FabKids (little sister brand to Fabletics and JustFab) is a monthly clothing subscription for boys and girls that allows you to shop in two ways - you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the FabKids quiz for your child (for multiple children you can add a kid) to note their size and style preferences.
  • Each month, FabKids releases a new collection and they will curate looks that match your child's preferences which you can view in their personalized Fabshop.
  • Shop those looks at 40% off what you’d get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $29.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you’ll also earn points that can be applied towards future purchases.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FabKids Boys January 2020 Review

When you sign up they will ask you a few questions about your child: their name, age, clothing size, favorite weekend activity, and which outfit you prefer out of a few options. This helps to personalize your child's "Fabshop" each month. If you have multiple kids you are shopping for, there is an option to "add a kid."

This is the packing slip we received with instructions for returns and exchanges on the back.

Colorblock Tee, Size 2T - Retail Value $26.00, VIP Cost $19.95 (Currently on sale for $6.99)

I took advantage of a recent sale and shopped for my boys this month. Usually, I stick to the older kids, but I decided to see what they had for my 21-month-old this time. You can see he was happy to model for you! Tops in 2T always fit him a little big, so I found this sizing to be pretty typical, which I was happy about. I love the colors in this top. It is just a thin, basic long sleeve tee that will be great to finish out the winter weather in! I paid $6.99 for this one.

Colorblock Henley, Size 2T and XS (4T/5T) - Retail Value $26.00, VIP Cost $19.95  (Currently on sale for $6.99)

Well you know I had to do the matching shirts! These henleys were on sale for $4.99 and I thought the colors were great for my growing boys. The shirts both fit pretty well, although maybe a little wide, but that just gives them a little bit of growing room. The shirts are nice and soft and both boys were happy to wear them.

Dino Fame Tee, Size XS (4T/5T) - $22.00, VIP Cost $16.95 (Currently on sale for $4.99)

Since the baby is pretty set on clothing thanks to big brother's hand-me-downs, the rest of the items are for my older son. This shirt was pretty fun and my little guy loves his dinos, so we decided to snag all of the clearance dino gear we could find! This is one of those cute tees that should give anyone a giggle thanks to how silly it is. He loves the class clown dinosaur best, of course! We paid $6.99 for this one.

Crushing It Tee, Size XS (4T/5T) - $22.00, VIP Cost $16.95, Currently on sale for $4.99

This was a shirt that my son had loved when he saw it on here a few months ago, so when we saw it was on sale, I figured it would be a good one for spring. This is another one with a fun graphic that suits his style. It's a great basic tee to play in. We paid $6.99 for this one as well.

Dino Printed Slip On Sneaker, Size T9 - Retail Value $26.00, VIP Cost $19.95

These shoes were too cute to pass up. They weren't actually on sale, but I still felt they were a decent deal for slip-on shoes that my son will love. I think I've paid a little less at retail stores for similar shoes, but sometimes they fit a bit tight on his feet and these felt roomy. We did order a half size up, but he still has been able to wear these out for short periods of time and I'm thinking that by the time spring hits, they will be perfect. They seem well constructed, so I would hope they will hold up the way the adult shoes do for me!

The Verdict: FabKids has some great designs that appeal to kids and being able to shop their sales can turn it into a pretty great deal, too! You may have noticed that the sale price of two shirts went down, but the other two actually went up in cost, so I still would have paid the same today as I did a few weeks ago. Overall, I think I did all right and I am happy with having 2 shirts for my younger son and 3 shirts plus a pair of shoes for my older son for $55.96 with free shipping. That averages out to about $9.33 per item, which isn't too bad considering one of them is a pair of shoes and these are styles that not everyone will be wearing. The retail value of all six items comes to $148.00 ($113.70 with VIP savings), but since I snagged everything on sale, we only paid $55.96 (including taxes and shipping).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of publication, these items are all still available.

Value Breakdown: The total retail price for everything is $148.00, but the VIP total is $113.70. That’s a VIP savings of about 23%. Since I paid sale prices my total was $55.96 which is a savings of 62%!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

You have the cutest kiddos! probably didn’t read close enough, but I’m just a little confused. Is the VIP fee you pay taken out of your total like with the StitchFix styling fee, or is it in addition to your clothing total?

Haha no worries, MrsLittle! It’s a little confusing for sure! Each month you have the option to shop or skip by the 5th of the month. Usually I go in and skip each month and then just shop at my leisure which costs nothing and is just like shopping at a regular online store. If you do forget to skip or shop then you are charged the $29.95 VIP fee but you can use it as a credit to shop later, so you don’t really lose it, but you won’t be able to spend it on sale items so it’s not always the best value. Hopefully that makes sense! 🙂

Ok, I just reread it and it looks like it’s a credit, but it is applied later? Sorry, I should probably just go look at the website…
