Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's theme is Glow, inspiring this beautiful pink and yellow ombre bag!

First Aid Beauty FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask, 0.34 oz - Estimated Value $3.55 (Buy a full-size 3.4 oz $32.00)

I am a huge fan of First Aid Beauty; their quality is phenomenal, perfect for sensitive skin, and as a bonus, the products are fragrance-free. I’m always excited to receive a FAB product. This FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask is formulated with arnica to promote accelerated healing and reduce inflammation. The mask is what I would call “ultra” hydrating and left my skin soft and glowing.

Be Your Inc.redible Self With NAILS.INC Nail Polish in Lilac Grove, 10 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $11.00

I’m pumped to receive a nail polish this month, especially with all my local nail salons still closed. This Be Your Inc.redible Self polish from NAILS.INC in the color Lilac Grove has a brilliant wide flat brush for smooth and easy application. One coat of this beautiful spring color was more than enough, the polish went on opaque! With a long lasting and quick drying formula, this product is a definite win!

tarte SEA Jelly Glaze Anytime Lip Mask in Strawberry Jelly, 0.1 oz - Estimated Value $7.00 (Buy a full-size 0.2 oz $14.00)

A tarte product! Ipsy is just crushing it for me this month! This tarte SEA Jelly Glaze Anytime Lip Mask in Strawberry Jelly not only smells absolutely divine, but it is also incredibly hydrating. It instantly began nourishing my dry, chapped lips. With just a hint of a sheer pink color, this lip mask is all kinds of flirty summer fun. The product is rich with a fun jelly texture that isn’t sticky. The tube is the tiniest sample size I’ve ever seen, but I’m still thrilled to have received it.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara in Black, 0.1 oz - Estimated Value $8.33 (Buy a full-size 0.3 oz $25.00)

This product is… Bah, humbug. Sure, it’s useful and an essential staple in most beauty regimens, but Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara in Black, I have it and have received it from Ipsy previously. It’s a great product, but how many does one girl need? This product does have a unique hooked applicator that grabs, separates, and lifts each lash. With a curve setting and long lasting formula, this water-resistant, rich black mascara is perfect for everyday wear to make your eyes pop.

SLMISSGLAM SS57 Brush - Full Size! Retail Value $18.50

Now this SLMISSGLAM SS57 brush is gorgeous. It has a pink glitter sparkly handle with two gems adorning the ferrule and pink and white ombre bristles. The problem is, Ipsy has sent me a ton of beautiful fluffy eyeshadow brushes and I use… one. This brush has a soft, fluffy head of bristles that is perfect for blending eyeshadow on the lid or in the crease of your eye. Eyeshadow connoisseurs and pink lovers alike will love this product.

Verdict: This month's Ipsy Glam Bag had some products I'm pretty excited about. I think the Be Your Inc.redible Self nail polish in Lilac Grove is my top pick out of this month's box. The brush was a great design that added to the quality of the polish. Application was smooth and the polish dried quickly. The tarte lip mask is another win for me. I love the sweet fruity smell of the strawberry jelly and the fun texture of the product. The FAB mask is another product I'm excited for. With my sensitive skin, the FAB brand in particular is always great to receive. The Benefit mascara is a strong product and an everyday staple for most of us, but with the excitement of the other products in the box, this one was a little humdrum for me. If you're looking for a solid everyday mascara that will give you bold lashes and make your eyes pop, this may be a product for you to try. The SLMISSGLAM SS57 brush is absolutely glamorous to look at, but at this point, Ipsy has sent me quite a few eyeshadow brushes, and I really only use one. But if you're someone who experiments with multiple palettes and colors of shadow, an extra brush is always a plus and this one has a great aesthetic to boot. This month had a nice value estimated at $48.38. That is great for a $12 subscription!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

Value Breakdown: At $12 for this box, I calculated a value of $48.38. Here's how that breaks down per item:

  • FAB Mask: $0.88
  • Nail Polish: $2.73
  • Tarte Lip Mask: $1.74
  • Benefit Mascara: $2.07
  • SLMISSGLAM Brush: $4.59

