I have had to stop for a while due to COVID related financial reasons. I miss getting the boxes, but reading this reminds how I don’t miss the squabbling.

Liz I think you need to start adding a disclaimer to posts about this box constantly selling out and not being available.

So…I’ve subbed to this box since 2015 and have had to skip at least the past six months if not longer because the new box is no longer available when it opens for me to choose. I’ve bought many things in the shop, too, over the years: market baskets plural, pottery, glassware, stemware, gifts… so yeah I’m salty and no I’m not renewing after I can finally get ANY of the coveted boxes

For the person who said they have been a subscriber for 3 whole months and have been able to get their choice: so you realize how smug you sound? Good for you (sincerely), but just like the others who commented, I also sincerely don’t like the insinuation we are liars.

I have subscribed since January, and I’ve had no problem getting on and getting the box I want. This past month, the boxes weren’t sold out in the beginning, but there was an issue with getting the items in stock because of COVID-19. I’m not sure what people don’t understand on the instructions that GlobeIn sends about how things work. They do lay it all out for you. Also, I am month-to-month so don’t get first dibs on anything, and the months before COVID-19, the featured boxes were all available for a couple days, at least, of add-ons opening, so some of these comments don’t seem to ring 100% true.

Just my 2 cents.

I was a member for six months, and it was awful! My orders were always a few weeks late, there were always broken, defective, or missing items (except one month), and customer service is awful because it takes days to get responses from them. I canceled three months after I joined, but finished out the rest of my subscription. Every month it was worse than the month before. My subscription ended in January, well before we knew about COVID-19, so that excuse isn’t viable. They’ll have new excuses after (when) Covid is over.

For anyone who’s had better luck, good on ya, but don’t even think about implying that others are lying! Globein was the worst experience I ever had with subscription boxes, and online shopping. The last time I checked, they had an F rating with BBB. That doesn’t happen to good companies.

I also have not had many problems getting the box I wanted, but I understand I was lucky. Seeing the featured boxes offered in such limited quantities, I like GlobeIn less and less. I cannot blame a new subscriber for feeling like the victim of a bait-and-switch when GlobeIn fails to mention that the box featured in the MSA spoilers (often the impetus for them signing up) is offered in such extremely limited quantities. This is just disappointingly bad business.

I commented below. I’ve been a subscriber SINCE THEY STARTED SUBS. I know how things work, henny. And I log on the DAY that choices open, sometimes the instant. I’ve been able to get my choice ONCE in many months. This is 100% true, and I resent your accusation, okurrrr?

(I was just released on oxygen from 2 weeks in the hospital fighting severe Covid-19 complications. I set my alarm each month as a GlobeIn reminder, and I even logged in FROM MY HOSPITAL BED and was NOT able to get a newly themed box. Sad.)

It’s nice that you have had good luck with GlobeIn. I think it’s really unfair and unkind to insinuate that the rest of us are lying or exaggerating just because our experiences didn’t match yours. Clearly multiple people have had the same issues with choosing the boxes they want, so there is something amiss with this company and their subscription model. It’s possible they restock throughout the choice window and so you were able to get your choice with no problems, but I can confirm that last month, I checked multiple times throughout the window to see if the options changed, and they didn’t.

I’m very happy for you that you were able to receive all of the boxes that you wanted from GlobeIn. Seems like they have some interesting stuff and when I’ve been able to get my choice, I’ve enjoyed it. I’m sorry that you feel that those of us who were unable to get our choices are not being truthful. However, I am not trying to mislead anyone when I say that the two boxes I wanted (and a third that I thought would be fine) were listed as “sold out” when I logged on at 9AM on the first day when GlobeIn sent out emails to make my selections. It seems that I wasn’t alone in having this experience.

I haven’t been able to get the monthly themed box either, for months, despite setting an alarm to choose first thing each month. Annual subscribers should AUTOMATICALLY receive each month’s box unless they opt out and choose another, not the other way around. What’s the point of buying an annual subscription, when you still have to fight for the monthly box. Very unhappy customers, GlobeIn. Do you hear us?!?

I won’t even go into all the problems I have had over the past months with GlobeIn. Their boxes have been better the past three-four months but I don’t know anybody who got them. At the beginning I thought there was only one box until I received an email saying I would get a “Surprise” box. I really wanted the egg cup and hammer/spoon so I immediately got on line and had “a hissy fit”. I got the box but the egg cup was broken. They were going to give me a credit of $12.00. Never received and saw they had shown in their shop the box for $60 along with the Llama box (which they were out of the first day of sign up). The egg cup box is no longer on the web site but they have some egg cups in reserve and checking to see if I can get one. If not, I am going to notify my charge card company and whatever agency is responsible for monitoring these types of companies. As badly as I want the egg cup, it is more about honesty and fair business practices.

To those confused about GlobeIn … I agree and I will share my experience for anybody who is curious.

I subbed for the llama planter box too. I was tempted by the discount (available with a 3-month sub only), so I subbed for 3 months. The first month, I was able to choose the box with the llama planter, but I also had made sure to stay up until midnight so I could pick the box as soon as choices opened. So far so good; the box came with everything packed well, and I was hoping the next month would have a good theme too OR at least have leftover garden boxes to purchase (because I wanted all four of the garden themed boxes!).

Well, the second month came and I didn’t like any of the new coffee/tea themed boxes, PLUS none of the garden boxes were available, so I had two choices: Instead of a box, opt to get credits to use in their store, or pick another “bestseller” box that was available. I decided to go with the Feast box because it had the most items, including a really pretty table runner that I wanted. I decided not to go with the store credit option because I’d already browsed through the store a few times and think their stuff is SUPER pricey! I know it’s supporting fair trade artists … supposedly … but at this point I wanted to just get my sub over with and not worry about racking up credits and then not be able to find anything I liked to spend them on.

