Animal Trackers Club Review - March 2020

Before we get started on the contents of this shipment, I wanted to highlight a few items that we received in our Introductory Box that we also used for this month.

Please note the following items did NOT come in this box:

Animal Trackers Lunchbox

We received this cute tin lunchbox featuring Bode Bear and the Animal Trackers logo which is perfect for storing all of our animal gear each month as we collect it. It will also double as a place to play with our animal magnets!

Animal Tracks Card Ring

This is our Animal Tracks card ring. Each month we will receive an animal photo and track card that we can add to this ring as we discover new animals.

Animal Coloring Card

This animal coloring card will be used to track which animals we've already explored and which are still to come!

Now let's see what we received this month!

My son was eager to see what animal was inside! He immediately asked for black and white crayons so that he could mark off the zebra on his animal coloring card.

We received this colored photograph of a zebra with a picture of what it tracks look like on the back of our card. It had a hole at the top corner for us to easily add this to our Animal Tracks ring and was printed on thicker cardstock.

We also received a zebra magnet which is a nice size and very detailed, to add to our lunchbox. Once we get a few more animals, I know he will have a great time playing with them!

The most exciting item to him, of course, was this zebra figurine! He has SO many animals but actually does not have any zebras so he has been playing with this one non-stop since he opened his box. The zebra is really the perfect size, it's not too large nor is it so tiny that I worry about him losing it. It is solid plastic, feels durable and I think the detail on it is pretty good!

Here you can see it in his hands. It fits right inside his lunchbox, too!

The last piece of zebra gear is this foam zebra mask.

This was a pretty cute inclusion and a fun one, too!

Once we sorted through all of our zebra goodies, we read some zebra facts. I thought this was a cute little sheet and the pictures made it easy for my son to follow along with. Since it is smaller in size, he can store this in his lunchbox as well. I love being able to keep it all in one place! Less clutter and built-in organization is a nice bonus!

They also included a few worksheets for us. I do have one complaint, albeit a small one - all of our items arrived in a padded envelope which means our worksheets were a little wrinkled and bent. It's definitely not a huge deal, but maybe using a thicker stock of paper could have eliminated this issue?

My son was able to complete the numbered worksheet with my help. He had to add however many stripes were listed at the top. This is great for beginning readers and identifying numbers since they used both words and numbers on this one.

My daughter wanted in on the action and since this was a bit above my son's level, we let her complete the second worksheet. This was matching upper and lowercase letters in the first two columns and then matching beginning sounds from pictures to words in the second. Another great practice sheet!

They also included a fun and simple craft for us and actually included two sheets so that both my son and daughter could complete them. They provided a zebra template along with black and white Magic Nuudles to create a zebra picture. Magic Nuudles are really cool and you simply get them a tad wet to make them sticky.

This was a great fine motor activity for my son!

They were pretty proud of their zebras when they finished!

Verdict:  I can't decide how I feel about the value that we received in this $16.95 ($13.95 + $3.00 shipping) box. We received a zebra figurine, a mask, an animal tracks card, an animal facts card, a zebra magnet, two worksheets, and one craft with enough supplies for two kids, so I think that the cost is probably pretty fair when you break it down that way. While my son really enjoyed the items he received in his Animal Trackers Club box, I think he was hoping for just one more activity in it! Maybe even just a zebra coloring sheet and two crayons would have been enough? Don't get me wrong - I really love this box and the idea of it, and my son was thrilled with it, but I think both of us just wanted to extend the experience a bit further!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, although you would start with the introductory box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Great review. Thanks Brandi!

I wonder if they would ever offer a box of animals kids might actually track – with bird, cat, dog prints, etc…

Thanks, Beth! As of right now, it looks like they just have the Savannah box, so no trackable animals here, but that is a great idea! My son would definitely love that! 🙂
