Elizabeth & Clarke is a women’s clothing subscription box all about polished, cute tops. They began with the mission of perfecting and extrapolating on the idea of the plain white shirt—though you'll now find pops of classic colors in their designs, the company is still dedicated to creating stylish essentials that are versatile, high-quality, and affordable. Sizes 00-18 are available.

Elizabeth & Clarke only designs a limited amount of new tees, blouses, sweaters, and tops each season, so they can keep the prices very reasonable. Each season, you get to preview the tops and pick your favorites. There are usually three new tops and a few classic styles that return from collection to collection. They also offer an "Unstainable" collection, which is just what it sounds like—crisp tops made specifically to resist stains from all sorts of spills (including wine)!

Each season, you can pick the tops you'd like to receive from the seasonal Collection, the Unstainable collection, or from or The Archive (which features shirts from past collections). Or, you leave it up to the folks at Elizabeth & Clarke to decide for you. If a size or style isn't quite right, you can always exchange or return the item. Returns and exchanges are free in the U.S.

This review is of the 3-Shirt Plan for $120.00/quarter.

Elizabeth & Clarke Fall 2019 Shirt Collection Review

This season, Elizabeth & Clarke introduced three new shirt styles for cool weather in rich fall colors. All three styles are machine-washable and two of them are Unstainable! I highly recommend checking out the pages for each top and seeing how they style them in different ways.

Here's the invoice for my shirts this season. I'm usually a medium in tops but my 34D bra size can make finding the right size tricky, especially in blouses. I have an hourglass shape and I'm 5'6". Since I wasn't sure what size to pick when I subscribed, I emailed customer service for help. They asked for my measurements (and gave some handy instructions on how to correctly measure) and we ended up going with a size 10 in E&C sizes.

Each shirt comes neatly folded and sealed in its own bag.

The Unstainable Ramirez, Size 10

The Ramirez is a classic style dress shirt in 100% Unstainable vegan silk. Ths fabric is thick and smooth with a hint of texture. Though there isn't any stretch, the construction of the shirt gives me plenty of room to move comfortably. E+C adds Gap Snaps to the bust level of their button-up shirts which helps keep the placket closed and prevent gaping. The split side hem and rose gold cuff buttons add some stylish touches. I think this shirt looks great with dark jeans for a casual look or could be tucked into a skirt or slacks for a more polished office look.

The Unstainable Hart, Size 10

This shirt is just my style! I love the asymmetrical hem, crew neckline, and 3/4 inch sleeves. The 100% Unstainable Ponte De Roma Knit fabric resists wrinkles and is treated with E+C's Unstainable treatment. The darting along the bodice and hidden zipper help create a sleek silhouette and great fit. I have a feeling I'll be wearing this top a lot this season. This is my favorite shirt of the Fall Collection.

The Scott, Size 10

I typically shy away from thicker sweaters since they tend to make me look bulky, but this one is cute and flattering. The 95% Poly/5% Spandex yarn is soft and smooth with medium weight perfect for chilly nights. The fit works for me thanks to the side split hem (which means no pulling at the hip) and the fitted arms. The simple colorblock design looks great with jeans and booties for a weekend look or a slim pair of pants and heels for work.

A note about quality: I'm always impressed with the quality of construction and attention to detail that Elizabeth & Clarke uses for each style. I love that the seams are finished and neat, easily stretched areas are reinforced, and that hidden zippers are actually hidden. It may sound super picky, but these are all things that contribute to a great fit and longevity in clothing.

Each shirt comes with a detailed care tag that gives you instructions on how to keep your shirt clean and keep the Unstainable treatment in tip-top shape. It's pretty incredible to watch liquids just roll off of the fabric!

*A note about Vegan Silk from E&C: “Our Vegan Silk® is made with a natural, plant-derived cellulose called Lyocell. We blend in 15% microfiber poly to provide durability, resist wrinkles, and make garments washer and dryer-safe, even at high temperatures. We also blend in 3% high-tenacity elastane to provide stretch. From there, we use a technique called mercerization to give the surface a lustrous look and backed the fabric with satin for a silky-soft feel. Finally, we treat the fabric with our Unstainable® finish!”

The Verdict: I'm happy with the whole Fall Collection from Elizabeth & Clarke and the Unstainable Hart is my favorite piece. Each style is versatile, beautiful, and easy-to-wear. Not to mention easy to take care of! Each shirt in this collection is machine-washable and two of them are Unstainable with care instructions right on the tags. I think I'm most impressed with how well-constructed the styles are and with all of the nifty details like gap snaps and thoughtful button placement. Customer service is super helpful with answering any questions or helping you to find the right sizing too. So, if you are looking to expand your wardrobe with pieces that can be styled for work or play, are low maintenance, and often include bold, funky details, Elizabeth & Clarke is worth checking out.

I love E&C styles but the past several seasons I’ve felt that they changed their fit model. Recent styles have been boxier and shorter in length and sleeves, in my opinion. Taller girls beware.

All that said, I still get it every season hoping for the best because it’s hard to find pretty clothes that are work friendly! And the quality is there in spades. I just have been returning everything, pretty much, for the last year.

I got the sweater and the black top. Love both and have already worn multiple times. E&C clothes are just easy to deal with and look polished in.

Unusually for me, I love all three of the shirts! I wish I had bought them when the fall box was available.

The Hart and the Ramirez are both available. I bought them in the fall box and added them again to the winter box. Any shirts on this site can be added to the upcoming box. https://www.unstainable.ec/

They’re all very nice and you look great in them, but what the heck is “vegan silk”? That fabric looks nothing like silk to my eye. It just looks like polyester.

Description of vegan silk is in the paragraph right above The Verdict. You must have a great eye if you can spot 15% polyester. 👀

I do not know what that is either, but I subscribe to this box and the top feels so silky! Love this sub.
