Scent Box December 2019 Review

This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”

The information card usually has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side. Based on the information card, this fragrance could have gone either way for me.

In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month and the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.

On to the fragrance:

DKNY Nectar Love - Estimated Value $15.19 (Buy 1 fl oz for $56)

This fragrance was launched in 2017 but is new to me. It is still in production and sold on the manufacturer's website (link in fragrance name).

Base notes include beeswax, cedar, musk, vanilla, and neroli. Mid notes include jasmine, lily of the valley, and mirabelle. Top notes include grapefruit, mandarine orange, nectarine, yellow freesia, and solar notes.

This seemed like something I might like, if it wasn't too floral, and it really wasn't floral in combination with my body chemistry. It was a little fruity, a slight bit musky, and honestly kind of generic. At least on me. Different people have different body chemistries and it might work totally differently on someone else. I was sort of hoping the beeswax would be sweet like honey, as I tend to absolutely love sweet fragrances, but it wasn't. I did get an overall "warm" impression from this one, which is surely what they were going for.

This had average longevity and sillage. I'd say to reapply in the middle of the day. I do like the rose gold holder this month.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $15.19. This is just about right at the month-to-month cost of the box, and don't forget you get a free holder and can exchange fragrances you don't care for, for free. This one was just OK for me. I like it better than some of the other DKNY fragrances I've received samples of in GWPs, but there wasn't much that made it stand out. I will probably reach for this occasionally.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $15.19 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).

I subscribed to Scent bird a couple of years ago, and just recently learned about Scent box here, so I subscribed to their emails thinking I might try them out one day. During Christmas, they ran a special for 3 months for $35.00, which I thought was a good deal, so signed up. I love that they send a free holder every month, and that you can send back a fragrance you don’t like. I much prefer Scent box compared to Scent bird, and will probably continue with my sub after the 3 months I signed up for.
