Look Fantastic December 2019 "The Christmas Edition" Review

Each box comes with a booklet that includes product information and tips for how to use what you got.

There was also a pair of promo cards for Buddy, a Swedish dog food subscription box.

Now, on to the items!

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel, 20 ml - Estimated Value $19.20 (Buy 50 ml for $48.00)

I feel like I have gotten this product so many times across all of my boxes and I just don't love it. It is a peeling product in the most literal terms. You apply this clear gel to your face, wait a few minutes, then lightly rub in circular motions until little pills form. These are supposed to be dirt, skin, and impurities, but I always just feel like it is the product itself. I have never noticed a difference with this product.

Eylure Texture No. 117 Lashes - Retail Value $4.99

Ok, I am not generally a huge fan of falsies (mainly because I am really terrible at application...) but these are gorgeous. They are very natural looking and extremely wispy, looking more like eyelash extensions than true false lashes. I am absolutely going to stash these for a special occasion where I need a noticeable lash boost, but don't want to go full tilt.

Bumble & bumble Invisible Oil, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $3.29 (Buy a full-size 8.5 fl oz for $28.00)

I think B&b was the first hair brand I actually spent what felt like a lot of money on back in college. I still really like their formulas, though I am more of an OUAI girl now. I don't often heat style or blowdry my hair, though I did just get a mini blowdryer for all of you that remember I melted my last one on my kitchen stove!! I decided to give this a go since I could actually blow dry my hair again. I spritzed it on my damp ends, combed through, and went to work drying my tresses. The result was hair that was certainly shinier and more polished looking. I like that in addition to those benefits, this is also a heat protecting formula, so I can blowdry my already dry hair with less damage and guilt.

Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $12.99 (currently on sale for $8.29)

I am not a Sleek Cosmetics fan. The shadows are always a little lacking when it comes to pigmentation, though they do have a nice shimmer every so often. This palette is exactly that: lackluster mattes with a few pretty shimmers. You will want to apply any of these with a fingertip because the fallout with a brush isn't pretty.

Here are the swatches. Some have decent pigment, others just don't.

PRAI Platinum Firm & Lift Creme, 10 ml - Estimated Value $9.00 (Buy 50 ml for $45.00)

This was a new brand for me, and I thought the sample size was a little larger than I would have expected. It is a heavier cream that applies like velvet and feels really great! Meant to firm and lift, I applied it to my back and neck and waited. Truthfully, I don't have any issues with sagging just yet (fingers crossed!) but I can comment that this cream was certainly hydrating, and it did make my skin look smoother.

Eyeko Black Magic Liner, 0.3 ml - Estimated Value $16.50 (Buy a full-size 0.4 ml for $22.00)

Our final item is probably the one I have seen the most often across all of my boxes: Eyeko black eyeliner. It works just fine, leaving behind a deep black line from its brush tip. This liner has pretty good longevity too.

Here's the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine, which was included in this box:

The Verdict: Look Fantastic Beauty Box has a value of around $65.97 this month which is good for a $19 box. I just wish the contents were better. A huge value means less if there is nothing amazing inside. I really didn't like the eyeshadow palette. The performance is just lacking with that brand, at least in my experience. I was also disappointed to recieve yet another Eyeko liner. The Real Chemistry peel is another product I feel like I get once a month, and I don't find it effective. The bright spots this month were the eyelashes, the Bumble & bumble spray, and the PRAI cream. I don't think this month was for me at all, but here's to January!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! (This page will let you know which box is currently available.)

Value Breakdown: At $19 for this box, here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Real Chemistry Peel $5.53
  • Eylure Lashes $1.44
  • Bumble and bumble Invisible Oil $0.95
  • Sleek Palette $3.74
  • Prai Cream $2.59
  • Eyeko Liner $4.75

Alternatively, each of the 6 items (not including the magazine) has an average cost of $3.17.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I actually love the 3 minute peel. I also like Bumble and Bumble much better than Ouai. I agree that the box isn’t that great though.

I love it, too. I the the box was terrific even if I’ll never use the lashes.

I love the 3 minute peel as well. It makes my skin really soft and gives me smoother brighter skin

Thank you for your honesty, Megan! I too am also disappointed when I receive the same items over and over that don’t work for me. It’s the reason I cancelled all of my subscriprions.

I only like the box.

Ditto! Love the box and thought about ordering just for the box, but now I’m sure glad that I didn’t.

That hair primer has been a staple of mine for years and is leaps and bounds better than any of the OUAI products I’ve tried tbh.

I agree. Bumble and Bumble works much better for my hair than Ouai although I love the smell of most of the Ouai products lol

The PRAI is great; I have been using it as a chest cream and have seen noticeable changes in my skin. I enjoyed trying the lashes — a first for me. I am giving away the eyeliner and hair product, but will use the peel.

This box really feels like a 2018 recycle. I have gotten all these before from them. Bummer.

I like finding out the lashes included glue. I don’t wear them as I have.no experience putting them on. I am more willing to buy some to try if there is glue included.

My last month is February for this box and I have no regrets cancelling

I am glad I did not get this box. I would have been so disappointed. The Prai would have been the only item new to me, and I would not have enjoyed the other five at all. I have no interest in fashion magazines, but I’ll keep following the reviews of this box and see what I think of the next months. Thank you Megan for your time and thoughtfulness in writing this.

Prai is one of my favorite lines. Everything has that velvety consistentcy and application. This box was okay.

Hi Alice! Just last weekend I actually saw Prai at Marshalls! I didn’t look closely at what the products were or their pricing other than thinking “hey! I know you! I got you in a box!”, but maybe you might want to check it out since you like the brand. 🙂

Thank you! I will! Lovely products that work!

This does have a good value for the buck, but I agree that it wasn’t anything special. I tried the peel for the first time and the little ‘pills’ reminded me of tiny lint balls stuck on laundry when you wash it with towels. I pretty much had to pick them off of my face, it was not pleasant. I actually like Eyeko, but it isn’t exciting in the least. Just another for my arsenal. I love love the hair product!! I don’t use any heat on my hair, I just apply it when wet and comb it through and I love the way it makes my hair. Smooth, shiny but not oily like a lot of other brands. Face cream-agreed the amount was surprising. It is still a smallish looking container but it is actually really full of product.
I wanted to like the pallet-glad to know it isn’t just me that wasn’t impressed.
Nonetheless, LF is still one of my all-time favs.

What a waste of money. Am I the only one NOT seeing the pull for the subscription boxes. My mind set is to budget in a certain amount each month and get myself something I not only need but want instead of spending on several boxes with items not worth the price.
