June 2019 Sisley Paris "Serafino Says" Box Review

Each box comes with a card indicating the theme of the box. This month seems focused on guys skincare, though I find that anything from this brand works well for me, so I won't be sharing.

Now, let's check out the items!

Every month, the products come nestled inside a satin pouch.

Lyslait, 30 ml - Estimated Value $14.40 (Buy a full-size 250 ml version for $120.00)

All Sisley cleansers feel so luxurious, and this one is no exception. The consistency here is smooth and milky, and it has a great clean scent. It left my skin feeling really refreshed but not overly dry, and a lot softer than most of my cleansers. The creamy consistency did take a little more effort to rinse off but it was well worth it.

Purifying Re-Balancing Lotion with Tropical Resins, 15 ml - Estimated Value $11.16 (Buy a full-size 125 ml version for $93.00)

I really adore liquid lotion formulas, though this felt much more like a toner to me, especially since it has salicylic acid in it. I am guessing this is meant for oilier skin, because I found it a little drying personally. I still really enjoyed using it and plan on adding a little to a water mister I have for a refreshing mist!

Sisleÿum for Men, 4 ml - Estimated Value $20.56 (Buy a full-size 50 ml version for $275.00)

I am always amused when there is an anti-aging product marketed to men which claims to be a "complete" routine while I am over here with my 4-8 steps at night. I guess that's marketing? Either way, I loved this product, and especially liked the "masculine" scent. It smells like the Sisley scent we all know in love but with added spices and woods AKA a total winner, especially for someone like myself who tends to wear mostly unisex scents. The formula was a little light for a night cream IMO, but worked so well as a day cream.

Phyto-Cernes Eclat, 0.5 ml – Estimated Value $3.57 (Buy a full-size 15 ml for $107.00)

I have gotten this sample before, in the same #2 shade and it is still way too dark. I would also like to mention that it is just an odd shade for a concealer, even if you aren't usually the palest shade available. It feels like a creamsicle shade; too pastel orange for a skin tone. Granted, I am not used to such warm shades. What do you guys think? The good news is that you need very little of this product. The swatch below was the tiniest little dollop rubbed in.

The coverage is legit.

Confort Extreme Nutritive Handcare, 4 ml - Estimated Value $5.60 (Buy a full-size 75 ml for $105.00)

Every box, there is one product that makes me wish I was a fancy rich lady, and this is it. This hand cream is exceptional! It has a gorgeous herbal scent, like grass, chamomile, and something else wonderful and makes my hands so soft! It absorbs super fast while still feeling so thick and luxurious. Fingers crossed for more of this in upcoming boxes in larger sizes!

Black Rose Precious Face Oil, 0.01 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.80 (Buy a full-size 0.84 oz for $235.00)

Finally, our last item wasn't on the main info sheet, but is a favorite of mine. I love anything with major rose ingredients, and this luxe oil smells like a rose garden. I like adding this expensive oil to my moisturizer at night so I can make it last longer! It leaves my skin so soft and the rose fragrance is one of my favorites to drift off to sleep to.

Verdict: Sisley was pretty dreamy this month. Overall, I am estimating a value of around $58.09 for this box. (Keep in mind I come to this estimation based on the full-size values!) Even though it was "man-centric" I still found each item totally useable and enjoyable. I also thought there were some pretty generous sample sizes, larger than the norm for this sub. The only dud was the concealer sample, but, hey, we all saw that coming for me, right? Otherwise, I am pretty thrilled with all the skincare items and I am happy to have gotten to try a piece from their men's line.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Do a lot of their products have lily in them? Is there a way to opt out? I worry about lily products with cats in our house.

I got one of these boxes for free from Sisley a few months ago and I love the scent of everything but I dunno…just don’t see the hype. Just my opinion of course.

Just as an fyi if you have a Sisley counter anywhere close they sometimes give this stuff for free if you ask. It’s at their discretion and sometimes you have to buy something but I’ve had very generous employees before who gave me little bags full of various samples without having to buy anything. It’s worth checking out and asking.

The ONLY men’s product in the June selection is the Soin Global Revitalisant in the dark colored tube.

Also, they have never before put men’s items in my bags and I’ve subscribed to this for 2 years, I believe, maybe a bit longer. I think there was one slightly masculine scented shampoo sample, but my hair is massive, so it wasn’t in play, and hubby is sans les cheveux. 🙂

I thought I recall them including a men’s cologne once, and I was thinking that this box wasn’t any different than any other box, despite how they labeled the box, with the exception of including one men’s product, which I thought they did before and it wasn’t a big deal to subscribers. My recollection could be wrong though, and I don’t feel like looking back at past MSA reviews to confirm. 🙂 I did gift the men’s product & concealer, but I kept everything else!

That concealer is probably for color correction and designed to be covered by a more skin toned concealer after applying.

I would never be able to cover this color on my face. 🙁

You’d think they’d source a concealer that’s more useful to those with fair skin, but nope, it’s not color- correcting. It’s shade ” 2″ and I’d probably be a 0.. this is really an unusual pigmentation for Sisley, IMO.
I stock up on Sisley and non-exported French brand cosmetics when I’m in Paris, and the strange thing is that MOST items are for fair skin tones in general.

The good thing for me was that this was simply a sachet size one use throw away.
I also threw away the men’s product because I did NOT like the scent. Now I find out that teeny tube is worth $20. Yikes. LOL.

Yeah, the website says it is used to conceal dark circles.

I wasn’t sure about June as it was geared towards men, but other than the concealer which was way too orange for me, I liked everything in the box! I should have passed the moisturizer on to my boyfriend, but hey, I didn’t want him to fall in love with such a high end item. 😉

The concealer works for me under my eyes and the orange covers my dark purple under eye circles well. Doesn’t work anywhere else on my face though, so only use it for that.

The product page for that concealer does state that it is an under eye concealer so that makes sense

Do men actually use concealer?

Jackie

My husband does to cover the occasional blemish.

LOL @ “fancy rich lady”. I watch Michelle Wang on youtube and she does exclusively luxury products, and that’s pretty much how her reviews make me feel.