Alternatively, each of the 5 items has an average cost of $2.40

I really love Ipsy, they have did a great job with my bag curation the last few months. This is kind of off subject, but I also got the brush in the bag, it was a beautiful brush with all that bling. Some of these brushes are expensive, 35.00 or more.
I was looking at all my brushes this morning, they are in a very large novelty cup on my sink, I must have 30 of them in that cup approximately half of them need cleaned. It is such a arduous task if you do it with the intention of removing every last vestiges of old makeup.
I decided to apply my makeup as I did before all these brushes and fancy tools made the scene, it just seemed quicker with less cleanup.
I started out with moisturizer, then a nice Tarte primer, both applied from the back of my hand. I then applied my foundation from the back of my hand, then used a potatoe wedge sponge to get a even finish. I used lipstick for blush, also smoothed with my hands. Then came eyeshadow, Pacifica still puts the little sponge applicators in their eyeshadow. I swept it on with the applicator, and used the point for my crease. Then applied my concealer to under eye using my fingers. Applied my mascara, then a quick spritz of setting spray.
All of this took me 6 minutes.
Gave a good look in the mirror, I must say my makeup looked really good 🙂
I don’t know the old way seems just as quick and effective.
I sometimes think all these brushes are just a gimmick, the markup on them must be astronomical. I love them too, they look nice on my counter, but sometimes the old fashioned way, is so much quicker, with no brushes to clean too.

@Shari re: your brushes
I got a bowl brush cleaner online that cleans my a brush AND dries it in less than a minute. Yes, it’s a little damp but nothing like when done manually. You can see all the gunk in the bowl so I clean my brush until it runs clear. Dries in like 30 sec. It’s a game-changer for sure. HTH!

I love Ipsy and the small sizes, I can actually use everything within a few weeks time. Ipsy has been knocking it out of the ballpark for me.

Did anyone else notice a weird smell in their bag? Mine was so bad, I had to throw it away for the first time in years of getting bags! It was awful – like bad food. I remember the bags used to be SO cute and different. Now, they seem to have gone away from cute and more towards just different geometric shapes, or basic shapes. I miss the cute designs.

Naomi, we are bag twins! I totally second you in the review. Black mascara, another brush, ba humbug!

I received the brush, and the absurdly small Tarte (waste of plastic, IMHO). I also received the polish, but in a deep rose color (Primrose Walk). My other products were a Juju:En aloe Vera mask and a gorgeous Space Case eyeshadow pot in a shimmering silver. I was happy.

The ombré bag is very cute, but like others have noted, it’s a bit smaller than the usual size.

Randie

I really wish I’d gotten that eyeshadow.

My bag is arriving late (should be here Friday or Saturday, hopefully intact this month lol). I wasn’t very interested in the tarte mask when I saw it revealed (I figured it was just expensive balm), but I’ll give it a chance. After reading reviews of the FAB mask, I am regretting not picking it up in the last minute add-ons though.

Hi Naomi,
Thanks for the interesting and detailed review! I agree with M that it would have been great to also see a swatch or glob of the lip mask to get an idea of what it looks like. I love that nail polish colour and it looks gorgeous on you! Had to laugh about your brush-using habits. Thank you for the entertaining review!

Mine won’t get here until next week! My Glam Bag Plus until June 1st! lol, i know everyone is backed up with shipping but this is the longest ive ever had to wait. I wish I hadn’t gone crazy in the add-ons, the excitement is gone.

Shannon

My plus bag hasn’t even shipped, it’s still in assembling. I’ll receive my June probably before my May bag.🥺

My Glam Bag Plus has just been sitting there, not moving for ten days. Has yours been doing the same?

I enjoyed the Tart jelly glaze too, I didn’t enjoy the tiny sample size nor the fact that it was “sold out” during my choice and yet it was available as an add-on, which I paid $3 for such an unknowingly tiny size.

Reply ButtonReply

A.M.

If you click on the link from item’s picture to the product page on Ipsy’s site, they are usually great about listing the add-on’s product size. Or, if unlisted, you can often zoom in on the pic to verify the weight of the item.
In the case of the Tarte lip jelly, it’s actually half the size of the full size product. Oftentimes lip products such as this are on the smaller side, which I appreciate- it’s faster to rotate through them! Hope you enjoy yours!

Joy

Just fyi, I have the full size Tarte lip jelly and it is 10g but the sample is only 3g. It’s only 1/3 rather than 1/2 of the size.

