March 2020 Super Chewer "Craft Chewing" Review

Each box arrives with an information card with details about the items included, as well as ideas on how to engage with your pup.

Super Chewer March 2020 Card

This month's theme is "Craft Chewing," and I'm basically dead from how cute that is. My husband and I are huge craft beer fans, so this feels custom-made for us. We really love taking our black lab-border collie mix, Archie, to all the breweries in our city that allow doggos on their patios!

Super Chewer March 2020 Chicken Stick

Chicken Thinker Stick, 0.63 oz - Retail Value $3

Chicken stick time! Archie loves these, and I like the consistency of seeing certain treats in more than one box. I've mentioned before that sometimes too wide of a variety of treats can make my boy a little, odoriferous, if you will, and I can only assume that having a few favorites in rotation will also keep his tummy nice and happy. I usually leave these sticks out for my husband to give to Arch so that they can have some bonding time in the evenings, and they have such a good time together.

Got Hops? Toy - Retail Value $14

If I'm being perfectly honest, this might be my favorite toy we've received from Super Chewer so far! Like I said, my husband and I really love craft beer, so it really makes me smile to see him playing with a giant replication of a hop - especially because he loves this toy so much. As you can see in the second picture, there's a small ball in the center of it that stays permanently suspended during play, and Archie loves chasing it around our basement. I'm looking forward to experimenting with it and seeing if I can add peanut butter, treats, etc. to encourage his interest in the toy over time, but for now, just watching him run around and nibble on this is so much fun!

Duck Recipe Dog Treats, 4.5 oz.

Arch loves his duck - he's the perfect lab! Like most of Super Chewer's own treats, these smell like human-grade food rather than anything stinky or weird. These smell like jerky, as so many of them do. Arch sat, high-fived, and stayed like an absolute champion for these, and I could tell he really liked them. They were on the firmer side for a treat, and are a nice small size for training.

Howler Growler Toy - Retail Value $14

I cannot STAND how cute this toy is! When I first saw it, it reminded me of an old-timey jug of some sort, but of course, it's a beer growler! Archie absolutely loves this toy, and I really love how different this is from other toys he has. I like the shiny finish, and its irregular shape and light weight create bouncing, unpredictable movement for play. The only regret I have is that I should have removed the string from it that held the tag - Archie ate most of it, like, immediately before I saved the knot from his jaws. *facepalm*

Catfish Recipe Dog Treats, 4 oz.

Catfish is definitely a new ingredient for my doggo! I thought this was a particularly interesting recipe, because it's paired with banana. I know, I know, those two ingredients - together? My first instinct was vomit emoji, too! However, I think the two together really tempered any kind of smell that could have occurred with a treat from the sea - these treats don't smell fishy at all. They're also nice and soft, which makes for a good variety of texture for Archie.

Super Chewer March 2020 Salmon Stick

Simple Salmon Chew - Retail Value $3

We wrap up this box with the second stick for Arch! We've had a salmon chew before, and while Archie certainly doesn't have the most discerning palette, I do think he likes this one in particular. He loves sticks of all kinds, and these are great for breaking up into pieces to use when training or playing in our yard.

Verdict: Every time I think the good folks at Super Chewer have come up with the best theme ever, they go ahead and outdo themselves! "Craft Chewing" was such a perfect theme for our family, and it really cheered us up this month. The toys were both so perfect, both in theme and for Archie's style of play. I love the unbalanced toys with unpredictable movements; they really keep Archie on his paws! I also love that two bags of treats are in every box - we're really focusing on training Arch this month, and we're definitely going to need reinforcements to help him really solidify certain commands. The chews are also great additions to these boxes! It's become a nice tradition for my husband to give them to Archie occasionally when they're spending time together. This box has me beyond ready for warmer weather, brewery patios, and lots of time outside with my husband and our best boy.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will get the April box. Customer Care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

Value Breakdown: At $29/month + free shipping for this box, each of the 6 items has an average cost of $4.83.

Love this! The toys in this box are bigger than my little old man’s head (he’s mostly maltese we think!) but of course I’m reading for the pup pics!

It would be fun to see a pet “Favorites” article with everything the chickens, dogs, and cats of MSA seem to have loved from their respective boxes!

And maybe a kiddo “Favorites” too – anything to keep up the cute factor!
