September 2019 Dapper Dog Box Review

September's box theme is Breakfast in Bed!

Each box comes with two info cards, one listing the featured item of the month—the Dapper Dog monthly bandana—and the other has some social media info as well as a little more info about the charitable nature of this box.

Murray is ready to dig in!

Coffee & Waffles Bandana - Listed Value $30

This reversible bandana is making me thirsty! One side is blue with coffees to-go and the other side has blueberries and waffles--yum! Here is the bandana modeled on my BFF Murray (he is my 8-year-old Corgi-Maltese); its triangular shape makes it really easy to tie on, and the size they sent us is medium, which fits him perfectly.

Pet Qwerks Krinkle & Squeak Newspaper Dog Toy - Retail Value $5.17 (Found here for $4.40)

This toy is right up Murray's alley! He loves toys that crinkle and squeak, and although Murray has never fetched the paper for us, he has no problem doing so with this toy! The little write-ups on it are cute and funny, and this toy is definitely different than any he has in his stash.

Here he is being silly with one leg inside the toy. It is sewn together and hollow through the middle, so it would be fun to put a bone inside and have Murray find it.

Charlie's Treats Wheat Free Granola Squares, 6 oz - Retail Value $6

Dapper Dog sends out some really great treats. Wow, these granola squares are big--for Murray, anyway! I was happy to see that all the ingredients were mostly simple, everyday foods, and these are made in small batches. They even smell like human treats.

They even made quite a mess like human granola can, but Mur was happy to help clean up, like a good boy.

Prized Pet Pork and Cheese Strips, 8 oz - Retail Value $9.99 (Found here for $4.99)

This brand of dog treats is a new find for us. This big ol' bag of strips is wheat-free, made in the U.S.A. and all-natural - definitely 3 qualities I can stand by! Murray loves these jerky-like strips, and I was able to break each strip into 3 bite-sized training treats, so this bag will last us all month long.

You gotta love a good action shot!

Soda Pup Coffee Cup Nylon Chew Toy - Retail Value $9.99

I had to do a little detective work to find out what this toy was because honestly, we had no clue. After googling Soda Pup, we realized that it is just a nylon chew toy, but it just feels like a block of plastic to me. The materials used for this toy are FDA compliant and non-toxic, and it is also dishwasher safe, which you don't see too often for dog toys.

"What is this thing!?" Murray wanted nothing to do with it, haha, but he is not a heavy chewer. Even though Murray didn't know what to do with this nylon chew, I am sure I know a few bigger pups that may be able to give this toy a fair chance.

Verdict: I really love the bandana, treats and paper toy from this month's box, but I can't help to feel like it is a little light again this month. The bandana alone is listed as $$30, and although it looks fabulous on my boy, I could never imagine justifying paying a $30 price tag for any nonessential accessory for Mur. This month has a value (using retail, sale and listed prices) of $55.38, but if you break up the box's cost and item count, you are paying $7 per item this month; it is still a little steep for me, but I do enjoy unboxing our Dapper Dog each month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the October box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35/month with a value of $55.38, giving each of the 5 items in the box an average cost of $7.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
