July 2019 MoonBox “Embrace” Review
MoonBox sends out an info guide every month describing the featured items included in the box as well as instructions on how they should be used. It also gives a general overview of the major cosmic events happening this month. This month has a New Moon in Cancer, which brings forth Cancer's homebody nature. It's a great time to reconnect with family and share compassion and love with those you share your life.
Wooden Lunar Calendar/Collectible Crystal Card
Every month MoonBox includes a stylish wooden lunar calendar with the featured collectible crystal card on the back.
Lizush Lip Balm - Retail Value $8
MoonBox has sampled Lizush products before, and I really liked some of their bath products; this chapstick is not one of my favorite blends, though. It has a mixture of coconut, avocado and almond oil as well as calendula wax. The balm feels a little waxier than I like, but I do appreciate that this version is unscented.
Sukha Sanctuary Crystal Spray, 2 oz - Retail Value $16
Used as a body, room or linen spray, this product is supposed to cleanse and induce bliss, just shake and spritz! It has a potent fragrance of rose and patchouli oils and also includes a rose quartz pebble that you can hear rolling around inside the glass bottle. This earthy blend smells nice and is great to create your own sacred space, and with the help of cleansed rose quartz, unwanted energies will hopefully dissipate.
Although I see peel-off masks as mostly being a fun sleepover activity, this mask made my skin feel very soft. It has a very soothing cucumber, spa scent that I love. Best used for dry skin (hello!), this mask helps to tighten pores, remove impurities and rejuvenate the skin. I put on a thin layer and after about 18 minutes of drying time, I peeled the mask then rinsed off the remaining product. My skin felt smooth, but I didn't notice any difference in my pores.
This pale chai is tasty! Turmeric, ginger and black pepper offer just a touch of spice to this subtle blend, which is much lighter than your average chai. I usually drink my tea plain anymore, but I used honey to subdue a hint of bitterness, which made this perfectly enjoyable.
Bonus: Practically Magic Co Cancer Cards, Set of 3 - Retail Value $5
I love receiving stationary and cards in subs. This set of 3 cards wasn't listed in the box's contents, which leads me to believe it was included as a bonus item for this month. Also, these cards were once available on the MoonBox site, but that page has since vanished, hence the remaining retail value. The sleek Cancer symbol and design of this card have a modern feel, and I always prefer receiving blank cards, so this is an all-around win for me. I know a few Cancers that could use a little snail mail (those sentimental cuties!), so I will definitely be using these and dropping a line during their season.
Blue Lace Agate: Use for truth, purification, self-expression & communication. Associated signs: Aquarius, Cancer, Scorpio
Check out big blue - what a beautiful stone! Blue Lace Agate is known to help release overly analytical tendencies and help us to enjoy being our uninhibited selves without feeling judged or having negative energies or emotional wounds drag us down. I really enjoy the descriptions MoonBox offers, not only on their information cards but the crystal cards as well. This month ends with this very pertinent advice, which all of us should embrace, especially during Cancer season: Embrace who you are, appreciate what you have and hold the ones you love close.
The Verdict: Gaia MoonBox sent a great box out for Cancer season. Self-care and stationery -- a perfect combo for any Cancer! I like the array of products and brands MoonBox sends out each month, and I also enjoy displaying the stylish wooden calendar on my vanity and welcoming a new deluxe crystal to my collection each month. As far as the value of this box goes, I do think the bang to buck ratio is skewed; if they would have sent out the full-sized mask, I may feel differently, but $36 seems a little steep for what the box contained.
To Wrap Up:
Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.00 + $2.00 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $6.
