Gainz Box June 2019 Review

Gainz Box has recently changed to a simpler information card (the cheesy poses with the box items are gone but the amount of information is about the same):

The box came with a full-color information card. There was also some product literature for one of the brands in the box.

Up Tech Bluetooth Speaker – Retail Value $39.99 (found here for $11.99)

The information card listed this at $69.99 but I found one that looks identical on Groupon (and in fact, that’s the only place I found it). It works pretty well for my purposes (better while lifting weights than the sound from my phone, anyway, and no wires to get tangled in). I wonder though, how people use these otherwise? Because I think blasting your own music would annoy people in the gym (I work out at home, by myself, so it doesn’t matter). I can see taking it to a park or the beach, too.

There were also instructions for using the speaker.

Fitness Goals Crop Top – Retail Value $32.o0

This, on the other hand, sells for more than the information card. Now. I am a 41-year-old woman who has had an abdominal hysterectomy, and you are not going to see me in a crop top on the internet. But I will definitely wear this to work out in at home because it is the softest, most comfortable T-shirt fabric I have ever felt. I am not even kidding. Also, since I have petted a dog today, does that count as having met my fitness goals so I don’t have to lift weights and do cardio? I’m cool with that.

Polarized Sunglasses from Wags and Weights – Estimated Value $12

This particular design wasn’t available on the Wags and Weights website, but I found some other ones that look the same except for the design, so that’s what I’ve linked to above. I think this is my first pair of sunglasses for the year and I like that they are polarized, as that seems to cut down on glare. (I break sunglasses a lot so I’d rather have a bunch of cheap pairs instead of expensive designer ones, so these are perfect for me.)

Wags and Weights Sticker – Estimated Value $2

These stickers are out of stock on the Wags and Weights website but their page still shows so I’ve estimated the value from that. These are supposed to be water resistant and dishwasher safe, so if you wanted to put this on your shaker cup or water bottle or something, you’d be fine.

DNX Grass Fed Beef Bar – Listed Value $2.99 (buy 6 bars for $24.88)

I was sad that the snack this month wasn’t vegetarian. I will send this along with my husband next time he goes into the office to pass over to a coworker who enjoys such things. This is appropriate for people following the keto and Paleo diets and the beef is grass fed. The “uncured bacon” is actually cured, as rather than adding straight sodium nitrite, celery salt is added, and that contains natural nitrites, so you are maybe not getting the same concentration of nitrites, but they are still there.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $89 for the June Gainz Box. That is somewhat above twice the monthly cost of the box, including shipping. The shirt was so soft and the speaker worked well (granted, under my limited testing conditions), and right there is most of the value of the box. The dogs and fitness theme was fun, as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, Gainz Box has already shipped for June. Order by 7/17 to receive the July box.

Value Breakdown: At $39 for this box ($32 monthly plus $7 shipping), you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Shirt $13.31
  • Speaker $16.63
  • Sticker $0.83
  • Sunglasses $4.99
  • Beef bar $1.24

We have a Bang and Olufsen that is a similar shape to this speaker. If sits in our kitchen/dining room and we listen to music/news on it. It’s nice because you can take it around the house and have music where you want.
