Animal Trackers Club Review - April 2020
Before we get started on the contents of this shipment, I wanted to highlight a few items that we received in our Introductory Box that we also used for this month.
Please note the following items did NOT come in this box:
Animal Trackers Lunchbox
We received this cute tin lunchbox featuring Bode Bear and the Animal Trackers logo which is perfect for storing all of our animal gear each month as we collect it. It will also double as a place to play with our animal magnets!
Animal Tracks Card Ring
This is our Animal Tracks card ring. Each month we will receive an animal photo and track card that we can add to this ring as we discover new animals.
Animal Coloring Card
This animal coloring card will be used to track which animals we've already explored and which are still to come!
Now let's see what we received this month!
We received this colored photograph of a giraffe with a picture of what its tracks look like on the back of our card. It is printed on thicker cardstock and has a hole at the top corner for us to easily add this to our Animal Tracks ring.
We also received a cute giraffe magnet to add to our lunchbox. Since this is his second magnet, he had fun playing with it along with the zebra magnet he received last month!
My son's favorite item was this giraffe figurine. It is made out of durable plastic with a lot of detail and realistic features. The size is perfect, too! Not so small that he will lose it, but still small enough that he can take it with him for play and store it in his lunchbox.
He started playing with this right away and he keeps it on his nightstand beside his bed with his zebra from last month because "they are very special to me" he says.
We also received this fun giraffe mask made of foam.
Both of my boys had fun trying this one on!
We received this thicker half sheet of paper with some fun giraffe facts on it. My son loves learning about animals and he really likes looking at the colorful pictures. He was surprised to find out that a female giraffe is called a cow and a baby is called a calf, just like with cows. This sheet is also the perfect size to store in his lunchbox which is great for keeping it all together!
They included three educational worksheets for us this month. The first was counting the various shapes within this giraffe picture and the other two had to do with learning about the two sounds the letter G can make.
We usually share these with his older sister since he is a bit young for some of it, but I love that they include these worksheets that are related to the animals. It's an easy way to get them engaged in a learning activity without them even realizing it!
This month's activity was a fun set of three scratch-art sheets. These were made just for this box and two of them had some fun animals while the third featured Bode the Bear.
My kids love scratchers like this so he was excited to have three sheets of his own to complete. It's a great fine motor activity for him too, since he is still working on pre-writing skills!
Verdict: I think that Animal Trackers Club is a great box for my son. There is a little bit of learning, a little bit of fun, and the added excitement of getting a package in the mail all at the relatively inexpensive cost of $16.95 ($13.95 + $3.00 shipping). He gets a few great collectibles and a couple of activities all centered on an animal which brings a smile to his face each month and fosters his love of animals! This is a great no-frills, low-key box that doesn't require any planning or clean up, which can add some value as well!
