Fortune Cookie Soap “Happy Birthday” September 2019 Review

info

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box.

shimmer

Let's Get Caked Shimmer Perfume Oil

This perfume oil, while shimmery in the bottle, does not leave a trail of glitter wherever it is applied. The scent is described as cake, sticky caramel, and deep vanilla, and it definitely makes me hungry.

frosting 2

Frosting Creamy Face Wash

This sulfate-free face wash is made with ingredients like rosehip extract, lemon, and lavender, and it emulsified well on wet skin. My face can occasionally be sensitive, so it is really hard for me to justify using such a highly-fragranced face wash more than was necessary to test it out.

Watermelon Cake Lip Shine

I was set out to dislike this before I tried it because of the packaging design- I was not enthused to stick my grubby fingers into a jar of sticky lip gel. I still have that same complaint, but this was nowhere near as sticky as I expected this watermelon lip gel to be. It was actually pretty moisturizing, and it gave my lips a great shine while being comfortable to wear.

Sweet Fix Whipped Soap

I love whipped soaps. They are so much more gentle on my skin, and they feel more nourishing compared to a typical body wash. The scent on this stuck with the birthday theme well with notes of vanilla frosting, spun sugar, and bubblegum. While my go-to whipped soap is from Ahhh Sugar Sugar, this is a very lovely mini I will be hanging onto for future travels.

old

Mint Chip OCD Hand Sanitizer

This hand sanitizer is scented just like mint chocolate chip ice cream, and I am always happy to have a new container to throw in my purse and have clean(er) hands when I am on the go.

sprinkles

Sprinkles Party Bath Salts

I would happily take a massive jar of this stuff- I love bath salts, and these are fun. The scent is orange-vanilla, cake, and buttercream, and the salts are a blend of Epsom, Mediterranean, and dead sea salt.

mist

Birthday Wishes Fine Fragrance Mist

I much prefer mists to roll-on fragrances, so I was happy to see this in the box. The scent is a mix of sponge cake with heavy cream, fresh strawberries, and sour rhubarb marmalade. It smells sugary-sweet, which isn't really the fragrance I reach for on a regular basis. I thought this had decent staying power, however, which is always nice in a perfume.

The Verdict: I have a sweet tooth, but this month's Fortune Cookie Soap box really hammered the birthday cake theme in its scents this month.  While that was fun for soap and body products, it wasn't really my jam for a perfume as a 25-year-old attorney. The creativity was still a delight to experience, and the bath salts may be a new favorite of mine.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I adore FCS! And I have super sensitive skin, but nothing from them has ever irritated it, which is surprising given how scented they are. They’re my go to bath and body product company now. I get so many compliments on the cake perfume, which I did not expect to love so much!

As someone more into baths than other stuff, this box does not do it for me. I will stick with Lavish Bath Box. Please start reviewing them again!

After getting off the wait list this was my first box. The fragrance mist was too strong for me. I am very sensitive to smells. I didn’t try the roller ball one since that says perfume. My bath whipped soap had different colors than what is shown here. Not that great of a scent. Not sure what is going on. I usually love sweet smells. I was unhappy with this box. I can’t cancel yet since it took me forever to get the box.
I am looking forward to more room sprays(Oct. there is one!) and candles.

I posted this below but I’m also very sensitive to smells and the fine fragrance mist was too much for me, but I ADORE the roller ball perfume, you should totally try it!

Thanks Jenny M. The roll on is more mild and I can use that! Glad it doesn’t sparkle either.

It’s worth noting that the waiting list to sign up for this box is quite long and slow moving. I like it so much that I signed a friend up over a month ago and she’s still the same number (#27) on the waitlist.

(You can check your number by signing in on the FCS site.)

I had another friend sign up last week and she’s like #85.

It really does take forever to get a box but in my opinion, is worth it.

Aw man! I was just getting ready to comment how excited I was to finally find an affordable bath box but I guess I will still have to wait. Oh well, at least now I know about it. I’m going to get on that waiting list right now. This looks so great! I just read the older reviews and I’m pumped! Thank you for the review! 🧁🎂🍰🥳

I LOVED THIS BOX. My favorite thing was the roll-on perfume, which is odd because I complain about all the roll-ons included each box. But omg, I get so many compliments when I wear it. And I think they changed their formula…I’m used to them wearing off in a couple of hours, but this one stays put like whoa.

I am also obsessed with that roll-on!! I love it so much I ordered 2 extras! As someone who gets migraines from conventional perfumes, I find most of their scents don’t trigger my migraines at all, I really love them!
