Your Bijoux Box March 2020 Review

We received this card explaining how our subscription works with a code for a free piece of jewelry. Our jewelry came in these beautiful green satin bags, fitting for March! This month subscribers had a choice between two different necklaces and the curator, Shana, was kind enough to send both for you to see! Let's check out the items that everyone will receive first.

Pave Freshwater Pearl Ring

Our first piece this month is a beautiful freshwater pearl ring surrounded by pave cubic zirconia crystals. I love the mix of pearl and crystal for a timeless look. The pearl itself is rather large at 10mm and the juxtaposition of the tiny crystals surrounding it is very pretty! This is a statement piece for sure and very attention-grabbing (I've already received compliments on it). The sterling silver band is actually adjustable from sizes 5-10, too.

Here it is on. I thought they did a nice job with the adjustable feature and how you can't tell from the top of the ring. While definitely a bit bulky (which is also part of its charm), it is comfortable to wear. I did have to flip it around though and have the thicker bar of the adjustable part on the bottom to make it more comfortable against my finger though.

Freshwater Pearl Stud Earrings

The next item is this pair of beautiful cultured freshwater pearl studs measuring 8-9mm with sterling silver posts. I used to wear pearl earrings daily and have had a few nice pairs over the years, but always seemed to lose just one earring. Once I had kids, I stopped wearing them because babies love to grab those shiny little pearls right out of your ears! Now that my kiddos are older I am excited to have a nice new pair of pearls to wear! These are another classic staple item for a jewelry collection and I love the size and shape.

Sorry, the photos are a bit dark, but hopefully, you can get a feel for the size in my ears!

They match our ring perfectly and make for such a nice, timeless set altogether! Now let's see check out our necklace options are.

Necklace Option 1:

Dancing Pearl Necklace

Our first necklace features two shorter layers of "dancing" pearls. These baroque freshwater pearls have little crystal beads strung between them for even more sparkle and they complement the shiny pearls perfectly. This necklace measures about 19 inches and would look great with a high collar top!

I had some trouble getting the pearls to lay right on my neck since the two strands are about even in length, and I will probably need to adjust it a bit next time before I am happy with how it lays! While the elegance of the pearls and the shorter length gives this a dressier look, I also feel like it has a bit of a beachy vibe too and might work well with a long floral maxi dress in the summer! I think it's a bit more versatile than it first seems.

It goes nicely with our earrings and ring, even though the tone is a bit more yellow in color, the shinier areas of the necklace have more white to them which is brought out by the lighter colors in the earrings and ring.

Necklace Option 2:

Green Garnet and Amethyst Strand

Our second necklace is more my style, personally. From the spoilers I thought maybe it would feel a bit too handmade for my tastes, but in person, I think it is a really beautiful strand of pearls and stones! I love how the green garnet and purple amethysts feel so appropriate for March and spring and they mimic sea glass when next to these 7mm white pearls. The strand is 31 inches long and it is hand-knotted.

It is much more dainty and elegant looking in person! It also feels like another versatile necklace that could be worn with more casual clothing options thanks to the fun pops of color.

This one goes even better with our earrings and necklace, in my opinion!

Smart Clasp

Our gift this month is pretty unique and perfect for a jewelry subscription. This little clasp can attach to a long necklace to shorten it and turn it into a layered necklace.

Here you can see it in action with our garnet and amethyst strand necklace. This was cutting it close lengthwise for me to get it around twice, but I could see this working very well for a longer necklace!

Here are the two collection options subscribers could have received. Which necklace would you have chosen?

The Verdict: You may be thinking, wasn't last month's Your Bijoux Box filled with pearls, too? While this is true, I feel like these were two very different collections and I really loved the timeless and classic pieces in this month's box which I feel could easily be mixed in with some of February's pieces as well! The ring and earrings were my favorite pieces because I know I will get so much use out of them as simple, but beautiful accent pieces and both of the necklaces were really fun choices that coordinated well with them. I was surprised at how much I loved the green garnet and amethyst strand in person! I also thought the smart clasp was a great, innovative item that made perfect sense in this subscription. I would have gladly paid the $39.99 (with free shipping) cost of this box for the ring and earrings alone, so I think it is definitely worth it for three beautiful freshwater pearl pieces!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This box is still available, but hurry—quantities are limited!

Value Breakdown: For $39.99 with free shipping for this box, you are paying approximately $10.00 per item (keep in mind, subscribers only got to choose one of the two necklaces!).

Beautiful high quality pieces! I’m impressed with the pearls and love seeing real silver pieces. I can’t really pick a favorite from my box. Possibly the ring because I don’t have anything like it 🙂 I like that I can adjust it for any finger.

I cannot believe how cheap this stuff looks. Had to scroll up to see if this was a $20 box only to find that it’s a $40 box. Adjustable ring? That’s gumball machine quality.

Sorry, no way would I ever sub to this box if this is representative of what passes for jewelry for them.

I know! My very first thought when I saw it described as beautiful was, “What???
You can get similar or better pieces from gum ball machines or those little jewelry trays sitting at the register at gas stations/rest stops. That band gives it away. It truly does look exactly like the ones that come in a plastic egg I got as a kid.

Plain pearl studs? Anyone who likes those surely already owns at least one pair. And those necklaces? One reminds me of teeth or reject/deformed beads and the other just looks so cheap and uninspired. It reminds me of a necklace you’d find in a child’s jewelry making kit.

As for the ring/clasp bonus, I’m almost 45 and I don’t remember ever seeing those. Although I admit I don’t have the best memory. I have to credit them for releasing spoilers in time to skip or cancel. I’d be so mad if I paid $40+ for these pieces. They used to have much better jewelry. Sure the boxes were fairly hit or miss, but they always had at least one good and/or stylishly unique piece.

OMG…those clasp things were the bomb in the 80s! You would buy a few long strands of beads in whatever color combo you liked, then twist them, double them up, and use the clasp to make a twisted choker (a little longer than an actual choker) in your personalized colors. this came about 2 years after the ribbon/barette thing. Those of you over 40 will remember!

Is the name wrong on the earrings? I like them, whatever they’re called!
