Leaf + Root Organic Lavender Eye Pillow – Retail Value $18.00

I actually can't think of anything more perfect to arrive right now. I am not someone who generally has trouble sleeping and I still don't, but I have had trouble winding down before bed. It seems like my mind goes crazy places before it is time to sleep! I have started a nightly herbal tea routine which has helped, and this is a perfect addition. I also tossed this into the microwave for about 45 seconds and use it on the back of my neck one night which was so calming and centering.

Verdict: MightyBody sent the most lovely handmade lavender pillow this month. I am so thankful for its arrival! I love that it is handmade in Lousiana by a woman-owned company, and that the materials used were thoughtful: cotton linen, organic flax, and organic lavender. I am loving it.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve been interested in this box because of your reviews and have one question for you before I sign up. I see on their site it says “tell us a little bit about yourself”. Do you feel their algorithm match’s your likes/dislikes?

I honestly don’t remember filling out a questionnaire, but I can tell you that I have used (and loved) every single product I have gotten in the past 2 ish years, with the exception of a Vit C skin product that just didn’t work well with my skin chemistry. Some of my very favorite products have come from this box. Lusa body scrub..heaven in a blue jar 🙂

I love eye pillow and am so addicted now I can’t sleep without one. I’ve even figured out ways to use it when sleeping on my side.

If lavender isn’t something you like, you can get unscented ones. They’re usually harder to find, but definitely worth it!

Oooh how do you keep it on when you sleep on your side? I’m obsessed with my eye pillow but I’m a side sleeper and I have yet to find a way to make it work!

Here are two methods that I use:

1. This works if you have an eye pillow that’s on the larger side – it needs to be substantial enough so that you can stack it into a pillar on your pillow next to you. then press it over so that it now leans onto/lays across your eyes. of course, that only works if you tend to stay in the same position. if that’s not you, then try #2.

2. With a regular size (not oversized as in #1) eye pillow. I use a Manduka yoga headband (see swap site for example of what I mean) over the eye pillow to keep it in place. Those headbands are really the best for this! They really stretch, and they’re not very elastic. So you don’t feel any pressure from the band like you would if it were a strong elastic one trying to shrink back to a smaller size. also, they’re super thin, so you don’t feel like you are laying on a band. And they’re wide enough to cover the whole setup.

btw – If you don’t have an eye pillow, they’re super easy to make. I’m sure there’s lots of instructions on the web. But basically you just pour some dry, uncooked grains, eg rice, or lentils, etc. into a clean (preferably smooth) sock or even pantyhose leg (though I’d probably double up pantyhose fabric and definitely would not microwave that pillow). Leave a bit of room for the grains to move around so they settle across and conform to the shape of your closed eyes when you are laying down. tie off the end.

Does this sub sent the same item to all subscribers each month or is it all different items? Thanks

If the model is the same as the one they seem to use for MightyNest, then they have things sorted out by year and month. That is, when you sub, you get what they have set aside for Year 1, Month 1. Someone who subbed three months prior would be receiving what they send for Year 1, Month 3. If you go back far enough in the reviews, you can get a fairly clear picture of what to expect.

And if they run out of something, they can substitute without worrying about what you might have expected.
