Le Tote June 2019 Review

Le Tote is a clothing rental service that allows you to wear and hang on to clothing and accessories as long as you’d like with no commitment to buy them and starts as low as $69/month for just five clothing items (I just switched to 8 clothing items for $89/month). In addition to their regular subscription, they also offer Le Tote Maternity and both come in several levels from 8-15 pieces at a time (all of which you can change at any time). Le Tote will populate your shipment based on likes and a questionnaire you take at the beginning, but you can always change anything you don’t like (more on that in my first review here). I’ve been subscribing to Le Tote for about 9 months now and I’ve learned a lot! This month will be my last, and I’ve chosen quite a few really summery items.

How Le Tote Works

If you’re curious as to how the signup process works, I wrote a more in-depth article back in October when I received my first delivery and walked through every step of the way. If you’re new to Le Tote, that’s a great place to start! I also wrote some tips on how to get the sizing right, and how to style your items with your existing wardrobe.

Le Tote Plans

As a quick guide, here are all of the different subscription options now available. You can go clothing only, or a mix of clothing and accessories. All subscriptions are only 1 tote per month except for the bottom two that are marked “popular” in which you get 2 totes per month.

  • Front of Le Tote Info Booklet

    1 of 2

  • Inside of Le Tote Info Booklet detailing 8 included pieces

    2 of 2

You’ll receive a personalized pamphlet with your clothes that go over all of the prices (both retail and the Le Tote price). There’s often an additional tote sale price marked in red. This month, none of my items have an additional discount, which is sad.

    Le Tote Return mailer bag

You’ll also receive a pre-paid mailer to return any of the clothing and accessories you don’t end up purchasing.

    • Naked Wines Voucher

    • back of Naked Wines voucher

Like last month, my delivery also came with a $100 voucher for Naked Wines. If you’re not familiar, check out Megan’s review about the company that sends all of those vouchers in subscription boxes!

      This Month’s Le Tote Clothing

Group Shot of 8 Le Tote Items laying flat

Here are the eight items I chose this month!

818 Graphic Tee with Calvin Klein Jeans full outfit on Marne

This outfit is probably the most “me” one of the box. Jeans and a tee is my usual uniform.

      • 818 Graphic Tee on Marne

        1 of 2

      • Detail of side slit on 818 graphic tee

        2 of 2

818 Graphic Tee, size small – Retail Value $58.00 (Le Tote Price $29.00)

Tees are always my go-to top and this cream one is super soft and has a cool geometric print. The short sleeves have a bit more length to them than the average shirt and there’s a little side slit at the bottom to allow it to comfortably fit over my hips. It’s also slightly shorter in the front than in the back. The fit on this was pretty good too!

        • Calvin Klein Mid Rise Skinny Jeans on Marne

          1 of 2

        • Back of Calvin Klein jeans on Marne

          2 of 2

Calvin Klein Mid Rise Skinny Jeans, size 31 – Retail Value $79.00 (Le Tote Price $62.00)

Last month I tried to get into a size 29 pair of Calvin Klein jeans and it was not even coming close, so this time I sized up. These light-wash skinnies were still a bit tighter than I’d like but I was able to get them on. They sort of have a stiff feeling to them and I’m not sure if that’s the wash or just due to them being laundered in between rentals.

          • Rachel Roy Collection Blazer on Marne

            1 of 3

          • Rachel Roy Collection Blazer on Marne- open

            2 of 3

          • detail of pocket of Rachel Roy Collection Blazer on Marne

            3 of 3

Rachel Roy Collection Windowpane One Button Blazer, size 6 – Retail Value $168 (Le Tote Price $120)

I thought I’d try a blazer since I don’t own any but like the way they can dress up a pair of jeans. I must say that I like how this windowpane patterned blazer looks open much more than when it’s buttoned but I also had to roll the sleeves which were too long. I think this was just a little too big for me overall but I like the look. There are buttons at the cuff and pockets on both sides at the front.

            • Noir Floral Pants on Marne

              1 of 2

            • detail of the back elastic waist on Noir Floral Pants on Marne

              2 of 2

Noir Mid Rise Floral Cropped Trouser, size medium – Retail Value $70.00 (Le Tote Price $58.00)

Ugh, I love this white floral print on these pants against a dark background but I rolled the dice with getting a size medium and I lost this one. These are way too snug across my hips and therefore I won’t be wearing these out. Sad, because these straight leg numbers would make a cooler option to wear on a warm day rather than tight skinny jeans.

