February 2020 Petit Vour "Best of 2019" Box Review
Joséphine Cosmetics Eye/Define Natural Waterproof Graphic Eyeliner in Jolie Black, 0.10 oz - Retail Value $25
I know not everyone loves getting black eyeliner in a subscription box, but I actually enjoy getting liquid eyeliners that I can test out and have handy. This had a great inky-black pigment that was smudge- and sweat-proof once it set, and I was able to get a pretty satisfactory cat eye using this. I wish the tip was a bit longer and more flexible, but those changes would just turn a great eyeliner into a holy grail one for me.
Harvest Natural Beauty Lengthening Organic Mascara in Black, 0.25 oz - Retail Value $18
This mascara performed really well for me! Made with chamomile and vitamin E to nourish lashes, I was able to get good separation and definition on my lashes while adding some volume that made my eyes look more open. This was a great mascara to pair with the eyeliner in the box, and you can see me wearing it below.
Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil, 3.7 mL - Retail Value $20
This is a 100% cruelty-free and vegan oil made from plums with no other added ingredients or fillers. Plum oil has several antioxidants (which is great for fighting damage from pollution and other environmental stressors), and this is an oil that’s great for dry, sensitive skin. I only needed two drops to cover the dry skin on my cheeks and jawline, and it felt richly nourishing without being greasy. I do recommend using this as the last step in your nighttime routine (your mileage may vary if you try it out under makeup), but I did enjoy this.
French Girl Lait De Rose Vitamin C Polishing Wash, 0.85 oz - Estimated Value $24 (Buy the 1.35 oz version for $40)
This is an exfoliating treatment designed to be used 1-3 times a week and is made with a host of beneficial ingredients like Kakadu plum, kaolin clay, aloe, bamboo, and watermelon fruit extract. I use physical exfoliants very sparingly, and this wasn’t overly harsh when I used it; it left my face feeling very smooth. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think this would also work well as a mask when mixed with a few drops of the plum oil for maximum antioxidants and to balance the dryness the kaolin clay can cause.
Jane Iredale LipDrink® Lip Balm SPF15 in Flirt, 0.14 oz - Retail Value $17
Sunburned lips are genuinely the worst, so I am always happy to see SPF lip balms in subscription boxes. I love Jane Iredale, and this light pink lip balm gives a sheer wash of color while also nourishing your lips thanks to the carrot seed oil, avocado oil, lotus flower extract, aloe, and green tea.
Here it is swatched above the eyeliner.
And here I am wearing it on my lips along with the eyeliner and mascara from the box.
Verdict: I think this was a great box full of good-quality products, and the fact that all of the items are vegan and cruelty-free is the icing on the cake. The eyeliner and mascara combo in particular really impressed me- I did my makeup and went to work and then the gym for a good sweat session, and the two had barely budged after a solid hour of working out. Value-wise, everything in this box adds up to $94, which is almost double the cost of the box.