This past month was my last month, and I again was up at midnight to choose the box I wanted. Even MINUTES after midnight, one of the boxes was already sold out! Fortunately the one I wanted was still available, but it was shocking to me that one was unavailable already. I am still waiting to receive the box, but I’ve already cancelled my renewal so I’m glad to be done with GlobeIn. Some of their products are nice, but overall I don’t think their stuff is THAT unique (which is supposed to be part of their appeal), and stuff sells out way too quickly. I also hate that there are four new boxes each month that fit with the new theme, but spoilers are only announced for one main box. However, sometimes you can see an ad on FB or IG that is showing all the upcoming boxes, which is how I was able to thoughtfully choose a box this last month. Also, their photos announcing the new theme/spoilers usually shows items from all the boxes (but not necessarily all the items), so you can kind of get a hint from those.

TL;DR – GlobeIn is confusing and not worth the money OR the hassle of choosing a box at midnight. I regret subbing for 3 months and am glad my experience is over!

I agree. I didn’t wait to choose my box for last month and by the time I got there about all of them were waitlisted or sold out. I have also noticed that some of the pottery I have gotten is starting to mold which means it is not fired right or food safe. I make pottery so I know how that works. Thinking of cancelling.

Jennifer

I subbed a while ago so no problems getting the box I wanted, but I also cancelled due to poor quality on some items. One enamel bowl chipped before I even used it and my husband specifically called out the “cheap” new kitchen item I had got. And a clay tea-cup not only was out of alignment/sits wonky on it’s plate like the leaning Tower of Pisa, but it wasn’t sealed right so I can’t get it wet without water getting under the glaze. Basically it’s a wonky display piece now.

Amy in KC

Interesting about the pottery! That is a shame.

Angela

This is almost exactly my experience. I had my eye on Globein for years but only subbed for the first time for the llama box. I woke up at 3am to ensure that I got it. Shipping was very late for that month, especially considering I didn’t get any add one. I’d already chosen my next box before the first box arrived. I did love the llama box and all the contents.

Unfortunately I don’t drink tea or coffee and the next month was a complete pass for me. I ordered the feast box instead because I liked the salt and pepper shakers. Everything in that box was nice, but I was disappointed at the supposed value.

Then for this month, I saw a preview of all the boxes on Instagram and I liked the lead one the best- with the bag and water bottle. I was again up at 3am but it had already sold out. My second favorite, the one with the gold plate and jewelry, had also sold out. As well as the one with the foot scrubber thing. 3 of 4 boxes sold out by 3am. Tons of add ons were also sold out. I’m getting a Bathe box just to get something, to finish my subscription and be done with it.

So…. Buyer beware.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience too, but am glad I am not alone! I was able to get the box with the gold plate and jewelry, but I think I must have gotten lucky and claimed one of the last ones.

Joyce

I too have heard that you usually don’t get to pick the leader item. I wanted that wicker tote and scarf so badly but didn’t place an order cause I knew I wouldn’t get that one.

That description really doesn’t seem to match the items pictured…. I do like the hanging basket, though. I have a tiny kitchen with no counter space and can use all the vertical storage I can get.

I admit to still being a confused about how GlobeIn works. I’ve been tempted to sub before, but it seems a lot of first-time subscribers don’t actually get the spoilers pictured? I know a lot of folks subbed to get that llama planter in February and then didn’t have the option to choose that particular box. I’m wary of a bait and switch.

Beth

Yes, it can be confusing. But the only thing to remember is that you must (***Even for your very first box***) go into your account sometime between the 1st and 10th of the month and select which box you want. Earlier is much better especially if it is a popular box, like the llama one.

I subbed specifically in response to the ads for the llama box. Luckily, I had anticipated wanting to add on some items and so I had logged into my account during the choice period. when I did that, I saw that I was down for a mystery box instead of the llama one! It was super easy to correct, but I think most new subscribers don’t realize they need to do that for their first box (as well as all the others.) globein says this on their site, but i think they don’t make it clear enough that you must do that for your FIRST box.

If you keep that in mind, you’ll have no problem at all with them. I subbed to them for years, then lapsed and recently restarted. They are a great company, with excellent products, and doing a lot of good.

According to the spoilers online, The prep box will include the fruit hanger, the colander, cutting board and one of those ceramic strawberry baskets.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

The colander is darling. How many cutting boards do we need??????????

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

Confused. If it’s about the bedroom and the home office, like the text claims, then why a picture of the kitchen? And I hope it’s not that ugly hanging thing that the pineapple is in.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

They have been having about 4 new themes a month. This is only one of them?

Reply ButtonReply

Cassie

Yes- it seems like this is going to be that one box they highlight for the month. There should be three others matching the theme

Mary

I’m guessing there is a 100% chance that the hanging basket is in the box. 😉

As for other items, maybe the apron? I like the colander but bet that’s not part of it.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

The spoilers in the FB group seemed to indicate the hanging sari basket thing, colander, cutting board and a little ceramic dish that looks like those cardboard berry baskets.

Rebecca

Perhaps the cutting board.

Cassie

Idk on a spoiler the colander was showed separately so I bet it is

Ashleigh

Their spoilers tend to be confusing. Last time it was about knowing where your clothing was made, but the lead box (which sold out almost immediately) was a bag and water bottle.

Actually, to my knowledge the new box for March was never offered on their site due to supplier problems related to the virus.
