JoahBox is a monthly Korean Beauty subscription of 5 to 7 full-size K-beauty products shipped directly from Seoul, South Korea. Each box will have up to $100.00 retail value and includes both makeup and skincare. It's always fun to discover new K-Beauty and since I've been getting this subscription for a while, I've come to know some of the brands and which products I love. The box is $35.95 per month and has free shipping!

JoahBox July 2019 Review

When you first subscribe to JoahBox, there are four drop-down menus to customize your experience:

You will choose your birth month, skin tone (ranging from "very fair" to "dark brown"), your skin type (oily, dry, combination, acne-prone, dull/aging, or sensitive/redness) and if you'd prefer to receive more skincare, makeup, or both.

Each month you'll find a short booklet that details the included products and how to use them, as well as a collectible trading card. The theme for July is "Travel Kit" and has a pool with floaty design to both. I suggest keeping the info sheet around since sometimes not all the product packaging has English instructions.

Lovbod Wonder-full Body Stick, 0.54 oz. - Retail Value $21.00

Reading the directions on the box for this stick, it's described as a balm that helps lift and firm areas of the body that may need a little plumping or tightening. What JoahBox suggests and what I actually think is the best use for this is as relief from what I've heard referred to as "chub rub." That's right- think of this as a balm to allow the skin of various body parts (such as thighs) to glide against each other instead of rub and cause irritation. Back in the winter, I purchased a similar product to try out in the looming summer months that I dread since I can't wear shorts or a dress without my thighs rubbing together like a cricket, minus the glorious sound. Just a lot of sweaty stickiness here. I'm 100% ok with NOT having a #thighgap but I don't want it to cause me pain. I tried this stick out for this very reason and it yielded positive results. So there we have it. Does it firm my skin? Not sure- but it allows me to walk confidently in the heat.

Koelcia Chic Lock Eyeliner in Black - Retail Value $14.00

You can't go wrong with black eyeliner, in my opinion. I'm actually partial to liquid liners since I have greasy lids and pencils can get smudged easily. This liner has a nice slim brush that can make thin lines or get thicker with more pressure. The deep black hue is perfect for making your eyes "pop" and it sets quickly so you can get on with the rest of your day. While it doesn't smudge, I wouldn't call this "waterproof" (as they do in the info sheet) since it came off pretty easy with some dampness. Otherwise, it holds up pretty well and I'm happy with it!

Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pads, 7 pack - Retail Value $12.00

I received a single packet of one of these a while ago as a sample and am not convinced it's for me. I tried again with this box of seven which should last a week since they suggest using it daily. The thin round pad comes pre-soaked in omega oil and phytosqualane along with some other oils, which is great for travel but leaves my skin a touch on the oily side (obviously, I suppose) which I guess is no different than using a facial oil. I'm just a little "meh" about these. Perhaps it's just what seems to be more unneeded packaging?

Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing First Toner, 80 ml - Estimated Value $9.52 (Buy a 210 ml bottle for $25.00)

Nothing too fancy here- just a run-of-the-mill toner in my experience. With all of the fancier toners and mists I already have, this one doesn't really stand out. It's made with pomegranate extract and honeysuckle, but neither seems to come through in this gentle toner.

I'm Sorry For My Skin 8 Step Travel Jelly Mask, 1 ct - Retail Value $8.00

I was introduced to this interestingly-name brand last month in JoahBox and they've come back with a more in-depth travel pack. Everything you need for an overnight trip is in this pack of eight steps. Cleansing oil, cleansing foam, toner, emulsion, cream, body wash, 2-in-1 shampoo, and even a jelly mask is included. I skipped the cleansing oil since I know I'm not a fan but used the cleansing foam which was gentle. The body wash was also nice but the 2-in-1 shampoo left a lot to be desired from my hair. The jelly mask was really moisturizing and I found the toner a bit thick while the cream was adequate as well. Overall- this is a cool pack to cut down on toiletries you'll need to pack, but nothing really stood out as an amazing product. It's more convenient than anything.

Verdict: This month's JoahBox had more misses than hits for me this time around, but that's kind of how things go for me. The body stick is by far the best item and perfect for summer. The eyeliner is solid but not all that unique and the rest of the items were kinda "meh." The total retail value I got for this box is $64.52 which is almost $20 over the cost.

That 8 step travel mask looks great for overnight trips! I know no could’ve used something similar before lol, even if some of it wasn’t 100% amazing I think it’d surely best out hotel room products

I actually use the gajillion samples of the Smashbox primer we all have from various subs to fight the chub rub. (The silicone is what does the trick 👌👌👌)

Looks like a solid box!
