Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2020 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Ipsy Glam Bag April 2020 Review

Included is a card detailing each of the items.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month is so spring appropriate! It is a pale lavender-pink shade with abstract flowers and the cutest wooden zipper pull.

Seraphine Botanicals Berry + Juice 100% Vegan Lip Gel in 'Rose Currant', 0.2 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $19.00

I tend to like this brand, and especially their lip formulas! This is a totally wearable sheer formula, and quite a lovely one at that! It has a pearly shimmer and a pinkish peach base that enhances the natural shade of my lips without going overboard. It is also super hydrating and has a pleasant sweet scent.

Such a pretty shade! I will wear this a lot.

Helios 'Livin' Lovely' Nail Polish, 0.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $12.50

I am such a sucker for a lavender-leaning nail polish. This exactly the sort of shade I already own multiples of, but will keep on buying and wearing forever. It is neutral enough to feel like it goes with anything, but still feels like I am wearing some color on my little stubby nails. Application was a breeze, though I do recommend 2 coats. I am really happy with how fast this dries too.

This shade also matches my Ipsy bag almost perfectly!

AHAVA 24K Gold Mineral Mud Mask, 0.51 fl oz - Estimated Value $20.40 (Buy a full-size 1.7 oz for $68.00, currently on sale for $51.00)

I think I liked this mask as much as I did because I didn't find it drying at all, which is a godsend for my drier skin. It was also fun to have a metallic gold mask on my face and felt very fancy! I applied this generously to my face, let it dry for about 10 minutes, then rinsed it off. It took a little extra effort to rinse away, but left behind smooth and (dare I say) hydrated skin.

Araceli Beauty Chiquita Blending Brush - Retail Value $14.00

I am a brush junkie, and this is a nice addition to my eyeshadow-centric brush collection. The bristles are dense but still soft, made of a very convincing synthetic bristle. I also appreciate the minimal black handle and ferrule.

Thann Oatmeal Face Scrub, 15 g- Estimated Value $6.30 (Buy a full-size 100 g for $42.00)

If you are a reformed St. Ives enthusiast, this is a great alternative for you! It feels really similar in terms of texture, but instead of walnut shells it has apricot seed particles which are non-abrasive and so much better fo your face. It also smells amazing!

Verdict: My Ipsy Glam Bag was pretty well-stocked this month. I calculated a total estimated value of close to $72.20, which is totally awesome for a $12 bag. I am also thrilled with 3 full-size options inside too (I counted the brush in this!). The lip gloss and nail polish are exactly the sort of items and shades I would buy anyways, and I also loved the chance to try out the mask and scrub.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I added on the lip gel I really like how it feels and smells . I also received the nail polish . I put it on yesterday and even though my hands were kinda wet from washing them it still has not chipped . That never happens with me. I put on some Pretty Woman iridescent nail polish on top to give some pizzazz .

I bought the gloss as an add on. I had received it last year and used it up. My bag had another black eyeliner. Went to donations. For the $10 I pay for this bag, it is worth it.

I loved my GB. Love Ipsy.

I like the lip gel, glossier (my choice), and the bag. I won’t use three of the items. Not great as far as matching goes, but I’m okay with the value for what I will use

I actually have grown to love Ipsy it is my favorite box. For the last 4 months my bags have been perfect for me. I can tell they are looking at our beauty profiles.
I am actually thinking of signing up for a higher tier bag.
I think I may make Ipsy my only beauty subscription.
I hope some of the other popular beauty subscriptions take a lesson, and actually look at our beauty profiles.

What a great bag! I actually skipped GB this month, but my Plus and Ultimate were awesome!

I added on the Seraphine gloss and I’m so glad I did! It’s gorgeous, shimmery without any grit or stickiness and smells so yummy!

I also got that nail polish awhile back, but haven’t tried it yet. Now I want to because it looks so pretty on you! Thanks for another great review!

You are so welcome Lori! I hope you like the polish as much as I did 🙂

I was very happy with both my regular Ipsy and my Ultimate. I hadn’t gotten an Ultimate in a while. I usually get Plus or Ultimate depending on spoilers and I get the regular bag every month. I was so impressed with Ipsy this month. I think they’re finally moving in the right direction and gaining some momentum.

And one thing is certain. What I received from Ipsy this month was SO much better than my Boxycharm base and Premium boxes combined. I got the worst variants in both so Ipsy really saved April for me.

I feel like I flip flop between my Boxy and Ipsy month to month in terms of faves. Glad Ipsy was a winner for you this time Dani!

SAME SAME SAME! Omg, my both my Boxycharms were the worst, it felt like SUCH a waste of money, but my Ultimate was my favorite ipsy bag EVER. I hope it continues, especially for Ultimate, because they have been disappointing overall until this month. I agree with you that they seem to be finding their stride and improving based on feedback from subscribers.

Nail polish seems to be the one item IpsyMatch REALLY struggles with! It’s weird how people who really want nail polish seem to rarely get it, & people who don’t want it seem to get it months in a row!

finally..i think ipsy is giving us 12.00 worth of good stuff now…my bag was good this month…and thank goodness I did not get any nail polish…

This is one of my favorite polishes in my stash. I looked at the date I put on my bottle and I received this last April. I have been dating them due to “spoiling” faster without all the ” harmful junk” in the bottle.
Actually a lot of this month’s items I received last year at this time.

Joy-Not the other one

I am so happy about that polish! I received it as well and it’s what I call a “no color color”. Somehow extremely neutral while still giving life. From what I read on most reviews, I seem to be in the minority when it comes to loving to receive polishes. I could get one every month and be happy. The only problem for me has been that when I do receive them they are always a color I can’t pull off. So I am pretty over the moon about this one! I added that lip gel as well and it is so pretty!

Dani

I’m with you. I’d love to get a polish every month. I do get them pretty frequently but somehow I always miss out on the colors I love most. I love any shade of purple/lavender I can get. Unfortunately this was a no polish month for me.

Lori

Agree! I love getting nail polish–I wish they were in add ons!

I was getting them almost every month, then I forgot to review a couple and they stopped sending them. I just reviewed them, so hopefully I will get more going forward. Good luck to you both as well!

I love the bags this month! My products were pretty great too.

I got that gloss like 6 or 7 months ago and was glad to see people try it cause it’s one of my favorites! And I haven’t gotten a nail polish from ipsy in it feels like 2 years. I have it checked to get often. I don’t understand ☹ but loved your whole bag, it was better suited for me than mine lol
