March 2020 Target Beauty Box "Dermatologist Trusted Skincare" Review
This month’s box is all about turning to the experts for sun protection, eye care, and healthy hydration.
This info card provides a short description of each item sampled and on the flip side a Target coupon good for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more. This month I received an in-store coupon that also includes a promo code you can redeem online.
Moving on to Target Beauty Box March's skincare picks!
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Rehydrating Cream, 0.51 oz - Estimated Value $9.50 (Buy 1.69 oz for $31.49)
Typically I don't care for skincare with fragrance in it, but this moisturizer is a gem. I have had a lot of luck with Vichy skincare items and even bought a few items that Target Beauty Boxes have introduced me to. This cream has a rich texture, and it feels luxuriously hydrating without feeling oily or waxy. My skin soaked this up immediately; I woke up with my face looking fresh and my skin plumped.
Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying & Hydrating Daily Skin Booster
Vichy Mineral 89 Eyes Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel Cream
I have tried this duo, thanks to Target Beauty Box, and I have bought each product several times. The Skin Booster is a clear, wet formula that boosts hydration; this water-like gel is so easy to spread across your face without using a ton of product or rubbing too hard. Hyaluronic acid soaks into your skin almost immediately, and you’re left with baby soft, glowing skin! It is crazy the difference this product has made on my naturally dry skin.
Vichy Eye Fortifier has the same consistency, although it is a bit heavier with a milkier appearance. I like the hydration this provided, and it is the perfect eye product to wear under makeup, especially when your undereye has a lot of creases but desperately needs the moisture.
CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, 0.08 oz - Estimated Value $1.73 (Buy 0.5 oz for $10.79)
I bought this in the past, and I remember really enjoying it as a nighttime eye cream. It is a thick cream; a little bit goes a long way. It helped plump the creases on my eyes overnight, which helps makeup on the skin look a lot more natural. This helped to slightly depuff this new mom's eyes after a dismal attempt for a night's sleep, which I was very thankful for!
CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion, 0.17 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.76 (Buy 3 oz for $13.49)
I really like most of CeraVe's products, including this daytime moisturizer. SPF is so important to prevent premature aging, so I load my face, neck and hands up with at least SPF 20 every day before heading out the door. I applied this SPF 30 on top of my normal moisturizer, and it felt light on my skin, leaving no greasy residue or detectible white cast behind.
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.47 (Buy 16 oz for $14.99)
My skin is neither normal nor oily, so this foaming cleanser simply didn't work for me. I always reach for cream cleansers because they are the best option for dry skin, but I was pleasantly surprised this gentle cleanser didn't give my face that tight, uncomfortable feeling I hate in most foaming washes. It is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic for those with acne-prone skin. It didn't break down my makeup, but I usually use micellar water before I cleanse, anyway.
La Roche-Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.55 (Buy 13.52 oz for $14.99)
This cleanser was the most exciting find for me from this box. It is a challenge to find a facial wash that is unscented, gentle and is a match for dry skin, but this cream cleanser checks all the boxes for me. It felt lovely on my dry skin, and when I rinsed it off, it left my face feeling hydrated without leaving a filmy residue, which is something I find a lot of cream cleansers do.
La Roche-Posay Tinted Broad Spectrum SPF 50, 0.1 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.75 (Buy 4 oz for $29.99)
I wasn't expecting a tinted face product in this box, but I was stoked to try this SPF when I saw it. I love tinted moisturizers with SPF for an easy one-step, natural makeup day; this particular product feels like silk on the skin! The universal tint works for my complexion, but I'm not sure how anyone with darker skin would get on with it. It has broad-spectrum SPF 50, and is a water-resistant, non-greasy formula—a total win!
Verdict: Target Beauty Box is really on a roll! The brands in this month's box are some of my all-time skincare favorites, so I was thrilled to try everything, even if the samples were a bit small (which I am used to with skincare, especially). This box is such a great way to stock up on travel essentials, and I love seeing the different products and brands Target has to offer. The value of this box is $13.76, almost double the $7 box cost (which includes free shipping).
