price $37.50

For the second month in a row, Kurt accidentally shrunk a shirt but this time I reaped the benefits. Just a note- the tag inside this hemp tee had washing but not drying instructions. The website clearly states not to tumble dry, but once again, we live and learn! It ended up shrinking up and although it still fit Kurt, it became a belly shirt. Lucky for me, it fits me quite well and it's now mine. The 55% hemp, 45% cotton blend has an interesting texture that seems a little more "raw" than their normal smooth cotton and gives it a vintage look. The powder blue color of this tee is soft and nice, and Kurt plans to order a replacement soon!

Striped Slim Tee in Olive Green, size small - Retail Value $34.50/Member Price $32.50

Kurt liked his striped shirt from his February Style Plan box so much that he decided to get another one in different colors. I am so pleased because I think he looks so nice in stripes! This green version has two different olive colors alternating to create a nice earth-tone colorway. Kurt loves earth tones, so this looks great with his brown suede boots and jeans but can also be worn with chinos. As always with Frank And Oak, the fit of this tee was perfect!

Here is one of the full outfits that Kurt got this month. Both items will be great to wear once he returns to the office after working from home.

The Jasper Good Cotton Oxford Shirt in White, size small - Retail Value $59.50/Member Price $54.50

When I asked Kurt what he thought of this 100% organic good cotton oxford, he said "the slim cut’s nice for tucking in," which is an important detail for work shirts for him. He also said that it’s "really just soft and comfortable." There's a single breast pocket on the left side and the sleeves are easily rolled up for a more casual yet hard-working look. 😉

The Mackay Skinny Chino Pant in Black, size 31x32 - Retail Value $79.50/Member Price $69.50

Kurt prefers a slim cut pant, and that goes for chinos as well as jeans. Once again, like most Frank And Oak pants, these fit him really well in both length and waist with plenty of room to move. He remarks that not only are they softer than other chinos he has, but that he's noticed that they're also more well constructed which means they'll last longer. These are made with 98% cotton and 2% spandex which is probably what makes them so comfortable!

The Verdict: Another month of his Style Plan by Frank And Oak, another screaming success for Kurt! I think it's safe to say that Kurt has found his new favorite retailer for casual and work clothes alike. He gets so excited to confirm his Style Plan each month and talks about stocking up on their tees which have quickly become staples in his wardrobe.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each Style Plan by Frank And Oak box is catered to your preferences, so you'll most likely have different options than Kurt. The good news is that you can sign up for your own Style Plan to see what the styling team will pick for you!

Value Breakdown: The total retail price for the five items that Kurt chose is $272.50 but the total price for members came to $247.50 which is a savings of $25.00.

Can anybody walk me through the process of canceling my subscription? I signed up with your link and made different choices from the ones my stylist chose, which were “refused”, and then got a fraud alert from my credit card company that Frank and Oak had tried to charge my card twelve separate times. No reply from Frank and Oak on chat and no replies to my emails. The FAQ said you could cancel from the “membership settings” on your profile, but there is no tab by that name. There is “account settings”, but no place there to cancel. Too bad, because the clothes I wanted to try looked great.

Hi Irene,

That sounds awful! I wonder if the fact that they are Canadian is why it was flagged but that, of course, doesn’t explain the entire poor experience you had.
I do have a “Membership Settings” section in my account where I am able to skip a month, change the day it ships, or cancel by emailing customer service. It’s possible that your settings were not there yet simply because your first box did not go through. What a mess! I’m glad you finally got it canceled.

A representative from Frank and Oak just emailed me that they had cancelled the subscription for me (I still have no information on how to do it myself on the site, though).