Also for some reason size details etc haven’t been showing up during add ons as of late. It has been pretty annoying

Randie

Even though it’s tiny, the Tart jelly glaze is definitely my favorite item from my bag. I wish it wasn’t in a tube so that I could make sure to only use the tiniest bit but I love the smell and how moisturizing it is on my lips.

This is the best Ipsy I’ve ever seen! The only thing I do not like is the color of the nail polish. Wow. When I had an annual sub, I never got anything I liked but now that I changed to monthly, it’s like the curtains were pulled back. I see the light!

kate

how do you do that

I received the tarte and the brush in my bag also. I love brushes from Slmissglam they are always so beautiful and the quality is very nice as well. I was a little disappointed when I saw the bag itself though. I thought it would be a nice pretty ombré but mine is mostly pink. In fact you can hardly see the yellow at all. I asked my daughter what color it was and she thought it was pink too. Other than that I really enjoy my regular Ipsy and have been since downgrading from plus. I was having too much fomo with plus when I looked at the regular bag because of the brands being offered. I know the whole thing is to explore new items but I’d rather explore new items from known brands.

That lip jelly seems interesting. Would be nice to see the texture and color.

This says Ipsy review #2. Where is the first one? I did a search but cannot find it. Can you link me, please? I still haven’t got my regular bag yet. Got Plus yesterday.

Perhaps it is because of the MSA Insiders Review of the Glam Bag recently..

This was my bag too, great review Naomi! The brush is very pretty and I can always use blending brushes.

I skipped May because I didn’t like any items in choice. Now I see there is option to customize future bags under membership . You can pick 3 products and opt out for 3,6 or 12 months. I chose to opt out of mascara, eyeliner, and bronzer. It is where you find option to skip month .

dia

I’ve tried it several times. It keeps saying, “Sorry, something went wrong….”. Oh well.

Sherry

@dia
Yeah, I understand. If there’s too many charges from a company then the card company can block it and it has nothing to do with Ipsy. I also put some blocks on my cards for purchases over a certain amount. My husband also tells me he put a block AFTER the fact, lol. It’s worth a shot to call your card co. because I’d want some good deals esp. right now!

dia

Sherry, Ipsy has no problem charging my card every month for it the GPB, so they should have no problem charging my card for the flash sales. There’s just something internally going wrong at Ipsy that they either can’t or won’t bother fixing.

Sherry

Dia, it sounds as if you need to call your credit card company to add Ipsy as an authorized company. Ipsy WANTS your money, lol.

dia

I’ve never had luck with Ipsy CS. I’m never able to shop their Flash Sales or Ipsy Offers, because they always cancel my order a few seconds after they confirm it. I’ve contacted CS at least 10 times; each time they say it’s been flagged as a fraudulent purchase. I’ve told them repeatedly this is not fraudulent, I’ve never had a fraud issue with Ipsy, my mailing address matches my billing address… I’ve just given up. It sucks, because their Flash Sales are great.

LunaLee

I just wanted to chime in that Ipsy customer service has always been great for me all these years. I usually get the same rep for a few months to a year if you reply back to the same email. They are always helpful with answering questions quickly or sending replacements etc. Even during this time. My bag was taking long to ship as expected and I didn’t email them but received an email that they gave me points because of the long wait. A lot of people received the same email.

Beth in Oklahoma

I’m contacted Ipsy several times, and have always received a very quick response and satisfactory outcome. Contrast that with Birchbox, who once took 14 days to respond about an order.

Dia, is this on the Ipsy app? It’s notorious for being cranky.

Tara W

I also have been very pleased with Ipsy customer service. They are usually very quick, kind, and helpful.

Sherry

@beth I can only speak for myself. My experiences were fantastic. When my items were damaged, they were resent promptly and with a smile. When I wanted to cancel my annual, they obliged. Questions about GB, GBP, GBU? Replied with a smile. So yeah. Top notch in my book. Obv I can’t speak for the entire beauty community.

Beth

@sherry Great customer service?! Are you serious? They don’t offer real solutions just apologies & canned responses! Ipsy is one of my favorite subs…but top notch customer service?! Hardly!

Sherry

Contact Ipsy. They have great customer service. Top notch!

kate

how do you do that

I love most of the FAB line… there are a few items that have a scent to them, similar to Noxema. I stay away from those. Otherwise, they are great!