Summer & Sage Ribbed Bodycon Dress on Marne

Summer & Sage Ribbed Bodycon Dress, size large – Retail Value $72.00 (Le Tote Price $58.00)

Well isn’t this a comfy dress? It looks almost like something to wear to sleep in but it’s a lightweight ribbed dress that’s super easy to throw on when it’s hot. For a cooler evening, this would look great with a jean jacket tossed over top and I like making it super casual with sneakers. The material is super soft and easy to wear.

              • Summer & Sage Jogger Pant on Marne

                1 of 2

              • detail of zipper pocket of Summer & Sage Jogger pants on Marne

                2 of 2

Summer & Sage Jogger Pant, size large – Retail Value $58.00 (Le Tote Price $48.00)

Wow- these are super snug for a size large which is a bummer since they are really comfy. I love a good jogger and these olive green ones fit my dark wardrobe but stray from the usual black or grey. There are long panels from mid-thigh to mid-calf that give them an even sportier feel and the front pockets have zippers. The waistband is elastic and has a cream drawstring to keep it snug. These would be perfect lounging pants if only they were bigger.

                • Summer & Sage Halter Tie Neck Romper on Marne

                  1 of 2

                • top back of Summer & Sage Halter Tie Neck Romper on Marne

                  2 of 2

Summer & Sage Halter Tie Neck Romper, size large – Retail Value $70.00 (Le Tote Price $46.00)

I decided to go out of my comfort zone with this bright orange halter romper and I’m not sure it worked out how I imagined. The material is really thin so wearing it sans-bra leaves very little support but wearing it with a bra will make it a little messy looking. The material is soft and it was comfortable but overall the fit was a little awkward.

Tiny Free People Movemenet tank being held up by Marne

Free People Movement Seamless Crop Tank, size medium/large – Retail Value $30.00 (Le Tote Price $20.00)

This black “tank” gave me a great laugh when I unwrapped it due to its small size. I ordered the larger M/L size and it looked like it was for a doll. Did it shrink? Is it actually just a sports bra? It had a lot of stretch so I was able to get it on but it was NOT a good fit at all, so I opted to just try and show you the teeny tiny size by holding it up to me.

Verdict: My final Le Tote this month didn’t work out super well due to size, but until the clothing industry standardizes sizing (ha!) this is the world we live in. Some things run large, some small, and even though I try to pay close attention to the measurements, it’s still hard to tell how things will fit.

A note about canceling: I did want to mention that when canceling Le Tote, you have to email them instead of there just being a button within your account to do so. It took them almost three full days to get back to me, and when they did, they asked me why (after at least placing my subscription on hold, which was good) which of course needed a reply, and then responded with a discount offer which again needed a reply. All in all, I needed to tell them four times to cancel before it was actually done and it took about five days. While I understand that their customer service was just doing their job and trying to retain a customer, the timeliness was not great. All of the questions would be appropriate for a chat or phone call, but not an email with almost a full day in between each response. Le Tote: Le sigh.

                  1. I’ve been comparing Le Tote to Infinite Style.

Infinite Style has been winning on Style Selection, but Le Tote wins on everything else (price, turnaround, app, user interface, swapping, accessories).

Le Tote’s selection has been terrible. I struggle to find anything good to put on my wish list or to swap in.

So I was THRILLED to read the news that they will be buying Lord and Taylor, and adding thousands of items to their inventory. I hope it happens soon!

                  2. The tiny tank picture is hilarious. Thank you for the good review and fun giggle at the end.

                  3. I tried me tote two years ago and decided the value isn’t there. You don’t have enough control over what is sent and the featured brands are mall brands often found on sale. Back then you were able to swap out your shipments though. With no option to exchange the chance something won’t fit is too high.

If you just need a wardrobe refresh this is great. But rent the runway unlimited is SO much better!

                    • Hi Elyse! I do actually have full control over what they send with Le Tote, I’m just not able to swap out sizes once I’ve received them. They create a tote with suggestions but then I’m able to swap any item out for something else if I desire. I don’t think EVERYTHING is in “tote swap” but I’ve never been disappointed in the selection.

                  4. The outfit with the blazer looks amazing on you (open or buttoned)! Especially with that pop of color on your lips ❤️ It has a menswear fit which is in style. Def my favorite outfit of the box.

                    • Aw shucks, thanks, M!

                  5. I have not commented before but had to after seeing the picture of the tiny size med/large tank top. The look on your face says it all!

                    • LOL. I mean…
