The Box By Fashionsta is a monthly beauty box brought to you by online beauty store, Fashionsta, for $24.99/month with free shipping. Each box will include 5-7 full-size makeup, skincare, and other self-care products. They seem to focus on smaller indie brands that may be new to you, so it's a great way to discover companies that haven't blown up in popularity yet. They also have The Box For Men ($29.99/month) as well as a mystery box that costs $40 as an add-on with a subscription or $50 as a one-time purchase.

The Box By Fashionsta February 2020 Review

The Box By Fashionsta comes with a simple info card that gives a short description of each included product with their retail value. The other side of the card welcomes us into a new decade and explains how they are working hard to speed up fulfillment timing to get boxes to us faster.

NCLA Beauty Sugar. Sugar Watermelon Lip Scrub⁣⁣, 0.5 fl oz - Retail Value $16.00

I cannot get enough lip scrubs, especially in this chappy season. This is the first one I've seen with a dark pigment although it doesn't stick around after the scrubbing is over. This watermelon scrub has a great grit-to-balm ratio and really feels nice on my lips. So little of it is needed which means this small jar will last quite a while. The scent is really sweet like watermelon gummies, too.

BeBella Cosmetics Champagne Kisses I Palette⁣⁣ - Retail Value $17.99

This is an intense amount of eyeshadow in one palette! While swatching, I noticed that the darker of the 16 colors came out a little blotchy while the metallics were smooth and pigmented. There are many different neutral base tones here as well as some darker shading tones and a few pops of color like brighter oranges and some purples. At first, I was a little put off by the size of each pan, but it's pretty close to the size of a brush that I'd sweep across them so I've settled in. As far as blending, this palette is sort of a mixed bag. Like the swatches, some color just didn't want to blend out (like the orangey "Vintage") while others were beautiful (like the plum "Cabernet"). I definitely would prefer fewer colors that all had solid pigment and blending to a larger one with spottiness, but there are some great ones in here. There's also a nice size mirror in this palette as well which is always nice to see.

Here are the 16 swatches from the palette!

Double Dare Jet Super Hydrating Skin Care⁣⁣ - Retail Value $38.00

I always enjoy seeing K-Beauty in beauty subscriptions that aren't necessarily K-Beauty focused. This serum from Double Dare is made with cactus fruit and hyaluronic acid and can be used in place of both a toner and a moisturizer to save a step in my routine. Milky opaque white in appearance, the serum absorbs slowly and feels quite moisturizing. It has a slight botanical fragrance to it that I'm on the fence about and although it has a slightly tacky feel to it as sinks into my skin, it does make it feel plump in the meantime.

REALHER Makeup You Are Brilliant Blush Palette⁣⁣ - Retail Value $38.00

REALHER is a brand that pops up a lot in subscription boxes so I'm not surprised to see her here. The packaging always has uplifting messages on it while the products and names follow suit. This 6-color blush palette is called "YOU ARE BRILLIANT" and has a mix of matte and soft metallic pink, peach, and brown tones called Genuine, Passionate, Confident, Compassionate, Visionary, and Social. All things that are positives attributes for anyone. The palette also has a generous mirror that takes up the entire lid and allows me to apply the blush without having to hold it so close to my face to see. Even the lightest color (Social) has great pigment that stays all day. Very impressed!

Here are the swatches for the blush palette.

REALHER Makeup Matte Lipstick in I Am the Best - Estimated Value $18.00 (similar linked)

Another item from REALHER is this matte lipstick in the color "I AM THE BEST." It's a rich red rose color that makes my lips feel extremely hydrated while making them look glamorous. I actually forgot I was wearing this lipstick after an hour or so of it on which means it's super lightweight and doesn't feel cakey at all. The pigment is really poppin' and I'm loving this creamy formula!

Z Skin Cosmetics Nighttime Eye Creme, 1 fl oz⁣⁣ - Retail Value $24.00

I don't think I'm familiar with Z Skin, so this organic brand is new to me. Their eye cream is packed full of great organic ingredients like chamomile, spirulina, white willow, coconut, ashwagandha, and turmeric to name a few. It has a super pleasant light scent and the formula is thick yet feels like without any sort of greasy residue. I can immediately feel a difference in my skin after dabbing this under my eyes, but per usual, it will take time to see results. For now, it's hydrating, soothing, and made with awesome stuff.

Here are the swatches for the REALHER lipstick and the NCLA Beauty lip scrub.

Verdict: I enjoyed my third delivery from The Box By Fashionsta. The lip scrub and lipstick are probably my favorites (no surprise there) with the blush palette right behind them. I have mixed feelings on the eyeshadow palette but the serum and eye cream are both pretty nice. If I'm going to receive two palettes in a box, I'm glad that one was blush with the other being for eyes. I was only familiar with one of the brands (REALHER) and liked both of the products, so it's a decent mix of names I have to discover. This box has a retail value of $151.99 which is incredible for a $24.99 box. I'm still waiting for my mystery box, but it should be on its way!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your box will ship within 1-3 weeks from the payment processing date, so you'll likely start with the March or April box. It's best to reach out to customer service and ask!

  • Lip Scrub: $2.63
  • Eye Shadow Palette: $2.96
  • Serum: $6.25

Just FYI -Cali was put on a statewide lock down yesterday for anything but essential tasks. Since the box headquarters and fulfillment center is located in downtown LA and certainly is not considered essential, they were forced to halt shipments and boxes immediately. Please know that this is beyond their control. Living in Northern Cali , where we have been in lock down since Monday, I can tell you that this has been very difficult for all of us…but, especially for small business and service workers. If you are financially able to, please continue to support whatever services and small businesses that have made your life easier or more pleasurable in the past because they are ones who are at risk of having to shutter their doors permanently.

Other than really wanting to play with the spoilers and so feeling the wait even more i’m over all the complaining about how long the box takes. If you’re subscribed to it for over a month you do get a box a month pretty much and it’s always worth it. I got a teami detox green tea mask instead if the. Lush palette and have been running around the apartment pretending to be hulled out. Not to mention it feels awesome.

On a side not in the shadow swatches I thought you circled one of the shadows and couldn’t figure out why till I saw it was the top of your tattoo. 😆

I like the swatches of blush shades. I have had Z skin in some boxes a few years ago. It was a facial coffee scrub which I preferred to use on the body. I think I had a face cream of some sort as well.
I did not get this box. I think it sold out before I could get it. Seems like an awesome value.
