Cocotique “Self-Care Must Haves” March 2020 Review

Card Front for Cocotique March 2020

This month’s Cocotique box is the "Self-Care Must Haves" edition, featuring the “Papaya Castor” collection from Eden BodyWorks.

The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Bonus Item: Canvas Tote

The box also comes with a reusable tote bag each month. I love this element! I think it is commendable when brands promote less-waste options.

Papaya Castor Scalp Massaging Serum, 59 mL - Retail Value $9.25

The serum has a delicious tropical fruit smell! Packed with vitamins A, C, D, and E, this serum really soothes a dry, irritated scalp. The narrow cap is great for easy and precise application. I love this product; I'm always looking for solutions to my dry scalp whether I'm wearing my hair natural or in a protective style.

Papaya Castor Foam Conditioner, 8 fl oz - Retail Value $9.25

This foaming conditioner also smells amazing! The fun foaming texture is unlike any other leave-in conditioner I’ve ever tried. This unique formula gets the conditioner on every strand of your curl. It definitely made an impact on my frizz levels.

Papaya Castor Scalp Cleanser, 12 fl oz - Retail Value $9.25

This scalp cleanser has a very gentle exfoliant that leaves your hair and scalp feeling squeaky clean. It lathers up very nicely and removes product build-up like a dream. The fruity tropical smell is consistent with the conditioner and serum.

Papaya Castor Nourishing Curl Jam, 2 oz - Estimated Value $2.32 (Buy a full-size 8 oz for $9.25)

This curl jam also has a fruity fun summer scent. It reminded me of a tropical fruit punch I used to drink as a kid. Applying it to your curls after washing gives a light hold that helps your curls stay tight. The moisturizing benefits are just a plus, and with such a reasonable retail price, this is something I will definitely use again.

Papaya Castor Conditioning Hairdress, 2 oz - Estimated Value $2.32 (Buy a full-size 8 oz for $9.25)

This is a very unique product. The texture reminds me of a lip balm - but for your hair. It smells absolutely amazing, and when put on to your curls it gives them a nice shine while nourishing and holding in moisture. I’m excited to continue using this!

Dove Body Wash Mousse with Argan Oil, 10.3 oz - Retail Value $5.99

The argan oil gives this body wash a very natural scent. The product comes out as a thick, rich mousse that you can lather all over your body. I myself am not a huge fan of Dove products, and like other Dove products I’ve tried, this one seems to leave behind a film that just won’t wash off. However, my mom loves Dove, so I’ll be passing this along to her.

Artisan Color Baked Blush Swatch for Cocotique March 2020

Artisan Color Baked Blush in Raspberry, 0.1 oz - Retail Value $5.49

This blush is rich and highly pigmented. It had a very smooth, almost creamy texture when I swatched it. It is quite a deep, bright tone for my skin color. Someone with darker, rich chocolate-colored skin would probably get more use out of this product than myself.

Black Radiance Lipstick Swatch for Cocotique March 2020

Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color in Boss Brown - Retail Value $2.29

A rich brown, this lipstick has quite a nice formula that feels moisturizing on the lips. I’m not a huge lipstick-wearer; I prefer chapstick or to smear on some Vaseline, but if you prefer a pigmented pout, you may enjoy this one.

Mōda Pro Buffer Brush - Retail Value $7.99

I love Mōda brushes, and this buffer brush does not disappoint. The bristles are incredibly soft and densely packed for smooth, even application. It works great with wet and dry products. I love the textured handle for easy grip.

ABSOLUTE NY Fablashes (Natural) ELFL15 - Retail Value $3.99

These feather-light, very natural-looking falsies are beautiful. They look like you can get a couple of wears from a single pair. The brand highlights that the product is cruelty-free and vegan, which I appreciate from a lash brand. These subtle, natural lashes are great for everyday use or to add some definition for a photoshoot or event.

Nabia Pearl Face Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3.00

I love sheet masks and am super excited to get this. The Nabia pearl sheet mask has a great cling and stays on your face so that you can do other things while waiting for the serum to absorb. It leaves your skin looking radiant and feeling hydrated.

The Verdict: I love how this Cocotique March 2020 box came with a full hair care kit from Eden BodyWorks. I love the foaming conditioner, scalp cleanser, scalp serum, nourishing curl jam, and conditioning hairdress. Using these products together, I saw a greater impact in my curls. I also enjoy that the scent was similar across the board. When applying other products from multiple brands, I sometimes find all the intermingling scents nauseating. When it comes to the blush, the lipstick, and the eyelashes, those are all things I could do without, but I will eventually use the lashes and pass the lipstick and blush on to a friend. The Mōda brush was an exciting little addition to the box; because who doesn’t enjoy a good brush? And I can always use another sheet mask. Last but not least, the Dove mousse, even though it wasn’t something I enjoy, I know my mother will be happy to have it. The estimated total value of this box is $61.14. The monthly cost of the box is $25 per month plus free shipping, making the amount you pay for each item of the 11 items about $2.27. I think that is a great deal and I love how this box sends something for your skin, makeup products, and a complete hair system. I think the variety is great, and especially with everything going on now, it may be ideal to have everything you need for your skin, body, and hair care come right to your front door. If I wasn’t a fan of Cocotique before, I certainly am now!

To Wrap Up:

I got the Suave Naturals line in my box and was much happier to receive that instead. I wonder if it’s because I’m subbed thru Amazon 🤔?
The value is definitely there for the box, but back to back to back entire haircare systems seems a bit much. But I’m looking forward to the Dove naturals line in April that was recently spoiled.

I think the value is there but my experience made me decide to spend my money elsewhere. My second month subscription I get an email from Cocotiue teliing me my package had shipped. I click on the tracking link and it says my package was delivered 2 days BEFORE the email alert. Well, I was home that day and never saw a package so I reached out,

I was told that my package was insured so hit up USPS and I can totally buy the box when USPS issues my refund. Yay, I was totally stoked about that “not our problem” response. Thanks for the help and the late email alerts Cocotique, I honestly think the value is there but I unsubscribed.
