Goddess Provisions "Fire of Transformation" Review

Here's the info card with the theme and product list for the month. The theme is "Fire of Transformation."

Let's dive in!

Modern Mystic Shop Kali Ritual Kit  - Listed Value $15.00

Yes! I love things like this and they feel so absolutely appropriate in a subscription like this one. This kit contains two ritual candles, an anointing oil, and a stick of fragrant Palo Santo. Also included are instructions and a link to a private page with more insights into performing your ritual. While I couldn't find this kit on the Modern Mystic Shop's site, I did find other kits and so much fun stuff. Their site is 100% worth a visit!

Pure Fire Tonic, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $5.00

I am a Leo who hates spicy things, much to the chagrin of my star sign. In some ways, I guess I can't handle the heat! I enlisted Rachel to help me try this tonic. We were both nervous because it smells very pungent and spicy, and the label had a 3 out of 5 pepper rating. We decided it made sense to just try a spoonful and hope we didn't die. Well, we certainly didn't like this tonic, but we did survive. It tastes exactly like you would expect—fiery, earthy, and incredibly acidic. I know there are benefits so such tonics, but I don't see this being a repeat experience.

Mala Prayer Bhakti Necklace - Retail Value $46.00 (currently sold out)

This sub has been sending really great jewelry. This stainless steel necklace features the Sanskrit word 'Bhakti' which translates into 'devotion.' I really like the clean and classic design, an unexpected twist for a more free-spirited type of jewelry. It is also perfect for layering!

Adoratherapy Clear Away Spray, 10 ml - Retail Value $20.00

I was really impressed with the packaging of this spray. The heavy decorative box is perfectly formed to the golden bottle. This spray is a lovely blend of lavender, ylang-ylang, citrus, and herbs. The ylang-ylang is the most prominent scent to my nose. It is perfect for refreshing your space.

Sacred Elephant Incense, 10 sticks - Listed Value $8.50

I adore incense but sometimes a certain brand really shines. I could smell this stuff as soon as I opened the box this month and I was beyond excited to light it. WOW. These sticks are incredible. A heady blend of saffron and amber, the scent is downright sexy, which actually suits the Kali theme perfectly since she is closely associated with erotic sentiments and the divine feminine power.

Fractalista Red Kali Agate - Retail Value $14.99

I find agate so fascinating, with its circles and layers, color changes, and transparencies. This one is etched with a highly detailed illustration of Kali, which only adds to its allure and mystery. It is especially stunning when viewed in front of a burning candle, the flames creeping through the stone in a beautiful and eerie sort of way.

Red Jasper - Listed Value $4.00

Our stone this month is a deep reddish-orange tumbled jasper. A potent stone of healing, it is cherished by many crystal enthusiasts during times of upheaval or traumatic change.

The Verdict: Goddess Provisions, again, was awesome. This month and last month were two of my favorites from this subscription, ever! Everything was so well curated and thoughtful. My favorite item by far was the incredible ritual kit. It felt so special and everything from the scent of the oil to the red candles was spot on for a month of fire and transformation. The incense was a very close second fave. The scent is incredible and I totally see myself buying more to keep my house fragrant all the time. The only product I wasn't in love with would have to be the fire tonic, but that is more of a "Megan hates spicy things" issue rather than it being a bad product. It actually fit the curation perfectly! The overall value this month lands somewhere around $113.49 which is good for a $33 box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

A couple of my coworkers saw my empty Goddess Provisions box at work and asked me what types of items come in it, so I talked about the types of items that generally come in this box, and they were really interested in it, and then I mentioned specifically the Kali ritual kit, and they both had a very adverse reaction, saying that is “white girls culturally appropriating other cultures.” So, I know what that means, but I’m not really sure if this is an example of that. What do other people think? Personally I have no interest in performing the ritual and am putting the kit up for swap. I also don’t believe in “gods” and “goddesses,” bu I’m wondering if other people actually believe in the existence of Kali, or if they are more interested in the “legend” or mythology surrounding her and just want to tap into that type of energy, if that makes sense.

I’m gifting the agate to a friend who likes agates. I’m not sure what he’ll make of the picture of Kali on the front, though!

I would tend to agree with your coworkers! That’s what puts me off about this box – the mix of cultures and diving into traditions that I as a white woman don’t have a right to claim as my own makes me uncomfortable. But at the same time, it’s such a learning experience! Not for me, probably not for them, but I can see how it could be super enriching and positive with the right perspective.

Thank you for the response! I agree that it could be a learning experience. But it should not be something to do just for entertainment or taken lightly, I guess. Maybe like the way when you go to a Catholic mass, you can’t take Communion if you aren’t a Catholic.

So my comment was “censored” or whatever for 24 hours, and now no one is talking about this box anymore, so no one will see or respond to my comment. Good times.

I loved the box too except for the spicy tonic. I also hate hot spice. However, everything else was delightful. Yes, beautifully curated!

FYI -malaprayer (source of necklace) is having an AWESOME sale (Xmas in July, at least for this weekend) on the necklaces like above, as well as a huge number of stunningly beautiful malas. Bracelets start at $9. And most malas are $10-30 (vs $80+ normally).

Thanks for the tip! I just snagged a 108 bead bracelet and a mala necklace on sale. Can’t wait to receive them!

Great review of a great box!

Personally I wish the necklace said something else, as I love the look but “devotion” isn’t a concept I’m really into. And I know whenever I wear it everyone will ask what the word is/means. Something like “grow” or “transform” (given that it also needs to fit with the theme of the box,) would have been better for me.
