FaceTory 7 Lux January 2020 Review

Now on to the masks!

Make P:rem Comfort Me Air Mask - Listed Value $4.00

This mask did indeed feel light as air! The serum was super hydrating immediately and for the rest of the day thanks to a healthy dose of ceramides. It is said to mimic an oxygen facial at home, but I have never had an oxygen facial so I am not sure how accurate that description is. What I can say is that this was a great mid-afternoon weekend pick me up!

ID. Placosmetics ID.AZ Real Care After Bio Mask - Listed Value $6.00

I really love bio-cellulose masks because they fit the skin like a perfect additional layer and seem to be over-the-top hydrating even without an excess of serum. These delicate masks tend to have two peel off layers, which makes them a little difficult to apply, but totally worth the trouble! This one left my skin feeling very calm and soft. It didn't have too much in the way of a scent here, but it felt very clean.

Mediheal Collagen Essential Lifting & Firming Mask - Listed Value $2.00

I quite liked this little mask! It felt on the basic end of masks compared to some of the others, but sometimes that is indeed a good thing! The sheer fabric mask fit my face well, and the clear serum was abundant, absorbed beautifully, and left no stickiness. It has a soft botanical scent that I enjoyed. My skin looked pretty radiant after removing then and adding some mist toner.

The Beautiful Factr Moist Sponge Aqua Mask - Listed Value $3.00

This mask did manage to feel slightly spongy! It still fit my face really well, and the surface felt bouncy against my skin. It had a generic clean mask scent (which is always fine by me). Inside there is a ferment that is used to calm redness and irritation, by adding good bacteria to the skin surface. My skin did really love this mask and I would happily buy a few more of these.

Elishacoy Calming Mushroom Mask Sheet - Listed Value $3.00

This was probably the mask I was most excited about trying, because I love when they have an earthy scent. Instead, this one had somewhat of a menthol feel, which I was totally not expecting. It was downright chilly on my face in a really good way, and caused a slight tingle effect. The mask fit very well and though there wasn't a huge difference in how my skin looked, it certainly felt awesome.

The Pure Lotus Soothing & Brightening Mask - Listed Value $5.00

This mask had two steps. First, an exfoliating lactic acid pad you wipe all over your face. Then, the pale pink sheet mask with a heavy gel. Again, the shape of the mask gets an A+ from me. It fit like a dream! I liked this mask while it was on my face a little more than how it felt after I removed it. It left me more than a little sticky! If I had another I would choose to reserve it for before bed, when stickiness is less of an issue since I don't have to wear a whole face on top of that texture. Tackiness aside, this mask was over-the-t0p hydrating and left my skin bright.

Yadah Red Energy Mask - Listed Value $4.00

This mask was really the only true dud this month. It is one of those metallic masks which just tend to not fit well. It also felt soaking wet with a runny clear serum that dripped down my neck continuously. I did not notice the "warming effect" mentioned in the brochure, but ended up removing that mask after about 5 minutes and just rubbing the serum into my skin which felt SO much better.

I look like a melty Iron Man.

This month arrived with a full-size bonus product too!

FaceTory Artemisia Light Balancing Crème, 50 g - Retail Value $20.00

I didn't realize FaceTory had launched its own-brand products, so that is pretty exciting. They are made in Korea too, and seem really high quality. This cream is 50% Artemisia extract, which is known for its calming properties and its ability to balance skin with excessive oil. I tend to have drier skin, but I still really liked this unscented (to my nose) cream. I would caution you to apply in a super light layer, because the first time I tried it and applied a ton, it felt like a film instead of a moisturizer. Apply a pea-sized amount and this stuff really shines.

Verdict: FaceTory had some really great masks this month and an awesome new cream! Out of 7 masks there was really only one that stood out as a miss for me, which is pretty good! If you are into Korean skeet masks and love surprise bonus items, this is a great and affordable subscription that feels like a total "treat-yourself" splurge every time it arrives!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve only tried the red foil one so far out of this set and I also was not a fan of it. I tend to leave my masks on for “as long as possible” and this one ended up leaving my skin feeling very “tight”, but not in a firming way, more in an uncomfortable, maybe dry way? I also did not notice a warming effect from it. I really enjoy sheet masks in general though, and now this makes me want to try the factr one next!

I was not a fan of the metallic mask, but loved everything else.
